Flicker Box Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Info

Flicker Box includes an info card every month, sharing information about the makers and the candles. They do a great job introducing you to the brands included, and these cards definitely make it easier to re-order when you find a candle you really like.

Flicker Box Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Rose

Pink Garden Rose Floating Candle by Armadilla Wax Works - $6.95

This little floating candle made this month's packaging really special! It's so pretty, and I can't wait to try floating it! It's almost completely unscented, just FYI. I like both scented and unscented (as long as the scent agrees with me).

Flicker Box Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Love Letter

Love Letter by Uncommon Candles - $15?

This is my favorite candle in the box! It smells amazing! My husband thought it smelled a bit like grapefruit, but I think it smells almost exactly like gourmet jelly beans. Mmmm! I was also excited to learn about this brand because they are local to me, very local! Unfortunately, they are only wholesale, and I cannot find this candle for sale anywhere online, so I had to guess at the value. They do have a page on their website that lists retailers that carry their candles in stores, though, so I may have to pop into one of the nearby gift shops and check out the rest of their scents!

Flicker Box Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Guava

Passion Fruit & Guava by the Tiny Collection - $11

I LOVE that this candle actually smells like what it's supposed to smell like! I was afraid it would just smell super fruity, but this actually has a bit of that meaty smell that real guava has. The Tiny Collection's candles are all-natural, AND they make a donation to the ASPCA with every purchase!

Flicker Box Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Love Spell

Love Spell by Second Star to the Right - $11

I have received candles from this company before from Flicker Box, and they very consistently produce quality soybean oil candles with no animal or petroleum by-products. This one smells like cinnamon bubble gum!

Flicker Box Subscription Box Review – February 2015 Extras

Flicker Box always sends a book of matches, and this month they also included a 10% coupon for the Tiny Collection Candles! Bonus!

Verdict: If you are interested in a candle subscription box, I highly recommend Flicker Box. They impress me every time! February was all about love and passion, but there was nothing in the box that was too rosy or sickly sweet smelling. They also are really committed to helping these artisans and small businesses, and I appreciate their standards regarding the environment as well. This month's collection had a value of about $44 if I guessed the value of the Love Letter candle correctly, so I am happy with the value as well.

Which candle was your favorite this month?

I ordered a six month subscription at the end of January but the February box was already sold out. Sad to have missed it. I can’t wait for the March Oregon themed box!

I had a 3 month Gilt City sub that ended last month. I absolutely loved everything I received and felt the value was definitely there, even at full price. Scent preferences are definitely unique to the individual but I never received any candles that I felt weren’t highly scented. In fact I reordered several of my favorites from their overstock store. Unfortunately, I placed that order over 3 weeks ago and still haven’t received anything. I sent a message a week and a half ago asking about shipment status and got a response last Fri that they were backed up packing monthly sub boxes but that my order would ship as of last Fri. Well, it’s been another week and I still haven’t received my order or any further communication. I’m a bit frustrated and more so disappointed as I really love their products but am finding customer service and timely shipping to be lacking. I sent another message to them today and if I don’t receive my order by mid week next week I plan to request a refund. I understand about weather on the east coast from the past week but the storm didn’t happen until days after I was told my box was shipping, though it expect that will be the justification for the ongoing delay. I hope I’m wrong because I really like this company, but I dislike receiving inaccurate excuses for delays. I’m military; it’s an integrity thing for me I suppose.

One additional note, the floating floral shaped candle is a clearance item in their overstock store selling for around $2. Not sure if that should be taken into account in terms of this month’s sub box total value. Just throwing it out there.

okay, my love spell candle doesn’t seem to have a scent at all. it is almost completely unscented. even had my bf sniff it to make sure i wasn’t crazy. kinda bummed. everything else was amazing though. this is definitely one of my favorite subs.

Did you actually burn the Love Spell candle yet? The wick looks like one of those crackling wicks, but I’d love a confirmation or denial of that.

I just lit it, it’s a wood wick but it’s barely crackling. Plus it had a hard time getting started, kept going out even though it was lit. It wasn’t like a WoodWick candle.

I got the 6 month deal from Gilt City and so far haven’t been super impressed. I love that they feature small brands, but haven’t really cared for the scents. I feel like it’s mostly been fruity and floral scents. I’m more into the food or clean smelling stuff. I wouldn’t pay full price for this sub, but getting a deal from Gilt City or somewhere, it’s really nice. The last couple boxes I’ve swapped nearly every candle in them, this month were all fruit smells, I’m still debating on the Love Spell candle if I love it or hate it. It smells peachy or grapefruity to me.
