Flicker Box Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Info

This month is all about Oregon! Oregon is one of my favorite places, so I was excited to see this as the theme. I also love the little matches they send - such a nice touch!

Flicker Box Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Lit

Cascade Hops Candle by Lit & Co. - $12.50

Is this what hops smell like? Because it smells completely amazing! This is my favorite candle by far this month, and maybe one of my all time favorites! I've never smelled anything like it!

Flicker Box Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Oak

Four-pack of tea lights by Oak Street Soap & Candles - Value $4

These little candles are handmade with soy wax in Portland, Oregon. The info card says they are supposed to smell like "that moment when you first open the door to the moist smell of fresh air, crisp water, & soggy earth." I actually can't smell anything, but I'm starting up my seasonal allergies, so maybe it's just me.

Flicker Box Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Votive

Votive by Beeswax Candle Works - $2.75

This is a 100% beeswax candle! I don't think I've ever had anything like it before! Unscented.

Flicker Box Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Weird

Keep Portland Weird candle by Vance Family Soy Candles - $12.99

This one has a weird scent to match its name! It's not a bad scent, though (to me) - a little woodsy, a little musky, with a little freshness sprinkled in. Plus the maker, Vance Family Soy Candles, uses American materials, no GMO's, and donates a portion of every sale to those in need! Good for them!

Verdict: I stand by my recommendation of Flicker Box if you are looking for a good candle subscription, but this month was a bit of a miss for me. The value of the box was about $32.50 which is slightly below the cost of the box. Usually the value of Flicker Box hovers just above the cost, but not by a lot either way, so I'm OK with the value. I think the curation is consistently excellent, especially in the sourcing of candles with all natural ingredients. This month was really only a miss because I simply prefer scented candles. On the other hand, I discovered a new favorite, so it was really a mixed bag (or box!) for me. Which candle was your favorite this month?

I got the exact same box as you but I got 2 of the orange candlewax candles. I didn’t even realize they were the same candle or that it was a mistake until I saw your review. Either you are missing one or they accidentally gave me an extra.

Kristin

I only got one. I guess they had extras but not enough to go around completely?

This is the first month I haven’t swapped any of the candles yet. I think we’ve gotten unscented beeswax votives from them before. I can’t decide if I like or hate the Keep Portland Weird candle, it’s different, smells a lil lemon pledge-y to me. I like the Portland Rain tealights, they’re very light scented. The cascade hops I can’t decide if i like it or hate it either. It’s more perfume-y. I’m still wishing to get food scents before my subscription runs out lol.
