Sample Society Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Roller Lash

Benefit Roller Lash – .1 oz Value $8

I've already sampled this new mascara from Benefit and I love it! I'm able to build a lot of volume and length without any clumping on the lashes.

Sample Society Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Oscar Blandi

Oscar Blandi Pronto Texture & Volume Spray - 1.5 oz Value $9

Sample Society actually sent this exact product a year ago in the March 2014 box. This one is .5 oz larger though. It does a great job at adding volume, so I'm happy to have another one!

Sample Society Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Cargo

CARGO Essential Lip Gloss in Prague - FULL SIZE! Value $16

This lipgloss is pretty pigmented - it adds a good amount of color and shine. It is a tad sticky, but not bothersome, and I like the color.

Sample Society Subscription Box Review – March 2015 Juice Beauty

Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm – .20 oz Value $6.85

Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy Moisturizer – .5 oz (Travel Size) Value $18

I’ve received this lip balm in a few different subscription boxes over the years– and I’m always happy to have more. (This .20 oz version is actually preferable for me compared to the full-size version since this one comes with the right kind of lip balm applicator tip).

And this Juice Beauty moisturizer is another item that has been in a few subscription boxes. I love the Juice Beauty brand, and I think this is a great lightweight moisturizer, so I'm good with getting more.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $58 - amazing for the $15 a month cost! This is one of the best Sample Society boxes I've received, and I love the value, the brands included, and the sizes of the items. A lot of these items are repeats for me, so this isn't a discover-new-brands box for me, but I like all the items, so it is a valuable box.

What do you think of the March 2015 Sample Society box?

Does anyone have an extra March Sample Society box they’d like to sell? Thanks!

I love Juice Beauty… I’ve been using their scrub/cleanser for over a year and I was so happy to get the moisturizer. I’ve been using it at night (since it doesn’t contain sunscreen) and it feels wonderful. I’ve got aging, acne prone, sensitive skin and whole heartedly endorse it.
I received the Cargo gloss in Stockholm and the bright bubblegum pink color scared me a bit until I put it on. I’ve got a tan, and the color complements. I like the texture and smell, too. Reminds me of the drugstore roller-ball gloss I loved in junior high.
I hate mascara, so I’m no judge of how great the Benefit is. I did try it, but found it just as sticky and clumpy as every other I’ve worn.
Love the Blandi spray! It’s a great texturizer and lightweight.
Finally, I’ve never tried a Malin and Goetz product. I’m addicted to lip balm though, and picky, and love this one. My only complaint is that it doesn’t contain sunscreen.
All in all, love this box! Can’t wait for the next one.

Ps: thank you Liz for reviewing these boxes and giving good honest reviews. I subscribe to Ipsy and Sample Society and absolutely love them both.

I loved everything about this box. My eyelashes look like I’m wearing false eyelashes. That’s how good the mascara is. I use cleansing oil as a makeup remover anyway so that easily takes it off. I normally don’t use lip products but I adore the lip balm. It sinks right in and feels like nothing on my lips. I got the lip gloss in Madrid a sparkling pinky color. I don’t see myself wearing it that often but it is really pretty. The texturizing spray smells great and even though I have naturally wavey hair with plenty of volume it does give a nice messy sexy edge to my hair. The Juice lotion goes on smooth, absorbs right away and made my skin feel soft with no greasy residue. A little bit goes a long way so I see this as lasting for quite awhile. Great box!

FYI: For anyone who loved the Cargo lipgloss, Ulta is having a special for today only where the lipglosses are all $8 each! I stocked up on colors that I saw in other boxes but didn’t receive. Love this stuff especially at 50% off!

This Sample Society box was a win for me this month and it may be my favorite box from them yet!

Benefit Roller Lash- Couldn’t wait to try. This mascara is Eh. No amazing volume or length but great for an every day mascara. Too much layering and I end up with lashes that stick together. (Use an oil based eye makeup remover to take off)

Cargo Lip Gloss color Tao- LOVE. This is the perfect nude/neutral for someone with medium tan skin!

Malin & Goetz Mojito Lip Balm- Long time Fan- very excited to have another. I am obssessed with this lip balm.

Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy- Already a huge fan! This is my favorite moisturizer and I’m glad to have this size for travel.

Oscar Biandi Texture and Volume Spray- Like. Don’t think I will buy this but I have very thick and voluminous hair. I used Allure suggestion of using on 3rd day hair to revamp the roots- it worked well for that.

This is a great box for the value and brand choices. Glad to see Cargo starting to show up in a lot of subscription boxes!

Glad I didn’t get it though ’cause:
I way prefer balm to gloss.
That Juice Beauty is this year’s Purlisse (plus I’m allergic to this JB product).
I already was given a free RollerLash mini and bought a full size for the cute packaging with Birchbox points (not the best mascara, but not the worst. Best if used when layering macaras.)
And I’ve fiiiiiinally gone through all of my Mojito lip balms from last year’s boxes & I’m burnt out. I wish Malin + Goetz would send out a wider variety of their products because they are a great brand.

Major box envy ! I wanted to get this box, but saw on here they are running out if products. Boo. If anyone here doesn’t like the products they received and would like to swap, I have my ipsy bag coming here soon with purlisse face wash, cool way hair smoothing oil, pixi eye shadow dual and nyx lip stick in the lite brownish shade if you are interested in swapping either multiple or single products, I would really like to try the mascara and apple face moisturizer thanks [email protected]

I liked everything in the box except for the Cargo lip gloss. I received Umbria which is a very metallic-looking color and not me at all. Hopefully I can swap it.

I dropped a lot of subs this month and I’m thinking about subbing with sample society to make up for what’s been lost. But.. I only like some
Of their boxes, this one is great! If I sub now, is this the box I get?

Reply ButtonReply

Jenny

No, the last day to sub for that month’s box is some time around the 5th. Not sure the exact date, but it says it on the website. However, they usually sell one time boxes for $15. That’s why I don’t subscribe to this sub, I wait to see if I love everything in it & buy it as a free standing box. Not sure if it’s a guarantee that they will always sell it as a one time purchase, but it’s a risk Im willin to take!

Reply ButtonReply

Laura

I found the previous sets listed for sale now:)

Laura

Where do you go to on their site to buy a box without subscribing? I’m thinking ending this sub for now and it would be great to be able to buy a box once in a while.

Charlotte

I was pleased with this box once I got it, but I would have been upset if I did not like the color of the Cargo gloss bc it was the only full sized item. Luckily, I received the Madrid color, which is a sheer dusty pink with a lottt of shine. I haven’t worn lip gloss in years but this will definitely be seeing some use.

This is the first Juice product that I have received, and I have been using it since last Thursday when I first got my box. I don’t mind the scent and it absorbs pretty quickly. I hope I will notice some results in the next few days.

This is my first experience with the Mojito Balm, but I’m not surprised that it smells amazing after trying other Malin + Goetz products. I like the texture as well, and my only complaint is that I am probably going to run out too soon!!!!

As Anna mentioned before, the Benefit mascara is soo hard to remove!! I like getting sample sizes of mascara to try new formulas, and I was excited to try the roller brush but unfortunately this one wasn’t for me! It did not create the volume I usually go for and I had some clumping issues after applying only 2 coats. (also, as much as I like sampling new mascara, I have received 3 mascaras from SS since I started subbing in September. The Bobbi Brown one was amazing and I loved the Lorac cobra brush and formula, so this one was disappointing)

Finally, the Oscar Blandi spray: I love the smell of this product and I liked that it definitely created noticeable texture after simply spraying and tousling. So the product does what it is meant to do, but unfortunately I do NOT need to add any volume to my hair! EVER! I have an incredible amount of hair already and I would have preferred maybe an anti-frizz type hair product or styling cream. That being said, I am happy for all of you who are searching for volume and texture, because this product definitely does what it should.

I could really use some assistance/instructions on how to get volume with th.at Oscar Blandi spray

Charlotte Ford

Sorry, I misspoke when I said I subbed in Sept. I started in Oct. 2014, and have received 3 mascaras over the course of 6 months/ boxes.

Cay

Does anyone know if I subscribe now if I will get the March box? It doesn’t indicate it anywhere in the ordering process. Thanks!

Reply ButtonReply

LB

I wouldn’t. They’ve run out of at least one sample and said they’re low on others.

Reply ButtonReply

Cay

Thanks for reply! I will hold off until April box becomes available.

I got the Sahara Cargo lip gloss too. It is so beautiful.

Reply ButtonReply

Fancy

I received the Cargo gloss in Sahara which is a shimmery beige. Love it!

Anna

I didn’t care for the mascara, it goes on very thin so it doesn’t create volume on my lashes. Then it’s so hard to remove! I normally remove my mascara with just water and my fingers but this wouldn’t bulge! I had to check the packaging if it was waterproof. It took me a really long time to remove it. I don’t like it at all.

Loved everything in this month’s box. My cargo color was Taos and looking at the bottle I thought it looked awful, but when I put it on I loved it! I have so many pinks and reds so it was fun to try something new. I am glad I tried it out instead of just throwing it in the gift pile! Great job sample society keep it up 🙂

I’ve been subscribed since December of 2014 and haven’t yet received a box that didn’t introduce me to new products. My only complaint is that I always seem to get pink for my lip glosses and I’m not a pink person. Aside from that minor complaint I like that I’m getting a selection of products that I would not be aware of, forget purchase otherwise. I like the mojito salve and can’t wait to try the mascara.

Andi

This was my favorite box this month! I will definitely use everything. I have short, straight lashes and the roller lash really works to lengthen and curl. I love the cargo color I received (light pinkish violet color) and the other items are all tried and true staple products for me. Thanks for the reviews, Liz, and for turning me on to this subscription.

I love that mojito lip balm too! I got it in an Ipsy bag a month or two ago.

I’m kinda bummed that you posted a March Popsugar spoiler in this Sample Society review… I do my best to not see any spoilers before I get my popsugar box.

Liz Cadman

I am so sorry – I wasn’t thinking! I will remove it, and try to do a better job at not doing that in the future. Sorry again!

Reply ButtonReply

Meghan

No worries – just wanted to bring it to your attention 🙂 Thanks!

Vanessa

The hair item and mojito lip balm are my favs!!! I will be gifting the juice Beauty as I’ve gotten 3 of them in my boxes so far. The benefit brand is not my fav. So I’ll be gifting it also. The Cargo lip balm I got is so pretty and will make a great gift. In the end, the hair and lip product made the box for me!

Sara

I love the Cargo lipgloss color and of course the Mojito lipgloss is one of my favorites, but I still have like 10 tubes of it I haven’t used yet.

I was missing a sample from my box so they sent me a new box. The sample (juice beauty) was still missing from the second box. They said they had run out. They emailed and said they’d refund $5 to the card I use to pay for it. Just wanted to pass that along as it sounds like it may be a continuing problem this month.

Reply ButtonReply

Marilyn

I have a question LB so did you receive the same amount of products 5 since they ran out of the Juice beauty product? If so what did they replace it with?
Thanks

Reply ButtonReply

LB

Hi Marylin! I only got 4 items in each box they sent. I emailed them the first time to let them know that an item was missing (I didn’t even tell them which one) and they immediately sent a new, replacement box. But that one was missing an item too. I emailed them a little video of me unboxing the second one to show them. The second box actually contained the product info so I was totally sure the juice beauty item was supposed to be in there. The first box they sent didn’t come with product info, I had only gone by what I had seen on Instagram.
