POPSUGAR Must Have Box April 2015 Review + Coupon Box

POPSUGAR Must Have is a monthly lifestyle subscription box for women. Each month they send a mix of items from categories like beauty, fashion, food, fitness, home, etc.

This box was sent to us early for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

POPSUGAR Must Have Box April 2015 Review + Coupon Items

The Subscription Box: POPSUGAR Must Have

The Cost: 39.95 a month

The Products: “Must Have” items for women selected by POPSUGAR editors. (Fitness, Home, Beauty, Food, and more)

Check out all of my POPSUGAR Must Have reviews and the Women’s Subscription Box Directory!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box April 2015 Review + Coupon Info

Each box comes with a fold out card detailing the items included.

POPSUGAR Must Have Box April 2015 Review + Coupon Candle

Produce Candles Rhubarb Spring Candle - Value $20

(The card lists the Rhubarb scent, so I'm assuming there is no variation and all subscribers will receive the same candle).

Thees candles are made with natural soy wax, and I think the packaging is so fun. (And I love that I can reuse the jar when the candle is gone).

POPSUGAR Must Have Box April 2015 Review + Coupon Candle Open

I wasn't sure if I'd like the scent when I saw the spoiler, but it turns out I'm a rhubarb fan!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box April 2015 Review + Coupon Serum

One Love Organics Gardenia + Tea Antioxidant Body Serum - Value $39

This may end up being my favorite item in the box. I love the One Love Organics brand, and lately I've been hearing about the benefits of body brushes, so this seems like the perfect companion product. The scent is subtle and reminds me of summer, and the formula is pretty lightweight and absorbs quickly leaving a bit of sheen.

POPSUGAR Must Have Box April 2015 Review + Coupon Umbrella

Dabney Lee Umbrella - Value $20

This umbrella is really well-made, and I wouldn't have been surprised if the value listed was twice as much. It has a nice weight to it, and the colors are so fun for Spring.

It comes with a removable outer case:

And it has an auto open/close button:

POPSUGAR Must Have Box April 2015 Review + Coupon Basil

Garden in a Bag Organic Basil - Value $10

I'm excited about this since I could put organic basil on everything, but I must admit, the instructions seem pretty in-depth for a non-gardener like myself. (There are 9 steps! I was hoping that the instructions would just be: open bag, add water, you're done).

POPSUGAR Must Have Box April 2015 Review + Coupon Bag

Flip + Tumble Reusable Bag Value $12

This reusable folds out into a shoulder tote bag:

POPSUGAR Must Have Box April 2015 Review + Coupon Tote

I like the colors, and I also really like that the ball you roll the bag back into is made out of stretchy material - no proper folding needed to get it back into that shape!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box April 2015 Review + Coupon Mott 50

Mott 50 $25 Gift Card Code - Special Extra

From the info card:

With fashion and function in mind, Mott 50 created a light-weight clothing line with a 50 ultraviolet protection factor to combat harmful UVA and UVB rays. Use this $25 gift card toward your next purchase for clothes and accessories that do more than just cover.

More details: This card is good though 5/30/15, and works toward women's apparel and accessories only. (Excludes kids items). Cannot be used toward shipping. It is a unique coupon code.

This brand is new to me, and I might try out their infinity scarf.

POPSUGAR Must Have Box April 2015 Review + Coupon Coupons

This box also came with a 20% off coupon for Flip & Tumble and a 35% off coupon for Produce Candles.

Verdict: I'm really happy with this box because I know I will use every single thing in it - the basil is the only slightly intimidating item but I'm going to give it a try! I love the body serum, and candles, totes and umbrellas are great items I'm always happy to have more of. The only item that seems missing this month is a delicious snack (POPSUGAR is so good at discovering the best snacks and sweets), but that's not a big deal to me. This box has a value of about $101 (not counting the gift card code), and I think that's good for this box since all the retail prices seem so reasonable to me.

I wanted to wait to see how the basil grew. The instructions were not hard at all. I punched lots of holes in the bottom of the bag for drainage and now I have 11 little basil plants coming up. I will wait until they are at least 1 inch high and then I will have to find places to plant them around my small yard. They are supposed to be only 12 inches tall and 12 inches in diameter. Shaped like a ball and with small leaves. I have grown this type before and only one can grow in a bag that small. Remember, basil plants around your yard will keep the mosquitoes away. And the tote bag’s wrinkles disappeared after I used it once for the market.

Happy with my box, perfect for spring.

I used the Mott 50 card and bought a $58 white infinity scarf for $42 with shipping. It shipped quickly (less than a week) and came with a canvas tote. I am very pleased – got a Mott 50 scarf with Birchbox last year so can throw them both in the tote for a beach trip!

I really love everything in this box and will use everything except the Mott 50 gift card. If anyone wants this let me know and I will email you the code. [email protected]

Is there something I need to do to get the body serum to spray? It seems to be locked into place!

Reply ButtonReply

Goda

There is a little button to press by the side.

Reply ButtonReply

CJ

There is a little button underneath the spray pump that you have to slide back and forth to lock and unlock the sprayer.

Janet

Thank you! I knew there had to be a trick to it.

I just got my box today and it seems a little empty when you open the box, but it’s so nice! I adore the umbrella, it’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. I didn’t know an umbrella could close itself. I love the reusable bag too, the little storage pouch it goes back into is so easy, you don’t have to fold it up perfectly. Those two products alone made this box sooooo worth it for me, can’t wait to use them! I was excited about getting a candle but don’t like the scent at all unfortunately. The serum is nice, makes my skin soft and smells good.

I took out a 6 month subscription to Popsugar using the Black Friday deal. How I wish I’d stumped up for a full year!
This has been my favourite box so far, they just keep getting better.
I’ve already planted my basil seeds and check them every 15 minutes to see if they’re growing yet, lol. The umbrella is nuts, if you press the button while it’s in the open position, it closes itself! How cool is that? You do still need to push the stem down, but it’s the easiest umbrella ever.
I’m actually using the serum on my face. Why not? Presumably if it’s good enough for the skin on my body it won’t hurt my face. I love that it’s a spray bottle, makes that extra step a little faster, and it’s huge! About 4fl oz, so will last about a year, I’d guess.
Here’s hoping that another wonderful coupon code comes around for when my 6 months is up in May!

Lindsey

Whoa! Thanks for the tip about the umbrella! I never would have realized it did that. I’ve been just forcing it closed every time! 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Helen

You’re very welcome.
I wouldn’t have found out, but a friend was with me for the unboxing and she thinks opening an umbrella indoors is bad luck. Of course I had to open and close it a few times and prove her wrong. lol

If you missed out or are looking for duplicates, I have a March and an April box, both for sale at cost ($44 + $12 shipping). Email me if interested: [email protected]

I love it! I have yet to be disappointed in PSMH. I love the variety. And if an item isn’t for me, then I have nice items for gifting. It’s like having a personal shopper – with far better taste than I have! Most items this month will end up as gifts, but I appreciate the curation. The practical bag will go to my mother, the cute umbrella to my sister-in-law or niece, the nicely scented (rhubarb!) candle and basil plant I’ll use as a hostess gifts. The only item I’ll use myself is the body serum which I just love! Even though most items will go to others, I think this is a very good box. I think I say this every month – keep up the good work with the variety!

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

This was my first PSMH box and I am kind of disappointed in some of the items, though it wasn’t a total flop. I love the bag, and like the candle and umbrella. I suppose I can try the Basil bag out, but I do NOT have a green thumb so we’ll see how well that goes.

I’m disappointed that the high value item (serum) is what I am the LEAST interested in, as well as the Mott50 card, I’d love to swap them but I’m on the waitlist for the swap site. xD

Has anyone contacted PS regarding the disabled coupon code for the candles yet? That was a big bummer…

Reply ButtonReply

Caitlyn

Did you ever get a response? I just bought items from the box on ebay and the seller included the coupon code. Since I loved the candle I figured I’d give it a try even though it was listed as expired and it worked! I purchased three candles today for $39, and because I chose the tomato candle I qualified for free shipping to boot! (Apparently some candles qualify the whole order for free shipping.)

Does anyone know if you can stack the Mott 50 gift cards?

Reply ButtonReply

CJ

I tried using the 10% off from signing up for the email newsletter and the gift card and it would only allow me to use one code or the other, not both.

Reply ButtonReply

Chellersm

Oh that is a bummer. I was thinking the only way I would use the card is if I could stack it with a % off code. Really don’t like “gift” cards that require you to spend more than a minimal amount of your own $. If I like the product after trying a new brand I will buy more, but I’m not going out on a limb!

laura

I am a long time subscriber and I feel like they have a new curator or at least re-imagined the way they do the boxes. In a good way! This April box feels the most Curated of them all, I mean even the candle is a “produce” scent so everything is all to do with Spring, and as fas as not getting a snack I forgot about that! But, I think the Basil is the “food” item and it is the one herb I always seem to want fresh so hooray! I always love beauty items and candles, and love jewelry so am excited for next month(May spoiler lariat necklace) My only complaint is the reusable bag, since I already have a few I don’t need it. But I may end up using it for lunches when my current lunch bag wears out. Overall a nice box.

I resubscribed to PopSugar but thought my subscription started in May. I don’t want this box. If anyone is interested in purchasing my April PS box please let me know.

I love this box again pop sugar shows creative thinking and the umbrella is sooo cute and useful. I can’t wait to see how the basil grows and the best thing is that we have a actual gift certificate to use on items of our choice.
I have the serous to trade if anyone us interested let me know by email.

This candle smells so good! I really would like some cookies in may box. I missed a snack in this box… good I also subscribe to Orange Glad!

I will use almost everything in this box and thing PS is doing a bang-up job as of late on their curation (with a few exceptions like that neon bag last month). The items in this month’s bag are on-theme for April, well-made, and even a little surprising. Something (or someone) has changed at PSMH, and I say Well Done!

Ariana

While this box isn’t overly exciting, I’m happy to have a new umbrella and look forward to trying the body serum. I adore the candle – scent is great…I would love a candle in every other box! The basil is a cute idea…I’m going to plant it this weekend. Now onto the bag…ugh that bag. I like the idea of the bag, but my bag is beyond wrinkly and the instructions say it can’t be ironed. Overall, I’d give the box 3 stars.

Reply ButtonReply

CJ

I used my steamer and it got the wrinkles out.

Reply ButtonReply

Ariana

Great idea! I don’t have a steamer, but may need to get one now. 🙂

Leah R.

This would have been a perfect box for me if they had just included an actual snack. I know, its childish, but I could have really used a cookie 🙂

Tara

I think this box is decent but not great. The candle smells good (is that what rhubarb smells like ? who knew?). The umbrella is fine and seems good quality. The basil is a neat idea but it does seem like a lot of steps and takes 6+ weeks to grow. I havent tried the body spray yet but would prefer a regular lotion vs a spray. i just dont like that sprays seem to get all over the bathroom. i felt like there should just be a few more items in the box for some reason. but overall it was decent. i hope may is better

Kiales

I was surprised at how much I liked this! LOVE the body spray (just had arm surgery and this makes things easier haha), umbrella is darling and different, yumm basil, the bag will go in my travel stuff since the size is perfect, and I really like the cute candle.

Nothing fancy, but all cute things I’m glad to have. I think we get spoiled sometimes and our expectations are high, but for $40, things will be hit and miss and overall we get to try some great stuff 🙂

Tink

Probably my least favorite box so far. I dunno…I get the theme but live in the rain and have a ton of umbrellas which, btw, never get used (true Washingtonians don’t need umbrellas!!!) The basil is eh, and the bag, well I like it, but have a ton of bags. The candle scent in just too strong for my nose, and that leaves…the body serum. I might give it a try, but also may sell all or most of it, or gift it. Feel free to leave your email address if you’re interested in any or all of the box. It would be great if somebody loved it the way it deserves 😉
