Arcade Block Subscription Box Review – June 2015 - tee

Team Fortress 2 T-Shirt - Value $10?

This Team Fortress 2 inspired t-shirt is from ShirtPunch, and is a heavy cotton t-shirt. This is a first person shooter game from Valve pitting Reliable Excavation & Demolition (RED) vs. Builders League United (BLU). I love the Nintendo throw back feel of the shirt!

Arcade Block Subscription Box Review – June 2015 - watch

Max Speed Watch - Value $50

This speedometer style watch comes in an Arcade Block themed tin - which is a nice tin. The watch itself has a very nice style to it as well, but for me, the speedometer lights are so bright that I found it hard to actually read the time when looking straight on, but I could easily read the time when titling it at a slight angle. Liz could read it just fine, so it may just be my own issue.

COEXIST bumper sticker - Value $4?

This bumper sticker reminds you that even though you may have a platform or game of choice, we're all still gamers in this big, crazy world.

Portal Magnets - Value $10?

This is an exclusive item this month, outlining some of the dangers test subjects may face in their Portal trials! If you have yet to play Portal (the first or second game) you totally should! It's a great game, and this is a really nice exclusive!

Arcade Block Subscription Box Review – June 2015 - retro

RETRO Videogame Magazine - Value $7

This is the second time we've received a RETRO magazine in Arcade Block. This magazine features info about today's best game and retro games. I used to subscribe to a gaming magazine, and I'd love if this became a normal inclusion - similar to Horror Block including Rue Morgue every month!

The Hunter of Zebes Print - Value $10

This Metroid inspired poster looks to be a smaller version of an original 18x24 screen print from 2012. I love the style of this print, and now I'm a bit curious to see what the original looked like!

Verdict: The value of the items of this box is well over the cost, so that is always a major plus. While I wasn't a huge fan of the major items of the box, there were still smaller items that I loved, and that is typically the risk/reward of subscription boxes. My fingers are crossed that we continue received RETRO magazine in future boxes!

What did you think about June's Arcade Block?

Watch is pretty cool I think, but I have an issue about that. After some time, it resets itself. Time goes back to 8:35, and date goes to 1.1. And also, lover button stucks sometimes. Is this common, or just my bad luck?

mine doesn’t reset, but I do accidentally hit the button and change the time lol

I love that Coexist sticker! I’ll have to keep an eye out in the swap section.

I do think it’s dangerous to customer satisfaction when so much of a box’s value is rolled up into one item like this watch.

This is my first and last Arcade Box. I liked the T-shirt but the rest of the items were pretty dull. The watch was particularly poor and didn’t actually work. You priced it at $50, but by a coincidence I’d bought one through the Geek/Wish app (which links to Chinese suppliers) for £2 the week before. Even for £2 ($3) I felt a bit cheated, but at least it worked.

Well I picked a bad month to subscribe. :/ I really liked the older Arcade Blocks when they had quirky items like the pacman salt and pepper shakers, or the Zelda shot glass. I got a 3 month sub so here’s hoping July isn’t a total bust..

July has 2 shirts and a pop! I think I may finally take the plunge lol

Well that’s definitely uplifting 😀 I can’t wait to see what pop it is!

This was my first Arcade Block and it was so bad that I unsubscribed. I love video games, but when you get a box and the best item inside is magnets that’s a huge red flag, at least for me. I wanted to give it another chance based on the previous boxes (which is why I initially subscribed) but I would’ve been more mad about getting another crappy box from them than missing out on a good one. I just subscribed to 1up Box and Super Geek Box in its place.

i actually really like the watch thought it was super unique and something I wouldn’t buy for myself, but like and the retail on it is great, but that was it I hate getting the magazine I’d rather have stuff and was disappointed that the exclusive metroid was a print that is very difficult to see.. although it was a great value in the box not very exciting this month
