Geek Fuel Subscription Box Review + Coupon – July 2015 - info

Good To Know: This month was advertised as an entirely exclusive month.

Geek Fuel Subscription Box Review + Coupon – July 2015 - shirt

Le Tour de Geek T-Shirt - Value $10?

While it's not my favorite shirt from a geek box, I do like the art work! Another interesting twist is that there is a variant yellow shirt this month - representing the leader in Le Tour de France's yellow leader shirt. Did anyone get a yellow shirt?

Marvel Civil War #1 - Value $3-4?

I did an unboxing, flipped through it, and took pictures, all just assuming it was the Civil War from 2007 that I've already read. It's only now that I'm writing this that I'm getting giddy realizing that this from the Secret Wars run - so it's new to me, and forgive me for completely missing it during my future unboxing video! This is an exclusive variant cover as well. It cam bagged and boarded, and with a certificate of authenticity.

Geek Fuel Subscription Box Review + Coupon – July 2015 - certificate

Just a couple extra shots of the certificate. I really appreciate when a box bags and boards their comics! It makes a world of difference.

Aliens vs. Vampirella Poster - Value ?

This is one of the larger, thicker, posters I've received in a geek box - or any box for that matter. While I'm not a big fan of either topics of the poster, it is an awesome Alien depiction and has a nice glossy finish.

Geek Fuel Subscription Box Review + Coupon – July 2015 - pint

Burnstar Downloadable Game - Value $10

This month's Steam game is Burnstar, and it comes with a pack of candies along with the download code. I was going to try to play this until I got bummed out and realized that it is PC only. Out of curiosity, does anyone know if they are packaging and selling download codes like this in stores now? Seems like a cool concept for and industry that is moving towards disc-less technology.

Ant-Man Mini-Pint Shot Glass - Value $5-10?

The next exclusive in the box is the Ant-Man "Mini-Pint". I love the simple graphic on the shot glass, and it's a fun way to describe a shot glass in the Ant-Man realm.

Shiny! Button - Value $1?

I couldn't figure out what this is from - Let me know in the comments!

Verdict: This one is impossible to judge from a value standpoint since it is entirely exclusive, so I'll have to purely focus on the items. While I like a couple of the items, one of those being a comic that I'm excited about reading, it's not my favorite box. If I could actually play Burnstar, it may have changed my opinion on the box, but as it stands I really didn't have a wow factor this month. That being said, I've loved the past couple of Geek Fuel boxes - so I'm already looking forward to the next one.

What did you think of this month's Geek Fuel?

Just wanted to point out that Firefly is available for streaming free if you have Amazon Prime.

I agree with everyone else, if you haven’t you must watch Firefly! My son and love it so much we even get excited when we watch Castle and Nathan Fillion makes Firefly references!!! Shiny!

Tamara

I deeply love that he does that.

It physically hurt that you didn’t know what “Shiny” was from! Just kidding, well… Those of us into Joss Whedon take it to heart. 😉 Seriously, if you haven’t watched Firefly and then Serenity you really should. Great show. Shiny, even!

The two chinese characters on the button can be loosely translated as tranquility.

Shanna

Close: it’s “Serenity,” which is the name of the ship on Firefly. 🙂

I didn’t get a yellow tee shirt, but I did get one of 50 “signed by the artist” comics.

I love avengers and Firefly, and the “mini pint” made me giggle. My son is hooked on Steam, so this box was a big win for me.

heyhey

the pin is from Firefly the TV show / Serenity the movie. “shiny cap’t.”

Eric, the button is a Firefly reference! If you’ve never seen the show, you need to do so NOW.

Yes! It’s unfortunately not very long. If you watch it, then you’ll stop getting badgered. 😉 Also, it’s an excellent show. 😀

Laurie

Seriously. You’re not allowed to review any nerd or geek boxes until you watch it. It had a depressingly short run (because Fox is/was run by idiots), so it shouldn’t take long.

Tamara

I know, right?

You are losing your geek cred by this minute!
It’s on Netflix. So is all of Buffy. And Angel. Serenity is not, but can be rented on Amazon Instant Video. Watch it! Waaaatch iiiiiiiit!

😀

Tamara

Yep. x100.

(Seriously. Joss Whedon is King of the Nerds for a reason!) 😀
