Geek Box Showdown July 2015

Previously, on Geek Box Showdown: Nerd Block to the inaugural victory for best box and best item in June. Can they hold on to the top spot in July? Find out below!

Just a note before starting - Since geek boxes are including more and more exclusive items, it's becoming harder to get a real value, so I figured I'd give a fair estimate of those items. Also, if the review has a value range - I took the high-end of the range.

Nerd Block Subscription Box Review + Coupon – July 2015 - items

Nerd Block Classic - Read the Full Review

The Cost: $19.99 plus shipping (Shipping is $8.75 to Canada, $9.50 to US, $12.50 Worldwide)

Number of items: 6

Value of items: $47

Exclusive Items: Cobra’s Motto T-Shirt, Ghostbusters Wallet, Mad Max Variant Cover, Spike Titans Vinyl Figure

Synopsis: This month's them was Humanity’s Last Hope. I really like 4 of the 6 items I received. The Mad Max comic was a great read, and the mini Iron Man is on my desk as I'm writing this. The value was a bit lower than last month - but it was a good collection of geeky goodies! My favorite item was the Ghostbusters wallet!

Loot Crate Subscription Box Review & Coupon – July 2015 - items

Loot Crate - Read the Full Review

The Cost: $13.37 plus $6 shipping a month

Number of items: 7 (not counting the monthly pin)

Value of items: $72.99

Exclusive Items:Exclusive Batman ’66 Q-Pop FigureThe League of Regrettable Superheroes Variant Cover

Synopsis: This month's them was Heroes 2. The value comes in well over the cost of this box. I absolutely loved 4 of the 7 items this month. the Q-Pop Batman is phenomenal, and it made me go look for more Q-Pop vinyls only to find very few available :(. Loved the Batman keychain, hardcover book, and the Steam game - Brawlhalla - has been my favorite Steam game from a box yet! This month, the Batman vinyl took the top spot for me!

Geek Fuel Subscription Box Review + Coupon – July 2015 - items

Geek Fuel - Read the Full Review

The Cost: $23.90 a month

Number of items: 6

Value of items: $40 (estimating the poster at $5)

Exclusive Items: All exclusive items this month!

Synopsis: This month didn't seem to have a theme, at least I couldn't find it on the card. I was excited for 2 of the 6 items this month, but I couldn't play the Steam game, because it was PC only - so that was a disappointment for me. That being said - the comic was the item of the box for me, while I haven't read it yet, I know it's gonna be ultra enjoyable for me!

Power Up Box Subscription Box Review – June 2015 - all items

Power Up Box: Premium Box - Read the Full Review

The Cost: $19.95 + $6.95 shipping a month for the Deluxe Box, $29.95 + $9.95 shipping for the Premium Box

Number of items: 8

Value of items: $58.94

Exclusive Items: None

Synopsis: This box does not have a theme, although it's very close to being a super hero/villain box. I was excited for 4 of the 8 items this month. I love the shirt and bobble head, and am excited to read the comic and use the playing cards! My favorite item this month is a tie between the shirt and the bobble head.

Verdict:

Favorite Box:  The winner for me was Loot Crate! It ended up having the highest value this month and had tons of fun items!

Favorite Item: My overall favorite item also came from Loot Crate - it was Q-Pop Batman '66 Vinyl Statue!

What was you favorite box, and favorite item this month? Have your say in the poll below and tell us about your favorite item in the comments!

Loot Crate’s box looked awesome! I used to subscribe to them but have never gotten a box packed with such awesome. I am so jealous! :-). I did get the Nerd Block Classic box and the T-shirt and Spike filled me with glee! The Power Up box had an amazing T-shirt (do most of the boxes do mash ups because then there aren’t licensing issues?) and the playing cards looked awesome. Although that Iron Man looks wrong and as a plush lover I would gave been sad to see that in person. I’m not feeling the GeekFuel box.

I REALLLLLY want Geek Fuel’s T-Shirt this month (don’t have the box) but Loot Crate won. I loved the multi-tool keychain and hardcover book
