Comicboxer Subscription Box Review - August 2015 - zim

Book Of Death #1 - Value 3.99

This month has a lot of new series for me - which is exactly what I'm looking for, so I'm excited! First up, Book Of Death #1 and it looks like its up my alley. Also of note, this is a rare variant cover edition that sells at $10 or more online.

Invader Zim #1 - Value $3.99

While I'm familiar with the show, I've never really watched it - so reading this may also suck up more of my time with the show if I like it. It's a risk I'm willing to take. Again, it's noted that this edition is selling at auction for $10 or more.

Comicboxer Subscription Box Review - August 2015 - civil-war

Secret Wars Civil War #1 - Value $4.99

I think this is the third time I've received this one in under a month. Whats nice is that each one I've received has been a different variant cover! I've now read this, and it's fantastic - in fact I've just picked up #2 today. If you're a fan of the 2006-2007 Civil War story arc, then this is an absolutely must read!

We Stand On Guard #1 - Value $3.99

This is the one I'm most excited to read this month. It's set 100 years from now and revolves around a band of Canadian civilians defending their homeland from a United States invasion. There's a story you don't hear every day. Very excited to give this a shot.

Comicboxer Subscription Box Review - August 2015 - archie

Archie #1 - Value $3.99

When I saw this one, I was kind of thinking "really?". What I didn't know was that this is the first new Archie comic in 75 years - so that's interesting. My expectations are low for this one, so maybe I'm open for a big surprise.

18 Days #1 - Value $1.00

This one was marked as a bonus item this month, and was also not bagged or boarded. While this doesn't seem to be my taste at first glance - I'll report back after I've read it.

Verdict: This is my second Comicboxer and it didn't disappoint. It's definitely worth noting again that the value in this box revolves around the curation and discovery of new comics, and if that's what you're looking for, this one is definitely for you! The cost will always, just about, break even with what you'd pay for each comic online and have them shipped to you.

The Archie reboot is one of the hottest comics right now. Fiona Staples does the art. That’s great right there and this is consistently getting high scores.

Huh. Archie next to a Grant Morrison book. That’s not something you see everyday. … O.o

I like some of the selections, but I just don’t see the value compared to picking these up in the store.

Our prices always include shipping, and Comicboxer charges $8 a month for shipping – so that’s why it’s listed at $27.99
