I just wanted to let everyone know that I tried to use the Essence beauty box website to complete an order for the October beauty box. The website was down, I called customer service – and they offered to place my order for me. I used the Save 5 and was charged 12.45 – stating state tax of 1.06 on the 5.00 off – checked my account and was actually charged 16.39. When I asked when will boxes ship, I was advised that I will receive the November box. I advised the customer service representative, that their twitter feed indicates the last day to order to receive the October box is 9/30/2015. She stated October boxes have already shipped. I replied that they are getting off to a bad start. I have sent an email asking for confirmation, I’m not to confident I will receive a reply, but who knows. I hate this is my first post to this site after visiting daily for well over a year. I just felt like I needed to let everyone interested in the Essence beauty box know what happened to me. I hope that the reviewing process does not take to long, so that those who would like to order the Oct. box will have this info

Ordered mine and am so excited to get it although I hate the CK scent (got it in a VoxBox and the mens’ version smells SO much better). I just hope down the line they’ll incorporate more products by B.O.B.s or at least companies by WoC. Ebony has the funds to make this box a great opportunity to help businesses in the community and other WoC.

I agree with you completely! I remember reading that the contents were supposed to be from independently owned businesses. I guess Essence changed their minds.

Vid on the site says “an item” from a B.O.B. – Guess that’s Curls this month?

Thank you! It worked for me, and will be $10. Can’t wait to get it!
I’m I able to subscribe for this box now or is it too late? If so, are there any coupon codes? I have dry curly hair 🙁 This would be lovely.

While I’m not a woman of color, I have to say that this looks tempting for me, as I have very course, dry, curly hair and dry skin, and those are the products I use. The Curls Creme Brule was in the most recent Target box, and it was heavenly. Smells wonderful, like a dessert, and you almost don’t need a separate styling product it keeps your hair so hydrated. I can’t begin tell you the number of volumizing products I’ve gotten over the years and have absolutely no use for.

I ordered the sub for my mom (her birthday is Oct 6) but now I wish I ordered for myself too. I knew she would appreciate the curly hair products and I figured I wouldn’t like it because I blow and flat iron my hair. I WANT the brow architect!

Your mom has the best birthday in the world!!! I’m tempted to sub this box. As a curly girl, I know a lot of products are hit and miss. For me in particular, there’s no in between. Oh…my birthday is also October 6th.

If you want to avoid dealing with products being a “hit or miss” for you, you should learn more about your hair. Because even though products don’t claim to be for certain hair types, they actually are. You can tell this by looking at their formulas and researching who the product was tested on (aka who the creators had in mind when they made it). Doing this helped me immensely and even helped me embrace things in my hair that I mistook for flaws.

That’s so cool! Happy early Birthday!
You should treat yourself to the box. You can always cancel if it doesn’t work out!

I don’t care about the Calvin Klein item AT ALL but I love everything else! So happy I dropped Ipsy and signed up for this instead.

I am very excited to see a box for women of color! I get seven different subs and this one will have hair products that I can actually use. My hair is not coarse at but it just doesn’t agree with a lot of the products that come in my other subs. I DO NOT need anything that adds volume and that seems to be all I get nowadays, even when I state that I have curly hair. Most people with curls don’t want to look like Simba. I cancelled my Birchbox for this box and it looks like it will be well worth it. Birchbox is just getting awful lately and the mini samples that you can get free at any retail store are just ridiculous for a box that I actually pay for. Thanks for letting me know about this new box!

Excited to receive, was hoping for full sizes after reading about the Tarte The Brow Architect, I’m excited to use. It’s all about the brows this fall in sub boxes with the Too Faced brow kit from PopSugar and now this item. I can’t wait to see the actual sizes.
