Honest Beauty is a brand new brand and subscription from the Honest Company. I could not wait to sign up for this subscription!

To start with, you can do a free trial box, and just pay $5.95 shipping to sample 3 skincare items and get a makeup bag too. (This review is of the trial kit for Oily Skin - they also have dry and combo skin options).

Makeup Bag - Value $5?

I love this little makeup bag! The outside is made with vegan leather, and the inside has a matching floral lining:

(Materials are BPA and PVC free).

Now on to the skincare samples:

Honest Beauty Beyond Protected Oil Free Daily Beauty Fluid - 10 ml Value $6.20

This beauty fluid (sunscreen) has a thicker consistency than the moisturizer, and takes a few seconds to rub in, but it has a non-greasy finish. I like the subtle scent too.

Honest Beauty Dependably Clear Oil Free Moisturizer - 5 ml Value $2.20

This moisturizer is a lightweight formula (absorbs quickly), with a natural earthy scent. The scent is pretty light too, so it didn't bother me (not my favorite natural scent though). I like how this left my skin - moisturized but not oily/greasy feeling at all. I'll get this in full-size for my upcoming Honest Beauty bundle.

Honest Beauty Refreshingly Clean Gel Cleanser - 30 ml Value $3.60

(This is the one beauty product that comes in all trial kits). It's pretty hard to disappoint me with a cleanser, and this one was good in my book. It's a foaming cleanser that doesn't dry out your skin, and of all the products sampled, this one is my favorite scent!

Verdict: This sample kit has a value of about $17. (Or $12 if you don't count the $5 value I assigned to the makeup bag). I think it's a great way to try out their skincare line, and I hope they launch a makeup sampling version soon too.

Of all the items I sampled, I will definitely get the moisturizer and gel cleanser in full-size. I like the Daily Beauty Fluid, but typically I don't apply a sunscreen everyday because my primer and/or BB Cream already has it built in, so I'm not sure I need that step.

What do you think of Honest Beauty? Have you sampled their skincare products yet?

Starting at $3.99

Oops! I reviewed this twice, well, everyone knows my opinion! I didn’t realize, I had already, until I hit submit. I don’t mean to sound like I am knocking this one, just stating my thoughts on this.

I’m wondering how this box will do, the $50 price tag, stops me in my tracks, and although I am okay with ‘natural’ products, cosmetics and skin care are not always one of them, due to smell and consistency of product. I worked as a beauty advisor in a big box store, for quite a few years, and love trying different products.. I subscribe to several monthly boxes, and my reason is to try new products, know whats out there, and just plain have fun with the make-up. There is so many boxes out there, for so much less. I won’t be subscribing to this one, due to the price.

Wish I had the bravery to post a pic of the large cystic zit that has formed on my cheek the day after trying these products. I think it was the one with the sunscreen that did this to me. Called to cancel and thankfully, was not pressured to keep trying stuff. That would have sent me over the edge.

Usually problems like that do not develop overnight and are reactions to skincare and/or hormonal issues from days (or even weeks) prior.

It bugs me that you have to call to cancel, there’s no way to do it online. And then, when I did get someone on the phone, they gave me a really hard sell to not cancel. That plus the extremely high cost of the bundle left a bad taste in my mouth. I like this company’s products, but this will be a pass for me, forever. Alas!

The grey makeup bag and grey products made me think that 2nd pic was in black & white, lol. I’m going to skip this one. Too pricey and Jessica Alba is rich enough already.

“Vegan leather”? I guess they mean “not leather”.

People think it sounds better than “polyurethane” which is probably what it is…

For the $50 a month do you get the same 3 products or can you substitute color products?

You can pick any three items you want from skincare or the makeup collection!

I have to say I was shocked at first at how small the samples were, but since I had a trip coming up I decided to bring them with me (I made sure to cancel my subscription before I left, as I would be gone for more than the 7 days they give us before they automatically charge $50 our accounts). I got the dry skin sampler. I used the tinted moisturizer this morning after my Acure face scrub, and I have to say that my face feels as smooth as a baby’s bottom. I don’t know if I would have had the same effect if I had used Honest’s cleanser instead. So, so far so good. I didn’t like the scent at all, though, and would prefer an unscented facial product, but the scent wore off pretty early on. On a good note, I was impressed that the tinted moisturizer was sheer enough that it matched my skin tone just fine. I will be trying the face cream before bed tonight.

Just put on the face cream. It’s very emollient, but wow so much heavy scent! It almost made me dizzy. Not sure why face products need these heavy fragrances…

Hey Liz, which is your go-to BB Cream?

Liz Cadman

It varies depending on my state of paleness 🙂 but I love IT Cosmetics CC Cream: http://www.itcosmetics.com/your-skin-but-bettertm-cc-cream-with-spf-50

I like my BB/CC Creams to have a lot of coverage, and this one is great for coverage!
