Little Box of Calm Subscription Box Review + Coupon September 2015 - box

Little Box of Calm

Little Box of Calm is a monthly subscription that sends items designed to help promote inner peace and a sense of calm. I could definitely use more calm in my life!

Little Box of Calm Subscription Box Review + Coupon September 2015 - info

This is the info note that was included with the package, detailing all the items within. It was rolled up and tied with string - very cute! They do a great job describing the items and why they were chosen for this package.

Little Box of Calm Subscription Box Review + Coupon September 2015 - puzzle

Mini Paint Can Puzzle - Value $1

This is absolutely brilliant! It's a jigsaw puzzle of a solid color! Although I think yellow is the color of madness - I would prefer a more tranquil color like blue or purple. In any case, I think the act of sitting down and putting together a puzzle would definitely help calm a person down, especially a puzzle as zen as this one.

Little Box of Calm Subscription Box Review + Coupon September 2015 - doll-candle

Worry Doll - Value $1

Lavender Soy Tealight Candle - Value $1

These little worry dolls are so cute! I had some tiny ones before - I think they are from Guatemala. Unfortunately, they have never been able to erase my worries!

The candle smells great, like real lavender, and lavender is such a calming fragrance.

Little Box of Calm Subscription Box Review + Coupon September 2015 - rocks

Motivational Stones - Value $1 each

Raw Blue Apatite Crystal - Value $1

I don't have blue apatite among my collection of crystals yet, so I'm glad to have this one! Blue apatite is supposed to be helpful in clarity of thought. Here's hoping! The motivational stones are a nice inclusion, but they are not really to my personal taste, so these will be passed along.

Little Box of Calm Subscription Box Review + Coupon September 2015 - teas

Yogi Honey Lavender Stress Relief Tea - Value $0.25 each

Tazo Calm Chamomile Tea - Value $0.25 each

I haven't tried this particular Yogi tea before, but I have found that generally Yogi teas work as they are intended. Honey and Lavender together sounds awesome! I haven't had any Tazo teas in a long time, but I remember them being really tasty. Chamomile is soothing and so good for digestion.

Verdict: This is a lovely collection of items that I do believe are calm-inducing. I think the curation was thoughtful and spot-on. That being said, I have to note that the retail value of all items combined comes to only about $7. I would expect a box like this to have a value at least roughly equal to the cost of the box. I also was a little disheartened to find that three of the items appear to have come from Oriental Trading, bought in lots and split up. That really takes away from the specialness of the package for me. I like the idea behind the Little Box of Calm, but I would love to see them deliver items that are more unique and of a higher value.

Hi Kymm,

Daniil from calmbox here. Please note that this review is for the “Little Box of Calm” which is a separate and unrelated subscription box to us. We’re called “calmbox” and you were probably looking at our website 🙂

Anna you were very kind and generous with your review but I was shocked when I saw the price vs the “merch” and what is perceived to be calming items. Think of other boxes at the same price point and the value you get for the same cost. I am glad to see this curation was sent to MSA for review purposes so they will get an idea of how their concept is perceived and wait to see if they respond and address the concerns presented by you and the other commenters?!

Hmm… it’s from CrateJoy. I’m suspicious of sellers from that site. I feel like they aren’t as invested in picking out items. But, I don’t know much about it so it’s just my crazy thoughts. Also, you should leave a review on their CrateJoy page to let other potential subscribers know. Aside from that awful Date Night puzzle box, I don’t think I’ve seen such a low value box!!

What a rip-off. I hope the company is reading this review.

Do you think an item is missing? I’ve never seen a box with such a low value. And yellow is energizing… not calm. It makes me wonder if the company is starting to have ‘issues’?

No item is missing. Another review had the same crap items..except a RED puzzle. Again, not a color that’s calming!

Yellow is a color for creativity!

Calm must mean “Calm the F down when you open this box.”

Lots of rocks – Yellow is a color i don’t think of when I think of when being calm. Puzzles can be frustrating unless there is glue. I dont sub, yet if I did I would not be so calm opening this box and realizing I spent $24.99 for it

Honestly this just looks like a rip off to me. All the items look cheap. I don’t think this box could possibly last, maybe buf it was like a $ 5 box. Anyone could take that $25 and make their own relaxing themed box, or better yet take that money and get s pedicure ! That’s relaxing !

OMG YES! I was thinking the same thing 🙂

Elaine

I agree. Calm is not the work I would be thinking of if I purchased that at any price point. 🙁

Christina

Oh the irony! I would be anything but calm if I had spent $25 on this collection of junk!

EC

Wow, it’s not hard to do that value math. $25 for $7 worth of cheap, mass produced junk. Talk about overpromising and under delivering.
