Le Matchbox is a brand new subscription box from Jouer Cosmetics. I’ve sampled Jouer thanks to Birchbox, and I’ve been very impressed with their makeup products, so I signed up for this box immediately!
UPDATE: This subscription is currently out of stock. But you can buy just the fall box.
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).
FYI - my subscription to Jouer was cancelled due to a billing issue, so I ended up just buying this as a one-time purchase box. I believe that's why I received it so quickly.
The Subscription Box: Le Matchbox
The Cost: $45 a quarter for subscriptions. Subscriptions are currently sold out, but this box is available for $65
The Products: “Each selection is determined by responses to our quiz, providing you with an assortment of full size Jouer essentials most flattering for your coloring and suitable for your skin type.
Each curated box is accompanied with a mini magazine providing product details and application tips. Jouer delivers the most advanced skincare benefits, effortlessly luxurious colors, in smart on-the-go packaging.”
Keep track of your subscriptions: Add this box to your have list or wish list.
When you first sign up for this box you take a quiz to determine if your skin is warm or cool toned, and that will dictate which makeup shades you receive. (My box is cool tone).
The box comes with an info booklet that details all the items you may receive. (Palette and lip gloss are determined by warm or cool box selection).
Jouer Long-Wear Eye Brightening Primer - FULL SIZE! Value $24
Jouer Kitten Liner - FULL SIZE! Value $28
Yay - both of these items are paraben free! The click pen applicator for the primer is great for getting it on my lids evenly - I only needed to blend with my finger a tiny bit. I'm wearing it and the eyeshadow from this box right now - so far no creasing!
The eyeliner is a new product that is launching first in the Jouer Le Matchbox. There is nothing too revolutionary about this product, but it goes on smoothly, stays put and is easy to apply right against the lashline. No complaints! (Liner swatched in a photo below)
Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss Mini in Pink Glace - 2.5 ml Value $11
(This is the cool box color selection. The warm box will include the Starfish shade). This shade is pretty sheer with a lot of shimmer and gloss. (Swatched below).
Now onto my favorite part of the box... the palette!
Jouer Ready to Wear Cool Collection Palette - Retail Value $45 (in the booklet, Jouer lists this as "$45 Value $100")
(This is the cool version of the palette. The warm version includes the same bronzer and highlighter, but the blush and eyeshadow shades are different).
Yay for palettes! There's something about the upcoming holiday season that just makes me want to buy all the palettes. (This is probably because all makeup companies release amazing looking palettes around this time each year!)
The bronzer is a matte shade, and the blush has a subtle shimmer to it. The highlighter goes on so sheer I couldn't photograph it for swatches, but I absolutely love the formula. You get a sheen/slight shimmer without any white.
The top two eyeshadow shades are matte, and the bottom two are shimmer. The Havana shade looks super sparkly in the pan, but the sparkles aren't as noticeable when applied. (I've swatched all colors in the photo below).
And the palette comes with a fold-out card with tips on how to apply the eyeshadows for different looks.

And each box comes with a tote:
I believe there will be variation on the tote text. The tote itself is a good quality one. It's bigger than a Golden Tote (trying to think of a good tote reference), and it has a bottom section as well (so it could stand up if you have items in it).
Verdict: This box has a value of about $118 if you value the tote at $10. I think that's a pretty good value for the $65 cost, but I wish I had ordered this with the 25% coupon! I would definitely be happy with it for that price. I think all the items are great quality, and I like the eye makeup theme for this box.
What do you think of the Fall 2015 Jouer Le Matchbox?
