The included pamphlet isn’t for the mystery box.  It’s more like a mini catalog for Julep’s Holiday Gifts this year.  It’s really nice.  I’ve never tried any on Julep’s eyeshadows, this one reminds me of the Urban Decay Naked Palette.

Julep - Luxe Care Hand Creme - Value: $20.00

I really like the packaging from Julep, but I didn’t care for this hand lotion.  In my opinion, this is great for an overnight foot creme.  It’s very thick and a little too greasy for the first 10+ minutes to even consider using this during the work day. Also, maybe it’s me, but I didn’t care for the scent.  The addition of a sweet smelling essential oil or fragrance would really make a positive impact.  It’s possible I have a bad batch, the box and the creme have “2013” labels.

Julep - Gel Eye Glider in Sepia Brown Shimmer - Value: $16.00

Unfortunately, I believe this color is discontinued.  It’s beautiful!  The closest colored shade online now is Smoky Taupe Shimmer.  They may even be the same, maybe it was just a name change.  Also, this eye crayon didn’t come with a box, I’m assuming the formula was suppose to be the same as the colors offered now.  But, I didn’t find this pencil long lasting or waterproof.  I do love the color but it most definitely needs a primer and to be set with a similar colored shadow.

Julep - Lock Down Your Brows Iconic Brow Gel - Value: $22.00

Yes!! I really wanted to try this brow setting gel from Julep. I only hate that the brush is so tiny! I have thick eyebrows.  I haven’t found my staple brow gel yet, so tell me what brow gels you like best or an application tip.

Julep - When Pencil Met Gel Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Deep Raisin - Value: $16.00

You guys, as soon as I watched this on my wrist, I immediately knew I was going to wear this as a lip liner.  Yes, a lip liner. My swatch below brings no justice again and this is also the reason why I switched a few nail polishes and stopped.  My lighting is altering the colors somehow.  This “lipliner”, LOL, is a beautiful dark purple!  I’ve been mixing it with the Black Radiance lip gloss in Blackberry I received a few month’s back in a Cocotique box.  They were meant for each other!! I’m telling you, if you got this shade, just try it like this at least once!  No one will think you're crazy, dark plum lips are trending on all skin tones right now.  So give it a go! #bravepretty

Julep So Fancy Mystery Nail Polishes + Free Polish

Here’s a look at all the Julep polishes I received this month. Six came with the mystery box and the last polish on the right is my free polish.  I’ll talk about that one later.  For whatever reason, swatches took on a completely different shade!  This photo shows the colors best.  All of Julep nail polishes are 5-Free and Vegan

Julep Mystery Box So Fancy Review - 15

Danica - Boho Glam - Value: $14.00

This shade is a blue with the smallest amount of shimmer.  The formula is thin and would be great over a darker shade of blue.

Julep Mystery Box So Fancy Review - 16

Jeanette - Bombshell - Value: $14.00

This is one of the exclusive shades to the box.  It’s a deep plum with lots of maroon and pink shimmers. It’s very pretty, and super girly.  Abigail would love this for sure!

Julep Mystery Box So Fancy Review - 17

Jade - Boho Glam - Value: $14.00

This is the other exclusive shade.  I’m not sure how to describe this color?!  It’s grey, but it’s green...it’s dull but full of shimmery blue, green and silver and orange flecks.  Best described as a graffiti wall in a bottle.

Julep Mystery Box So Fancy Review - 18

Carla - It Girl - Value: $14.00

How did Julep know I’m a sucker for pink nail polish!?  I love pinks like this, you can layer it with so many different glittery nail polishes.  I’m wearing it this week and I’m pretty sure it will be gone for Christmas.

Julep Mystery Box So Fancy Review - 19

Sharna - It Girl - Value: $14.00

I’m not sure if you can even call this a nail polish.  It’s just liquid gold glitter.  It’s so heavy on the brush, and didn’t distribute evenly.  I’ll have to play around with it more.

Julep Mystery Box So Fancy Review - 20

Queen Anne - It Girl - Value: $14.00

Unfortunately, Queen Anne is the exact formulation as Sharna.  Tons of heavy glitter and no actual color of the liquid.  Heavy Metal...that’s a good shade name for these!  LOL

Jet - It Girl - Value: $14.00

I used code “NOVEMBER” to grab an extra polish for free!!  After receiving some the Lucky Black Cat nail wraps from Scratch last month, I quickly realized I didn’t own a single black nail polish.  So I had to pick this up!  The formula is thin, but it’s a true black and that’s exactly what I needed.  A few coats and a top coat should do the trick.

Julep Fold-Over Clutch - Value: $20.00?

I thought this was a good estimate.  I found fold-over clutches anywhere from $17-$200 on up!  I really like it too.  It matches my everyday tote perfectly and I love the printed lining!  I want to move all my “purse makeup” into this bag.

Ok truth time: If you dumped out your purse right now, how many lipsticks, lipbalms, rollerballs, blushes, etc.. would you find? I counted 8, after I took out my old makeup pouch! Shameful!

Julep Mystery Box So Fancy Review - 27

Verdict: The So Fancy Mystery Box had an estimated retail value of $192.00! That’s an awesome bargain for the asking price.  I may not have fallen in love with the hand creme, but it’s pretty darn close to my favorite thing, oils.  I can easily fix it up with a good smelling body oil from another box.  I’m head over heels with my new favorite “lip liner” and the pastel pink nail polish.  The two exclusive colors wow’d me in different ways: the graffiti color, I’m eager to play with more and the shimmery plum color will no doubt look stunning on Abigail’s tiny digits.

Oh wow! So glad I clicked on this review. I had always assumed Julep mystery boxes were polish only. I had no idea they were so full of fun stuff. I might have to jump on the next one. Great review, too!

Brown shimmer and smokey taupe are different colors – I have both! Julep doesn’t always sell all the colors… Some are seasonal and others I’ve only seen in gift packs of multiple eyeliners.

If I dumped out my purse right now… It would be a lot. 2 lip balms (1 pink tinted, 1 plain), 1 cream blush, 2 eyeliners, 1 powder compact, 1 lip liner, 4 glosses, 5 lipsticks… I’m sure I’m forgetting some. But I never know what colors I’ll need and rarely “put my lips on” before I leave the house!

The 2013 on the hand cream is a trademark/copyright date not an expiry or production date.

WOW! Ya’ll I must have ordered too fast, I do not remember ordering the Add-On. My Bad Folks I just look back at my order history. #blogfail….BUT, I’d say it’s still a great bargain…Did anyony try Deep Raisin as a lip liner?!! It’s Amazing!

Great review, Celicia! Did you get an add on because I didn’t receive as much as you did in my box. I really liked this box a lot though! Thanks 🙂

I sure did Gail, I must have clicked too quickly! LOL. I don’t remember ordering an add on…just the Free Polish!

I’ve done the same thing before, I just like to think of it as a surprise present.. until I check my bank statement that is! 😀 I love the idea of the eyeliner as lip liner, the color is trending right now… I’ll have to get brave and try it!

I got the same things, only I had ordered the Major mystery add-on for $14.99. So I called and they said the Sharna nail polish and the sepia shimmer glider are the Major mystery add-on and not part of the So Fancy Mystery box. Since they do not separate the items it is hard to tell. Just thought I would clarify in case someone was thinking all of this items come in the Mystery box. Too good to be true:/

Oh man you got more stuff than me!! I got everything as you except no Eye Glider in the Brown Shimmer and one less nail polish. That being said, I LOVED my box (haven’t tried the hand cream yet) but thought the value was AMAZING for $25!!! I took a break from the Julep Mystery Boxes for awhile and will now only get them if I love the spoilers and this one had great ones! My three mystery polishes are different than yours and I literally squealed when I saw them!! (Plus the free one I picked I obviously love to). I gifted the Raisin eyeliner to a girlfriend and she squealed too 🙂 Highly recommend this box if anyone is still debating!!

I also got one less polish and didn’t get the brown eyeliner (the polishes I did get are the same as the ones reviewed). I’m going to wait and see what others get before contacting Julep; that Sharna looks interesting.

The Sharna and the glider are an add on, not part of the box. I contacted them.

Lokelani

This looks like a nice mystery box! it looks like julep’s mystery box has improved since i stopped being a maven.

The glittery formulas like queen anne, i like to layer over the gritty polishes like the stardust finish. Seems to catch the glitter better and i liked playing with the color combos 🙂

Sylvia

That’s a great idea, Lokelani! I just painted my nails yesterday, but now I’m going to have to drag my Julep Helmers out and start over. See what you did? 😉

Mona

My all time favorite brow gel is the Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel. I love it! 🙂

Celicia Gantz

Thanks Mona and Asagao! I will have to try it for sure! The Julep brush is so little. I’d use an extra mascara brush I got from Choix if it was a little bit longer.

Reply ButtonReply

Asagao

Agreed! It’s my fave, too. Has a much longer brush if that’s what you want.
