This month's theme is snails! Gross! And perfect for my seven-year-old son.
This is the information card that details everything included.
Simply 7 Quinoa Chips - Value $1
Everyone liked these chips, which was a first! Then I looked at the ingredients and nutrition info and realized that it's because they're not as super healthy as you might think...
The End of the Beginning: Being the Adventures of a Small Snail (and an Even Smaller Ant) by Avi - Value $6.95 on Amazon
One of my favorite things about Surprise Ride is that they always send a book for the kids! This book won a Newbury Medal and got 4.5 stars - very promising. From Amazon:
"Avon the snail has never had an adventure. And adventure, he has heard, is the key to a happy life. So with his new friend Edward the ant, Avon sets out on a journey to find the excitement his life has been missing."
One of our two crafts this month was to create "snail mail." Pretty clever! These are the supplies that were included.
The craft was all about stamp making, and these are the stamps my son made. On the left is a postcard stamped with his snail stamp, and on the right is an open greeting card stamped with his snail stamp plus his initials stamp. They turned out great!
The second project was to create snail slime! It's been a while since we made a batch of slime, so we decided to go for it. These were our supplies. Surprise Ride also sends a couple of small toys every month, and this month I accidentally included them in this picture (I was confused about what everything was when I first opened the box and took pictures). In the background is a yellow slimy slug, and in the foreground is a green and brown wind-up moving snail.
Ewwww! It turned out great! It reminds me of cranberry sauce. Sorry, the second picture is blurry - it's very hard to wrangle slime and take a picture at the same time!
The Verdict: This was another great package from Surprise Ride. They tend to have pretty unusual themes, and the items included truly do make for a fun surprise. My son loves this box, and the items and activities they send keep him busy for quite a while. The value is definitely there!
