This month's theme revolved around fantasy!

Nerd Block Subscription Box Review + Coupon January 2016 - shirt

Deathly Hallows Shirt - Value $10?

This month's shirt is a great Harry Potter representation. I love the skull with the scar - very cool design this month.

Nerd Block Subscription Box Review + Coupon January 2016 - Khal Drogo funko figure

Khal Drogo 6" Legacy Collection Figure - Value $10.56 on Amazon

I really had no clue that Funko also made figures like this! There were 6 possibilities for you to receive in the box - Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, Tyrion, The Hound, White Walker, and the one I received, Khal Drogo. They're very nice figures too - lots of articulation and very nicely detailed paint and accessories.

Nerd Block Subscription Box Review + Coupon January 2016 - notebook and keychain

Your Neverending Story Notebook - Value $10?

This is an exclusive item this month. This very nicely bound notebook is a call out to Neverending Story! I haven't watched that movie in a very long time, but I do remember watching it while I was young, and being scared of the Rock Eater, and sad when his horse died. I was also deathly afraid of Falkor. Why did I watch this movie so many times while I was young if I was scared of so many characters/scenes!?

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry Crest Keychain - Value $9 on Amazon

The second Harry Potter item this month is this Hogwarts keychain! It's a very nice diecast metal keychain with each crest on it!

Nerd Block Subscription Box Review + Coupon January 2016 - print and movie cell

Unreal Estate 4: Concerning Hobbits print - Value $5?

This print was penned by Tim Doyle and depicts Bilbo Baggins' hobbit hole. I really like the artistic style of this print!

Harry Potter Film Cell Bookmark -  Value $11.99 on Amazon

I'm pulling value for this item from a similar HP movie cell bookmark on Amazon. This is from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. I tried getting a picture of the cell, and even scanning it, but nothing produced a good image where you could see which cell I got. My cell is a great scene depicting Voldemort (that's right, I said it) vs. Harry!

Verdict: This is a fantastic month of goodies from Nerd Block! I'm not a major fantasy fan, but I am a fan of all the franchises picked here - so it's a major win for me! I love it when geek boxes vary up the types of figures they send, and Nerd Block does a great job of that - the Khal Drogo figure was a real highlight for my unboxing!

I was able to get a fairly good picture of my film cel by backlighting it with the flashlight from a phone on the table and keeping the flash off when I took a picture from another phone. Mine has Alan Rickman (R.I.P.) as Headmaster Snape in the Great Hall. I was not disappointed in this block!

Has anyone noticed the sign on the gate in the Hobbit print? “No admittance except on panty business” My husband found this hilarious!

I kind of regret getting this one. The Harry Potter shirt is creepy to me and looks like it belongs in Horror Block. It doesn’t strike me as being Harry Potter related even though I know it is. I wanted the GoT to be anything other than a figure. I was going to gift the GoT item to my husband, but he is not a fan of figures. I do love the notebook and book mark though. I watched the Neverending Story so many times as a kid even though it mostly scared me lol

If you decide to swap the hox or most of it, I have a good bit of items from past boxes.

I didn’t get anything that I saw advertised as being part of the January Classic Block. No Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Hobbit, etc. Very disappointing, as I’m not a fan of anything in my block (aside from one item).

I’m going to swap the notebook when I receive it if anyone is interested!

I didn’t get this box because I’m not a huge Harry Potter fan and haven’t watched much of GoT…but I’m a bit jealous over that notebook! The Neverending Story was/is one of my favorite movies. I always loved to read and as a kid loved the thought of going into a story I was reading, like in the movie.

Nice, back to back good all around months by Nerd Block. Though, I don’t get the shirts Harry Potter reference.

It’s the Deathly Hollows. The Invisibility Cloak (the triangle), The Elder Wand and The Resurrection Stone (represented by Harry’s skull).
