New Beauty Test Tube is a bi-monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Every other month they send you a tube full of deluxe and full-size beauty samples and you also get a subscription to New Beauty Magazine. It’s a little pricier than other beauty subscriptions, but in general, the value is usually great. (FYI – this is a different subscription from the QVC New Beauty Test Tube which is no longer shipping).

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Supersmile Professional Whitening Toothpaste in Original Mint - SUPERSIZE! Retail Value $40

This toothpaste is the size of a shampoo bottle! I like the Supersmile toothpaste formula, so this is a win for me. (Especially because I would never pay $40 for toothpaste in real life!) Based on the booklet, subscribers will either receive this or $5 Supersmile gum. I would be pretty disappointed if I recieved the gum given the huge value difference.

Mally Evercolor Starlight Waterproof Eyeliner in Sailor - FULL SIZE! Value $18

If I had to give New Beauty Test Tube a tagline it would be, "There Will Be Mally Eyeliners." There is nothing wrong with the Mally eyeliner - the formula is great and it goes on SO smoothly. (Swatched below). But, if you subscribe to this box for a while, you will soon have a mini Mally collection!

Dermalogica Daily Exfoliant - .45 oz Value $9.34

I'm really excited to see Dermalogicia in this box! I've been using my skincare set from the Winter FabFitFun box, and happy to have more from this brand. This exfoliant is a powder you mix with water to create a paste. It's gentle enough to use everyday, and it is free of parabens and fragrance!

Cailyn Dizzolv'It - 13 ml Value $4.70

This product is a "Makeup Melt Cleansing Balm." It is hands down my favorite discovery in the box, and I found myself accidently referring to it as "Magic Melt" in my head! This is an oil formula you use to remove makeup by applying it to dry skin and massaging to remove all makeup. It worked almost instantaneously on my hard-to-remove eyeliner, and left my skin super smooth after washing it off with water.

Hask Beauty Repair That Hair Leave In Spray - FULL SIZE! Value $6

(Subscribers will either receive this or the Express Blow Dry Spray). This is a lightweight spray designed to tame flyaways, add shine, and detangle. It smells good and made my hair soft - not bad for a $6 spray!

Fromm Beauty Diane Mini Brush - Value $5

I already have a few mini travel brushes (thanks, subscription boxes!), so this one will be donated.

new-beauty-test-tube-jan-2016-tan-towel

TanTowel Packets in X-Foliator, Classic, Plus and Face Tan - Value $8

I've sampled these before, and out of all the self-tanners I've tried, they come out somewhere in the middle. For my skintone, so far my favorite self tanner has been from tarte.

Bliss That's Incredi-Peel - Value $1.60

I love a skincare product with simple instructions:

Step 1: Gently wipe pad over clean dry skin.

Step 2: Do not rinse.

Done! I have somewhat sensitive skin at times, so I was a little worried about trying this, but I had no redness or issues!

new-beauty-test-tube-jan-2016-chew

NeoCell Beauty Bursts - 10 soft chews Value $5

I love a vitamin in Starburst form, so I was excited to try these. They aren't as good as Starbursts (thank goodness, because I would likely be suffering from a Vitamin overdose right now). But they are pretty tasty, and definitely something I would look forward to eating everyday. My husband Eric has been taking collagen powder in his coffee to help with joints, and he's noticed a major difference, so I'm hoping that this will work well for me in getting strong nails, hair and better skin tone.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $98. (Not counting the value of the magazine you also get separately). I'm happy with the value this month, and I found some new products I love. I will be purchasing full-size version of the NeoCell Beauty Bursts, and the Cailyn Dizzol'It soon! What do you think of the January New Beauty Test Tube?

I used the link on this page for the 30% off and I’m so confused. I made an account with my email and created a password, then added my address credit card number.. ect. Well, after I got my receipt, I was going to check my account, but it seems I had to sign back in. So I tried to sign in and it’s saying the account doesn’t exist!!! They already took the money out.. but where’s my account? Has this happened to anyone else? I’m so confused.

I do not think it is just a coincidence that this blogger gets the high value box. I was one of the unfortunate who received the gum 🙁
After reading this review, and the fact that the reviewers box was gratis for the review and received the $40 whitening paste, it seems dishonest to send reviewer/blogger items that are significantly more valuable than the average subscriber. I commend you Liz for stating that you were sent the box for review. I have been satisfied, not thrilled with the subscription but this was the last straw for me. It is like a bait and switch. I do not do business with those who are intentionally out to deceive consumers. The disparity in value of the reviewed box vs. the actual box delivered to subscribers is not a smart strategy if you want to keep the subscribers you already have.

I have received the toothpaste as well in this box. I can see your point of view getting the gum would be disappointing to say the least. I do love this brand but not sure if I would spend $40 on toothpaste.

This was the first beauty sub I ever tried and I used to LOVE it. I cancelled about a year ago because of all the repeats over and over again. Looks like this box is good but knowing the Mally eyeliner repeat (I have a HUGE collection thanks to NBTT) and the toothpaste/gum debacle, I’m passing yet again. I really want to subscribe again because I LOVED this sub, but I’m happy to see a review so I can go back to hiding from it!

After 18 months subscribed I dropped this one last month. The Nov box was the clincher with all of the food products and multiple missing items and wide value disparity from subscriber to subscriber. Gum or toothpaste? Last tube had a teeth whitening kit, the same biotin chews (2 packs), a single collagen drink shot, a single sheet mask, Biosilk leave in conditioner, a one use tanning glove, a tiny Aloe body lotion sample and a pink Color Secrets nail polish. Not a good value. At all. This looks marginally better but at their price point (more than double the average beauty sub) I expect a lot better than what they’ve been sending.

Hey Liz,
I can totally relate to Eric taking collagen for his joints. I have a condition that affects my joint health and have been taking a collagen supplement for over a year now. I love the Great Lakes Hydrolyzed Collagen but I have to say I squealed a little seeing it in a yummy candy!!! ? I couldn’t buy them because I would also end up overdosing also!!! I was always eating the pink and red starburst first so those would only make it worse. Hehe!!! Back to joint health…I get so much energy from the one I take and it blends well in coffee, tea, hot cocoa, cold water…pretty much any drink. I might get some of the chews for when I’m out and can’t take the powder one…or maybe if I even do leave town (that’ll probably never happen but you can’t blame a girl for tryin!!! ?) or something fun like that! This box looks way cool but I can’t. ? The husband has noticed the lack of space…??? Men! Ugh!

I agree! I would actually purchase this box right now (is it still available?), but I would be so upset if I got the gum that I am scared to even try it!!! That is a huge value discrepancy… it seems illogical.

I feel like I would be LIVID if all I got was gum instead of a $40 toothpaste.

Victoria

seriously! what is with the huge price-difference? Do they think their customers wouldn’t notice the large value disparity? If I was sub I would probably unsub.

Given the prevalence of this site and online reviews in general, they should think things through.

the value difference between boxes is ridiculous! its the same thing that happened almost a last year or was it the year before? anyway, for their spring box they sent out an amazing box worth close to $200 of products, when they were doing the extra/bonus samples bags, and in some peoples extra/bonus sample bags (I was one of the lucky ones) there was the Hydroxatone Antiwrinkle cream worth $80 and once people saw all of the reviews the subscribers that didn’t get that high of a value box(w/bonuses) were upset AND New Beauty Test Tube got a SHIT TON of new subscribers and they were all upset that the spring box was sold out an then the next boxes after that one is when the company just went WAAAAAAAYYYYY downhill, everyone was soooooo disappointed, I just couldn’t believe it…I canceled and especially since I could get way better from boxycharm for half the price, it was such a let down cause this was my FAVORTIE subscription, my very first one. such a disappointment 🙁

Khaleesi142

Ok I like 🙂 Especially that Dermalogica scrub, I got to try some at Ulta at a free event so I would love a huge and expensive toothpaste ?
