Boy 21 by Matthew Quick - Retail Value $10 (On Amazon for $6.37)

Book Summary from Amazon:

You can lose yourself in repetition--quiet your thoughts; I learned the value of this at a very young age.

Basketball has always been an escape for Finley. He lives in broken-down Bellmont, a town ruled by the Irish mob, drugs, violence, and racially charged rivalries. At home, his dad works nights, and Finley is left to take care of his disabled grandfather alone. He's always dreamed of getting out someday, but until he can, putting on that number 21 jersey makes everything seem okay.

Russ has just moved to the neighborhood, and the life of this teen basketball phenom has been turned upside down by tragedy. Cut off from everyone he knows, he won't pick up a basketball, but answers only to the name Boy21--taken from his former jersey number.
As their final year of high school brings these two boys together, a unique friendship may turn out to be the answer they both need.

This sample chapter is 28 pages. I've had The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices series on my to-be-read list for a while and I'm guessing I should read those first before getting into this book. If you've read those series and recommend them, let me know!

I have more notebooks than I need at this point thanks to subscription boxes, but I appreciate that The Book Drop added a bonus item this month!
Verdict: I like that The Book Drop has started to include some extras with each box - it helps add to the value. That being said, I was assuming the paperbacks included would be newly released paperbacks. I don't own Boy 21, though, so I guess it worked out! The value of this box is about $12, so I would recommend signing up for The Book Drop if you are looking for a surprise book each month in the genre of your choosing, but not if you are looking for a high value box, or to meet Amazon prices. What do you think of The Book Drop?

The Mortal Instruments and Infernal Device series are my all time favorite book series. I read all different types of fiction and am 47 so these books do not just appeal to kids and young adults. I will read anything Cassandra Claire writes!!

To Liz,
I started out with the Mortal Instruments and then went to The Infernal Devices series. The instruments gave an instroductuon to past and present characters in the books. I can’t wait for the next series to start. It will be more today and you will still see and hear reference to past players in the books. The movie nor the tv show does the books justice but I am still watching the tv show and watched the movie. To be honest I enjoyed these books more than the Twilight or Harry Potter.

I’ve been a fan of Cassandra Clare’s since her fanfiction days, and I love her stuff! I definitely recommend The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices! I wouldn’t say they’re flawless works of literature, but they’re great fun and high on my all-time favorites list.

If you have too many notebooks, then you should make one of your giveaways a notebook surprise pack! I’m a college student, I can never have too many notebooks of any size! Maybe that wouldn’t gain enough interest and would be too expensive to ship though. 🙂 Thanks for the reviews.

I like that idea! I was also planning on doing another custom subscription box giveaway soon, so notebooks can be an option for an item! 🙂
