The illustrations on the shipping box are seriously adorable. I really love it when companies put thought into their packaging as well as into the curation of the box!
I am always a huge fan of information cards in boxes, so I was excited to see one in this box particularly. Since the box is comprised of items from individual artisans, I loved seeing the information that Serena included on the information card. Most of the artisans are from all over the West Coast, with one thrown in from Texas. I live on the West Coast and am a huge proponent of individuals starting their dream business, so I love seeing them supported and represented in the sub box world.
Ticket Chocolate Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate - $9.00
I've always thought these individual serving hot chocolate spoons were a great idea. I think these would be fun to put out on a hot chocolate bar for a party - if you have a variety, everyone would be able to make their dream hot chocolate! I stirred one of these into my morning coffee and am sipping it as I write this review - it is delicious It's not overly sweet, the pumpkin spice flavor comes through just the right amount to balance with the chocolate, and it dissolved quickly and fully. I think this was a great addition to a January box, especially when so much of the country is buried under a snow storm - hot chocolate is the perfect way to chase away the January blues.
Scrumptious Brownies - Pumpkin Brownies - $5.00
Since I'm drinking my pumpkin spice hot chocolate, I had to eat my brownies with it. There is no better, more nutritious breakfast than brownies and hot chocolate, right? Who is with me?! These brownies are gluten free and delicious. They're quite moist, soft, chewy, and the pumpkin flavor sneaks up on you. My first bite was "Hm, this is good" but my last bite had me wondering why there weren't more in the bag!
Madyson's Marshmallows - Snowflake Marshmallow Melt - $0.56
These are so fun and the perfect addition to a box with hot chocolate in it! as they melt, the design of the marshmallow stays (somewhat) on the top of your drink, and you get the creamy-marshmallow flavor throughout your sips. If you really like marshmallows, you should poke around Madyson's site - they even have marshmallow donuts!
Our Pretty Lil' Things - Pumpkin Cozy - $9.00
A company with the tagline "We make pants for your drink" immediately wins points in my mind. This is a very nicely crocheted drink cozy that fits one of my favorite mugs perfectly! This neatly solves the problem of handleless mugs that get too hot to drink. I love the pumpkin design on the front, and I received the tan color. What a fun way to keep pumpkin season with you all year round.
Violet Serpentine Pumpkin Spice Organic Lip Balm - $6.00
This lip balm is made from various oils, beeswax, tangerine mica, ground herbs, and essential oils. It is very smooth to apply and smells great! Lip balms in tins are never my first choice, but this one is very nice, and I have no doubts that it will get used!
Verdict: I really enjoyed my first shipment of The Pumpkin Batch! First of all, I love the clever name, secondly I love pumpkin, and thirdly, this was a nicely curated box. The value of the box comes up to about $29.56 - the values on the information card are slightly higher than what I came up with, so they may include shipping - adding those up, I come up with $31. Either way, the value of the box is right at what you would pay for it monthly, which is great for an independently owned subscription box.
