Treats ships their boxes wrapped in kraft paper which is fun to open! They have a new box this month, and I love it. Inside, the snacks are wrapped with tissue paper with a sticker holding it closed, a post card from the location the treats are from, and an information card about the snacks. It amazes me every month how much they pack into this box!
This month, the snacks are from Philippines. Opening this box, I almost had deja vu from my MunchPak this month, because two of the snacks are the same!
Mango Pineapple Balls by Philippine Brand - $3.59
I think I heard angels sing when I put one of these in my mouth. They are seriously, seriously good. It is almost like eating pineapple upside down cake in candy form. I will hunt these down to the ends of the earth (or just go to our local Filipino market) to have more of them. THANK YOU Treats for introducing me to my new favorite fruity candy!
Dried Mangoes by Philippine Brand - $2.46
I have always loved dried mangoes, so I was so excited to get these in my box. I eat this stuff like it is candy - it's delicious. I am going to have to hide it from my husband.
Hany Chocnut by Annie's - $5.80
Ok, these are delicious also, but the texture is much different than I expected. It's a little crumbly, but it doesn't take away from the fact that they taste like mini Reese's cups. I can't help but think that these would be awesome crumbled up in chocolate chip cookies. Another thing I noticed is that the ingredient list is really short for most processed foods: peanuts, sugar, powdered milk, cocoa powder, and vanilla flavor. That's pretty good!
XO Coffee Candy by Jack 'n Jill - $6.99
I just recently started college again, and so with that plus everything else in my life, I've been exhausted. I ripped into my Treats box the second I got home to see what was in it, and my eyes fell on...coffee candy! I tore open the bag and grabbed one before I set about taking my pictures. These are really good coffee candies. I've tried many over the years, and these are some of the best! Obviously, if you hate coffee, these are not for you - the flavor is very strong!
Regent Snack Golden Sweet Corn - $2.00
These are delicious, and they taste exactly like creamed corn in chip form. If you like any sort of sweet corn flavor - you need to buy these.
Boy Bawang Garlic - $2.00
They're probably most similar in texture to Corn Nuts, but SO much better - I can actually bite these without worrying about my teeth breaking in half. They have a Hot Garlic flavor that I would love to try next - I think I see a trip to my local Filipino market in my future!
Jack 'n Jill Chippy - $1.00
These are essentially BBQ flavored Fritos. They're very good, but the BBQ flavor doesn't come through as much as I would like.
Cracker Nuts by Nagaraya - $3.40
I tried a handful of these and initially thought "meh...not my thing." Then I kept wanting more - turns out I love these. The inside is a peanut, and it is covered in a crispy, cracker like outside. They are definitely spicy, but the spice level isn't unbearable. I'm betting if you ate the whole bag at once it would be though!
Verdict: I always love my Treats boxes, and this one is no different. In fact, I might love this one the most because the mango pineapple candy is out of this world! The value of this Treats shipment is a little lower than the cost of the box at $27.24. I don't make it to many of the various supermarkets in my area that cater to different nationalities, so I don't get a lot of exposure to new snacks outside of my usual comfort zone. Treats has introduced me to some amazing new snack foods that I wouldn't have tried before. I really enjoyed this month of Treats, and I can't wait to see what country they choose for February!
What do you think about Treats? Have you tried any of these snacks?
