Horror Block Subscription Box Review + Coupon January 2016 - shirt

Obey Shirt - Value $10?

This month exclusive shirt is in celebration of John Carpenter's birthday month! This is a call out to one of his best films, in my opinion, They Live! Love the shirt this month!

Horror Block Subscription Box Review + Coupon January 2016 - babydoll and keychain

Cleaver Keyring - Value $5-10?

The second exclusive this month is another in the of Nerd Block keyrings, this one is a cleaver.

Creepy Babydoll Head - Value $10-15?

This definitely creeped me and Liz out when we opened the box! Babydolls are just frightening. Period. The clown doll from Poltergeist had me scared for years as a kid!

Gravestone Phone Holder - Value $10-15?

The last exclusive item in this month's box is a cradle for your cell phone. This is a cool, and unique, exclusive!

Here's a look at the design. Any kind of cell phone will fit on this cradle, and there's a hole for your charging cable to be brought through.

Here's my iPhone 6+ in the cradle for reference.

Carrie Film Cell Bookmark - Value $10?

There is a Carrie bundle that includes on of these, but I can't find it for sale by itself. I'm liking these bookmarks, We received a Harry Potter version of this bookmark in this month's Nerd Block. I like this one just as much!

I was able to get a decent picture of the actual cell! I'm so happy it's the original movie and not the remake!

Horror Block Subscription Box Review + Coupon January 2016 - rue morgue

Rue Morgue #6:  Blood in Four Colors - Value $14.95

Instead of the month magazine, we get Rue Morgues look at horror comics! This is right up my alley, and is much better than the normal magazine for me, personally.

Scream: Digital Edition - Value $8.99

The card also lists a URL to download a free copy, no card required, of Scream magazine - which is a nice bonus if you're missing this month's Rue Morgue.

Verdict: This month's Horror Block finishes off a very strong month for all the Blocks, in my opinion! I thought the exclusives were unique and fun. And that shirt is just incredible! I hope this trend continues into February! After seeing the Carrie bookmark, all I could think of was, why has there not been a Stephen King-based box!? That'd make a fanboy like me so happy!

I would love anything to do with The Stand. It’s in my “books I’d want on a desert island” list. 🙂

On a slightly different topic…I’ve yet to receive my Horror Block for January and it’s 2/6. The tracking says it’s due today or Monday. It left on 1/18. Am I the only one who gets it so late?

There appears to be some kind of transfer between UPS and USPS which causes a considerable delay.

Not much of a surprise left when there are reviews everywhere and I’ve yet to get my box. 🙁

This was a great box, specially from the perspective of a now 11-yo girl. The doll head is super cool.

As usual, the only thing we didn’t like is the Rue Morgue book. Hopefully someone will want to swap for it.

Completely agree, a Stephen King box would be the best!!

I would sub in a heartbeat for that box. Horror is my favorite genre, but this box always feels too cutesy or has too much pop horror for my taste.

A King box would be exactly what I’m looking for!

The possibilities are so vast! What would you want to see in it? For me, it’d have to have something from IT, The Stand, and The Dark Tower. Fingers crossed – next month is the release of 11/22/63 on Hulu…

There’s so many, my top three are: The Talisman, The Stand, and Needful Things. Also, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption (story and movie) I am a little biased on that, the prison is about 15 minutes from my house 🙂 I’m looking forward to 11/22/63 also, but I need to finish the book first!

Although I would love to see a King box featuring Pennywise, I would actually prefer some vampy S/Os from The Night Flier and Salem’s Lot. Or both lol.
