Previously, on Geek Box Showdown: Loot Crate had a clean sweep with its box and Han Solo POP!
Just a note before starting - Since geek boxes are including more and more exclusive items, it's becoming harder to get a real value, so I figured I'd give a fair estimate of those items. Also, if the review has a value range - I took the high-end of the range.
Nerd Block Classic - Read the Full Review
The Cost: $19.99 plus shipping (Shipping is $8.75 to Canada, $9.50 to US, $12.50 Worldwide)
Number of items: 6
Value of items: $57
Exclusive Items: Your Neverending Story Notebook, Deathly Hallows Shirt
Synopsis: This month's theme was Fantasy, and it was a great month! I really liked all the items this month, but the Khal Drogo figure takes the cake! Not only is it a cool figure, but it kind of re-ignited my love for these newer, highly articulating, figures. Naturally, I bought some Greg Capullo Batman figures. Because, why don't I have these already?
Loot Crate - Read the Full Review
The Cost: $13.37 plus $6 shipping a month
Number of items: 6 (not counting the monthly pin)
Value of items: $75
Exclusive Items: All items were exclusive!
Synopsis: This month's theme was Invasion. Liz and I love getting matching t-shirts in Loot Pets, so I think that will be bonus points ever month they do it. Besides that, I loved the Space Invaders figure and Facehugger plush!
Geek Fuel - Read the Full Review
The Cost: $23.90 a month
Number of items: 6 (7 including the bonus shirt)
Value of items: $65
Exclusive Items: All exclusives (besides the game)
Synopsis: This month was a double shirt month - which I can't be too excited about. I thought it was a decent month for Geek Fuel. I like the shirt, but it was actually a repeat shirt, which diminished my excitement. After that, I like the mug and Mario tin.
Powered Geek Box: Premium Box - Read the Full Review
The Cost: $19.95 + $6.95 shipping a month for the Deluxe Box, $29.95 + $9.95 shipping for the Premium Box
Number of items: 6 + assorted candy
Value of items: $48
Exclusive Items: None
Synopsis: This month returned to normal, value-wise. I always love getting POPs, and Pocket POPs. Needless to say, The Daredevil Pocket POP was my easy favorite here.
1UP Box - Read the Full Review
The Cost: $18.92
Number of items: 6
Value of items: $34
Exclusive Items: Pugs shirt, Lightsaber, Can cooler, Zelda patch, Valentine's card
Synopsis: This month's theme was Legend. It wasn't my favorite month, and my favorite item, the Deadpool Dorbz, was an item I had previously received.
Super Geek Box - Read the Full Review
The Cost: $13.92 plus shipping ($6 shipping to the US)
Number of items: 6
Value of items: $43
Exclusive Items: Street Fighter shirt, keychain, and poster
Synopsis: This month's theme was Versus. If you hadn't already guessed, my favorite item is the Cap Dorbz! I also really enjoyed the little Batman figure! The keychain was a fun item as well - but the Funko item, as always, takes the cake!
Verdict:
Favorite Box: For January, my favorite was Nerd Block! I really liked the Harry Potter items, including the shirt, and the Khal Drogo figure was a really pleasant surprise!
Favorite Item: My overall favorite item came from Nerd Block, too. The Khal Drogo figure was a unique item to include, and revived some of my old interests!
January wasn't the strongest month for the Geek Boxes, but Deadpool might have a thing to say about the February boxes - so now it's time to have your say!
