Perfect Coverage Concealer Double End Brush – value: $22?
This brush is a dual-ended version of their Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush and Precision Concealer Brush. I’m really happy to have both of these in one! Versatility is awesome.
Crease Defining Brush – value: $18?
This is one item I’m most excited about in this box. I have a crease brush like this I’ve had for more years than I care to say because I love it and can’t find any just like it. But the tip/dome of this brush looks like it’s almost identical and I’m so excited to toss the old one!
Wet/Dry Shadow Brush – value: $18?
I really don’t wear my shadows wet, ever, but the way this brush is designed is great for full/heavier coverage of pigment for eyeshadows, so you can use it that way for dry shadow too.
Mineral Veil – .75 g (sample), value: $1.85?
I love their mineral veil. It’s a translucent powder you gently brush over your whole face after you’ve finished your primer+foundation+concealer+blush, etc. It helps set everything so your makeup wears longer and it helps give more of a matte finish.
Large Soft Focus Warmth Face Color – 2.8g, value: $42?
This is marketed as an “all over face color” (meaning you can use it as a blush, bronzer, or eyeliner) but for my skin tone, this really works best as a bronzer. Its name fits though: it’s definitely a very warm-toned shade. A little goes a looong way here, so apply with a very light hand. Put on less than you think you need; you can always add more.
Mini Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Rule Breaker – 3.5 ml, value: $13.20
This lip gloss is the same size and shape as the Bare Minerals FAB Friends and Benefits (their rewards card program) birthday present last year. It didn’t come in a box, but the birthday ones do (ones that say “happy birthday”) so I think they may have unboxed them and that’s where these came from. Regardless, it’s a good gloss. A little sticky, and I wouldn’t have picked up this color for myself, but they did send a neutral shade that will work for pretty much anyone.
Mini Marvelous Moxie Lip Stick in Raise the Bar – 1.5g, value: $7.50
This lipstick is really pretty. It’s a gorgeous color! I’m not really into metallic/shiny lipsticks right now, but it’s still very flattering.
Big & Bright Eyeliner in Espresso – value: $14
Big & Bright Eyeliner in Midnight – value: $14
These eyeliners are also getting replaced with a different formula, but they’re still great eyeliners. They have a very good wear time and are retractable! One end is the liner and the other end has a bit you can pop off and reveal a smudger, which I really love having on my liners. Both of these shades are great! The blue really isn’t super bright, so it’s really easy to wear.
Prime Time Neutralizing Primer – 1 oz, value: $24
This primer is apparently being discontinued, but it’s one I’ve had before and really like. It’s tinted yellow and helps neutralize any redness on your face.
Ready Blush in Natural High – 2g (sample), value: $7.60
This blush is probably Bare Minerals’ best! This is just a sample size, but it’s a great formula. For those of you familiar with the cult-famous NARS Orgasm blush, this is a really good, less expensive alternative. It’s a pretty pink with some gold dewiness to it. It’s also very buildable.
It may look a little scary at first, but it really does blend out well and doesn’t leave your face looking funny. Just make sure to start with a little bit! You can always add more if you need it.
Skincare Sampler for Normal/Combination Skin
This sampler contains foil packets of the Clay Chameleon Transforming Purifying Cleanser, Skin Longevity Vital Power Infusion, and Smart Combination Smoothing Lightweight Emulsion. I’m very familiar with their skincare line from working at Sephora, but these are all new to me! So I’m excited to try them!
Small Outlet Kit Bag in Light Pink – value: $5?
This bag is cute, but really small. It’s too small for even the brushes to fit into length-wise.
Swatches, from Top to Bottom: Lip Gloss, Lip Stick, Warmth Face Color, Natural High Blush, Midnight Eyeliner, and Espresso Eyeliner.
Here’s a look I did using the blush, Warmth Face Color (in the depths of my cheeks right under my cheek bones, blended onto my temples/a bit around my hairline, and whatever was leftover on my brush for the sides of the bridge of my nose), mineral veil, Espresso Eyeliner, and Rule Breaker lip gloss.
And here’s a look I did using the mineral veil, blush, Midnight eyeliner, and Raise the Bar lipstick.
The Verdict: This Bare Minerals Mystery Box has an estimated value at about $172, maybe even just a bit higher. I’m really happy with the value, sizes, and products. Even the things that are sample sized have a lot of uses to get out of them. I love this brand and trust that it has good quality products. Even though many of these items are being cycled out/discontinued, I don’t doubt that they’re still in perfectly find condition to use.
