BarkBox is a monthly subscription box for dogs. It’s one of our favorite subscription boxes – our dog loves it, and we’ve gifted it to dogs in our extended family as well!

BarkBox customizes your box to your dog’s size. For reference, this review is for the small size (our dog weighs 14 pounds). Check out Ragan's review of this month's box for large dogs!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

This month's theme is Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

Buckles helped us out with this review - he patiently waited...

BarkBox Subscription Box Review & Coupon April 2016 - sniffing through

As long as any dog could with treats in front of him!

BarkBox Subscription Box Review & Coupon April 2016 - tyos

The Fire Baller - Value $10

This was Buckles' toy of choice this month. It's a soft ball with a soft plastic core. It squeaks too!

BarkBox Subscription Box Review & Coupon April 2016 - buckles with ball

He was a big fan of this toy. I think he tends to lean towards the smaller stuff, he still plays with the little dumplings from earlier this year.

Yogi Barka Mitt - Value $12

This is a mini leather baseball mitt! It has a squeaker inside as well. Ragan got a stuffing free version of this for Nyx, but ours had stuffing.

BarkBox Subscription Box Review & Coupon April 2016 - baseball glove toy

Not so interested in this one. He gave one little tug for the camera.

But, the winner was obvious!

BarkBox Subscription Box Review & Coupon April 2016 - treats are chew

Pretzel Chew - Value $3

Next up is an all beef jerky pretzel chew. We haven't given this one to him yet, be since he always requires me to share beef jerky, I can safely say this will be a hit.

Barklyn Doggers Treats - Value $6

These are the preferred treats this month for Buckles. They are peanut-shaped grain-free, with peanut butter taste. They're really soft too - which is a big win for our dog.

He required a second helping since he was doing all the work for this review. How could I argue?

Simply Wild Free-Range Wild Boar - Value $6

These are 100% wild boar meat. They come in freeze-dried little pieces.

BarkBox Subscription Box Review & Coupon April 2016 - buckles treat 2

He was definitely interested in the treats.

He kept his eye on the prize the whole time!

BarkBox Subscription Box Review & Coupon April 2016 - baseball card template

They also sent out a little baseball card for you to photograph your dog in!

BarkBox Subscription Box Review & Coupon April 2016 - baseball card

How could I not! He's in it for the treats ladies and gentlemen.

BarkBox Subscription Box Review & Coupon April 2016 - buckles tongue

He was licking his lips after the treats - but he always came back to his baseball!

Verdict: This was a great BarkBox for us! The value was definitely there, coming in around $37, and everything in the box was perfect for Buckles - so it was a big win this month. Not only that, he has a new go-to toy - I can't ask for much more!

I want a Buckles.

We got a ball cap toy and a foam finger toy(which was promptly destroyed). I had to take the finger away from her so she wouldn’t choke on it, or get a blockage. She loved the treats, but she usually does. Once again they sent a Butchers Block tube thing. My dog hates them. I have let them know, twice now. I have received 3 and I just keep donating them to our local shelter.

They let me choose something else out of the “shop the box”. So I am a happy camper, Annabelle will be happy when she gets her new toy, and the dog that got her donated trachea chew will be happy.

I almost missed it… But on one of the treat packages there was a link for a free gift for Barkbox subscribers… A dog tag. You just have to pay S&H of $1.99. I use tags for all sorts of things, so that was a pleasant surprise

Seems like a good company. I tried to cancel because I’m low on funds and The Notorious D.O.G. just wasn’t digging the toys or snacks. They offered me $10 off per month for 6 months so I’m sticking around a little longer.

Buckles is ADORABLE! He looks like he is having a blast. I pretty much died when I got to the baseball hat cutout picture. He reminds me a little of the grey schnoodle we adopted when I was a kid. <3

We got what has to be my favorite (and the dog’s favorite) toy this month: a plush peanut “shell” with removable plush peanuts! Buddy loves toys within toys and spends hours stuffing and un stuffing them so this was perfect. We also got a stuffed baseball cap that he likes but so far hasn’t spent much time playing with due to his obsession with nuts (the toy, not his since they’re long gone ?).

I can verify that we got a stuffing-free glove since Nyx put a big hole in it last night…

It is nice to see that someone was able to use the baseball card cutout. It sort of fit on Nyx’s snout…

Love the pictures!

Positively swooning over Buckles! He is so photogenic! I hope we get that baseball card for my dog’s face. Oh, Buckles, you are just adorable! How super cute would it be if Buckles “wrote” the review from his point of view?!?! I am chuckling at the thought! Thanks for the review 🙂

We’ll do that for the next one – it was a hit for April Fools 🙂

Ahh! Missed it! If we ever have a sub box convention (forum pipe dream), we must have a Buckles meet and greet!

Alissa

We got nearly the same box for our 50-pound heavy-chewing Pit. I’m wondering if I need to check in with BB to see if we’re actually getting the heavy chewer sub we thought we were.

(p.s. Buckles in the baseball card is ADORABLE!)

I have 65lb & 85lb “heavy chewer” labs & received the baseball mitt (it’s larger than the one for buckles & is also stuffing free, like Reagan’s – squeaker is dead, but the mitt is still intact), a large baseball bat seems sturdy, although they haven’t gotten that toy yet & finally a pull-apart hamburger. For the most part the toys seem fairly sturdy – especially if I cut off the tags so they don’t rip the seams apart.

I’m also very happy with their customer service! At my renewal date they added the extra toy promo. I called to ask about it around x-mas, said I had been a long time subscriber, asked about the promo they didn’t hesitate to offer it to me. Even asked if I wanted the extra toy immediately or wait until my subscription renewal date. I chose the latter as it meant more toys for my boys & sure enough, the extra toy was in my box this month with no additional charge other than my normal renewal fee! 😀
