We should be back from tomorrow onwards.

Please be assured that you will receive the parcel.
We will understand if you might not be happy due to the delay.
But I am reassuring you that you will receive your parcel.
If there is anything that you would like to ask, please feel free to contact us.
We are still trading and we will deliver. We just had major logistic / customs issues in the
past.
warm regards
Stavros

The site is back up, and I recommend taking whatever steps you feel most comfortable with regarding this subscription.

Unfortunately, it looks like Ellada Lane has shut down. Their website is no longer available, and emails sent to Stavros return as Delivery Status Notification (Failure).

There's a chance that the site is down and will come back up and email will work again too, but since the second box was supposed to arrive months ago, I'm proceeding with caution.

If you have signed up for Ellada Lane, I recommend filing a refund request through PayPal.

Update on my PayPal claim: Stavros had until yesterday to respond and never did, so I just got a full refund! Putting that money aside for June’s Avenue A. 🙂

.

Whatever you do, do not close your paypal dispute based on this new info. You will not be able to open a 2nd one.

Thank you for the post, Liz! I just discovered this today, I thought I’d check their website as they haven’t responded to my Facebook post, and the website was down, so I also emailed Stavros and it came back undelivered. UGH. Luckily I paid through PayPal and have opened a case with them. I’m bummed that I’ll never get my parcel (1.1 looked so amazing), but at least I’ll have my $150 and peace of mind.

Just received this email from [email protected]. Looks like they are trying to do damage control.

How funny they couldn’t tell people the site would be down, or they were switching servers. And you can still email them; but they won’t respond to anyone… I sure hope that everyone is able to get a refund who bought this box. Very shady business practices.

Mandy

Yeah, I have received two emails from Stavros within the last hour. I filed a dispute with PayPal last week.

Thanks for letting me know. I added this to the post. Happy to see the site is back up, but still concerned about this subscription since the 2nd parcel – which hasn’t shipped yet – was supposed to ship in 2015.

From their Facebook page: Vol 2. ‘Hidden Treasures of Athens’ is in preparation and shipment is scheduled in December, right in time to be under the Christmas Tree. We are handson in Athens and will reveal one of the partners shortly.

I loved the review of this box and wanted to get it but Greece has such a reputation for fraud that I felt it was almost as scetchy as buying a subscription to a Nigerian box. Now I’m very glad that I hesitated. Hope everyone gets their PayPal refund soon. This is a very good reminder to me to use this service instead of paying directly with my credit card.

I actually started the claim process a couple weeks ago. Yesterday was the day Stavros had to reply by. I am hoping that means since he did not respond to them that they will rule in my favor. Really would like my $600+ dollars back. I will think long and hard before subscribing to new boxes again.

PayPal is awesome. Since Stabros never responded to them, I just got an email that they ruled in my favor and are refunding the $639 back to me. Yay, mo way I can now use for my upcoming vacation.

Anyone else have this issue?

FYI for everyone who already filed a dispute in the past with them. I filed a dispute back in December for not receiving the first box, after receiving the first package I closed the dispute. I was in contact on and off with Stavros for the last few months over the second package, last week he asked me to wait a few more days for the second box. I never heard from him again and then saw this post so I immediately contacted paypal. At first they said there was nothing I could do because I closed the case back in Dec. I argued that I still did not receive 5 more items and that the site was down and emails were getting delivery failure messages. They eventually said they will “make an exception” and escalate the case. Now Ellada lane has 10 days to issue me a refund or provide a solution to this problem or paypal is going to close the case in my favor. Let this be a learning lesson to me and everyone else, Paypal protection is voided once you close a case! DO NOT close a case prematurely for a sub service until you have received ALL your boxes.

I filed a dispute and got my money back. At the last minute, the proprietor put in a UPS tracking number that was created two months ago and voided the same day. I called PayPal and alerted them to this fact and they ruled in my favor immediately. I hope everyone else is able to get their money back.

Liz, I appreciate your post today, and your guidance in dealing with one of the disappointments in subscribing to a new subsciption box venture. I am starting the paypal dispute resolution process, and will be watching for updates from other posters.

So sorry about this whole situation. Hopefully, PayPal handles this well. I’m assuming they will since the Ellada Lane site isn’t even live anymore.

I never received a box, and I just received the refund via paypal. Paypal is the best!!!!

I watch and wait on sub boxes… I think the youngest sub box I have is Luxor…. I know that starting a sub box can be difficult, but I became cautious about all boxes after I saw the curator for one of the boxes on the list of beauty boxes swapping for new only items on eDivv. ….. And she was FFFAAARRR from friendly!!!!
Overly rude about the swap!
I can’t say that she uses it in the box… just sketchy!

I get it and there was a woman on MSA’s swaps doing the same thing. I wonder if it was the same person?

Reply ButtonReply

Katie

It is, I found her on there doing the same thing by searching for one item from her box 🙂

.

sorry, I’m totally lost on this one. can you explain? this was a guy, in greece. no beauty really.

I think the subscription box business is much harder than it seems.

It looks fun putting together a box – but making one that appeals to customers, have it be a good value, and still make it profitable after packaging, shipping and advertising expenses, seems impossible. I’m amazed that any of these boxes survive at all.

I think someone might have great plans for the first few months (or just the first month). And then it gets harder to keep up. Because you have to satisfy the customers with every package. Anything like this where you have to find suppliers willing to work with you — different ones every month — is probably especially challenging.

Sadly I subscribed to this box and retroactively purchased the Box 1 for extra money. I did not get a single box. I have filed a Paypal dispute. I am going to think twice before signing up with international subscription boxes going forward.

Sadly this has been happening a lot!! Makes me very cautious!

Kristin

Wow, that stinks! I was seriously considering it so I’m really happy I decided not to subscribe to this one. I hope everyone gets their money back!

While I did not order this box, I’ve been to both Santorini and Athens, and every thing I purchased while on this trip either broke after a few months or turned out to be fake… fake silk, fake gold…etc. I will say you all dodged a bullet, because judging by the first box…this box was WAY OVERVALUED. I hope the PayPal refund process works out for everyone!

Seems a bit shady to shut down and not inform customers…

Sara

Right! Especially since many subscribers have been trying to contact him for months with no responses.
