Good to Know: Gift subscriptions are on sale all month for Haven Paperie’s 2nd Anniversary next month and for Mother’s Day gifts. Sale ends April 29th.
Each month the owner, Heidi, writes a letter to subscribers about what inspired her for the month and provides tips on how to use the included cards. This year she plans to include a specific reason to write. This month: #4 “To acknowledge a hardship someone is going through”. I absolutely love her intended concept. She says it's not about the words we say, but about letting them know we’re there.
I have four stamps this month. I’ve learned since having this subscription that square cards cost more to ship, which is so strange to me. So, I’m assuming I have a square postcard since we have a special stamp this month?! I don’t know. Let’s see what we have!!
Wish You Were Here - Post Card - $3.00
Currently unavailable on the shop page, I love the olive trim at the bottom. It says just enough and the back is blank to attach some decorative stickers and a short note.
Floral - Flat Card - $4.00
This card is also unavailable for purchase. It’s blank on the back and there’s enough space to be creative. It’s cardstock is super thick and I think it’s safe to say you could even paint on it. Go crazy.
So Glad You Were Born - Greeting Card - $4.50
This one is also not available online. I really don’t mind that the cards are unique to the subscription. It’s blank and pastel green inside. My only gripe is this is a birthday card, and doesn’t really match with the theme this month. I don’t think of birthdays as sad times...well, maybe in a few more years I may think otherwise. LOL!
I’m Sorry Things Have Been Hard Lately - Greeting Card - $4.50
Again, this one is not available for purchase in the Haven Paperie Etsy store. I love the colors and that it flips upwards instead of to the side. It’s blank and leaves plenty of space for everything else you would like to say to a friend in need.
Verdict: Including the stamps, this month had an estimated retail value of $18.00. It breaks even with the cost of the subscription, but this doesn’t include the value of unique items and convenience of having quality cards at hand. I’ve continued my subscription to Haven Paperie, despite the lack in value over cost for those reasons. It’s very nostalgic to me and reminds me to keep in touch with all my friends and family near and far, regardless if I receive a card back in return.
