Legion of Collectors Subscription Box Review May 2016 - pin and patch

Each box comes with a themed patch and pin. This month's patch and pin feature Supergirl and Atom.

Legion of Collectors Subscription Box Review May 2016 - shirt

Green Arrow Shirt - Value $10?

This month's shirt focuses on Oliver Queen. I'm not into a lot of the TV superhero shows, but this was one that I liked for 2 seasons and eventually interest trailed off. That being said, I still really like this shirt a lot - and Arrow was kind of a defining moment for the DC TV Universe - so they had to include Oliver!

Legion of Collectors Subscription Box Review May 2016 - POP

Jay Garrick POP - Value About $39 via POP Price Guide

They include a Jay Garrick POP this month. He's showed up in season 2 of The Flash - and is widely know as the original Flash from the comics in 1940! Great idea to include this exclusive POP this month.

Legion of Collectors Subscription Box Review May 2016 - supergirl

Supergirl Rock Candy Vinyl - Value About $10 via POP Price Guide

This is my first time receiving a Rock Candy vinyl from Funko. They remind me a bit of the QM vinyls we sometimes get in Loot Crate. This line is dedicated to female superheroes, and this month we get the TV version of Supergirl.

Legion of Collectors Subscription Box Review May 2016 - supergirl out of box

Here's a look out of the box. I love the details on these vinyl figures - very cool! I'm surprised they don't expand this line of vinyls, I think it could be really popular.

Legion of Collectors Subscription Box Review May 2016 - Flash comic

The Flash #123 - Value $1.99

The final item is The Flash #123 from 1961 - but with an exclusive variant cover. This issue is included because it's the issue where Barry Allen meets Jay Garrick. It's a smart issue to include based on the TV show and the POP this month - nicely done!

Verdict: This was a fun month of Legion of Collectors - but I knew the theme wasn't for me going into it. I'm not a big superhero tv fan, even though I did recently catch up with Gotham, so I knew the items might be a miss for me solely based on my interests. I thought they were smart with their selections - and I love getting 2 vinyl figures - but I wish they had tossed in something from Gotham as well! With the CW expanding their DC lineup, I can easily see a dedicated box to Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow in the future.

The shirt was awesome. I would have preferred an actual Flash or Arrow to Jay.

I feel like this month was a solid MEH. I get the main pop, but at the same time. If you are going to do current DC TV, there were much better choices.

The POP Sugar is probobly the highlight, even if Supergirl is not my thing.

There were so many other options. I feel like the Marvel Boxes came out of the gates running, but the DC boxes outside of the Armored Batman have really come out limping. They don’t come anywhere near the level the Marvel Boxes set.

Is supergirl edible or is she vinyl?

I can see how you might think it since it’s called Rock Candy, but no – it’s a vinyl figure.
