Studio Calico is a crafting subscription company that offers an array of subscription services.  This weekend, they held their first ever warehouse sale.  The public event was held from April 28th - May 1st in Bowling Green, KY.  I was lucky enough to be extended an invitation to the Friends and Family only event on April 27th.  This review will only cover the event and my overall experience.  I hope that you enjoy.

Good to Know:  Studio Calico is home to other storefronts like, the TomKat Studio, A Beautiful Mess and Ali Edwards to name a few.  You’ll find many products and past subscription kits from all of their brands and more at this warehouse event.

Share a photo at the event on social media for an additional 50% off your purchase.  Yes, exactly what I said, AMAZING!

Below, you’ll see a ton of photos of the shop layout.  I’ll start by thanking my host Teressa for the warm welcome, tour and introducing me to staff member as they shopped.  The first photo is Studio Calico (SC) CEO, April Foster and the Events Coordinator, Teressa Shrewsbury.  Thank you! And a big thanks to all the friends and family that were kind enough to pose for me.

Every hour, Teressa would perform a live demonstration of the Heidi Swapp - MINC tool and foil.  I had never seen one in action before.

Stamps and Ink

I was just amazed with all the different inks available.  I haven’t dabbled much into it this medium just yet.  I can get pretty messy with just a normal ink pen and my left hand.

Paints!! I’ve been wanting to try out bible journaling.  I had my friend pick up a set and primer for me the next day after reviewing my photos and realizing this was the type of paint I would need.  Duh!

Scrapbooking Paper!! All kinds of crafting paper are throughout the shop and I even found a few vellum and foiled gems.  You really had to go through everything to find unique pieces.

Here’s a few pictures of some of the items I picked up for myself and also friends and family that could not attend.

Verdict:   I’m tremendously blessed to live nearby a warehouse event like this. I’m so glad that I went.  I hope that Studio Calico continues to have a warehouse sale annually, if not bi-annually.  I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to check out.  Your checkout assistant groups your cart items by their dollar amount and counts it out for the cashier.  Too easy!  If you made it out to the event, please tell us about your experience below.  April Foster said that she would greatly appreciate all the feedback to understand how they could make it better, if they have one again.  I would have loved to see a variety of live demonstrations.  I know it’s not really a crafting fair, but it would have been cool to see a few different things being used, like the letter press, a silhouette, that cool little fusing tool I say, or even just have an open bible for customers to try out bible journaling.  Though this review is not about the prices, I can tell you this.  I seriously could have bought the whole store, and I tried.  90% off was promised and delivered!  AWESOME!

Great news! If you were not able to attend this event, you can now pre-order a warehouse box - see details below:

Choose either a $50 or $100 box of one of the following categories: documenter/scrapbook, planner or stationery/card making. (the $50 documenter/scrapbook box looks to be sold out). This is a limited time offer and all sales are final.

I went on the VIP day, at 10 am when they opened. I agree that it was an amazing sale and well run overall. I got some incredible deals! My favorite finds were their Color Theory pigment inks, mini mists, scrapbook kits and past add-ons and I loved the grab bags!

I have a have a few pieces of feedback for April. They need more counting people or more registers checking out on the first (VIP) day, at least until 1-2 PM. I waited in line to pay for an hour. It was a little frustrating, but everyone was in a good mood and chatting, so it wasn’t awful, but still too long. Also there were quite a bit of $1 items left on the alphabet/sticker sheet table (the long tables paralleling & near the wall of albums) on the last day. If they had made these 5 for $1 or something they would have sold better. But people weren’t paying $1 for a mini alpha. So my feedback for the last day would be to see what’s left in large quantities after closing on Saturday night and reduce it or make it more enticing for people in some way. Or add this extra stock to the grab bag tables. I did appreciate the extra $5 of of $25 on Sunday, but I’d love a stacked coupon for bigger spenders. $10 off of $50, etc. Also, be sure there are photos for EVERY kit on the bins, especially those add-ons that were in brown bags sealed with stickers! People were passing by great stuff bc they didn’t know what was actually inside.

Overall, I thought the sale was incredible and I hope they do one again!

Goodness! I wish I had known about this sale as I was driving through that area on May 1st! Probably a good thing I didn’t though as I would of had to purchase a new suitcase to fly home with! I tend to over buy when I go to these type sales! Thanks for the great coverage!

I’m so jealous! That looks amazing. But it’s also cool to see a subscription box event outside of NY and LA.

Thanks so much for all the awesome pictures and review. I was able to order a doc/scrap warehouse box a few days ago. I really like their stuff and hopefully some of it will be good (in the warehouse box), based on the items in the pictures.

thanks GeAnna!! I went and I’m still tempted to get the $100 planner box. LOL I made really nice paper crafting bags for my friends with a lot of the stuff I picked up at the sale.

I was tempted to buy the warehouse box offer but the only planner box left is $100. That’s a lot to spend sight unseen with no guarantees. So, sadly, I had to go with the wise decision instead of the fun decision.

Tiffany, my screen shows there are two left. Maybe someone had it in their cart and passed.

You might still have a chance! 🙂

I would have LOVED to have gone to this. It looks amazing. Somehow I can never get enough stickers and cards. Sadly, I live no where near here. But it looks fun!

I feel the same way Jordan. I can never have enough stickers, washi tape and cards. Like, where did they go!?

I can’t get enough either, but then, like a crazy person, I just KEEP IT ALL FOREVER. Stationery is for hoarding, in my house anyway.
