Loot Crate recently began offering a separate subscription from their monthly boxes called Level Up. The items sent in their Level UP subscriptions are not repetitive products from their monthly boxes but do tie into the same monthly themes. There are 5 different subscription plans, each offer a different curation of products: Level Up Wearable, Level Up Socks, Level Up Shirt, Level Up Accessories, and Level Up Bundle (Level Up Bundle is a combination of the Wearable and the Socks subscriptions).
This is a review of four different LVL UP subs – the Wearable, Shirt, Socks, and Accessories subscriptions.

Each bundle comes with an info booklet describing and showing all the items for that month’s collections. This month’s theme is “Dystopia.” Fun fact: the opening of the description paragraph in their booklet is a take on the beginning of Fallout 4 which starts, “War. War never changes.” (The booklet here says “Fashion. Fashion always changes.”)
The info booklet has changed a little recently – now it’s one, big, foldable piece of paper instead of an actual booklet.
And it unfolds into a giant poster featuring the items that month. To be honest, I don’t know how much value this has as a poster.
LEVEL UP SOCKS
Exclusive Star Trek Enterprise Socks – value: $8?
I love Star Trek so these are awesome for me! I’m glad to see some Trek represented!
Exclusive Fallout 4 Gas Mask Socks – value: $10?
These are called “gas mask” socks but I think this looks like the Fallout 4 Power Armor. These are very thick and have some extra arch support, so they feel great.
LEVEL UP FOR HER
Exclusive Firefly Kaylee Hanging Travel Case – value: $9?
I love this! This case is made to look like the style of Kaylee’s jumpsuit, including the little patches she has sewn on. So cute!
Exclusive Attack on Titan Adjustable Choker Necklace – value: $12?
This necklace features the Scout Regimen insignia: the Wings of Freedom. I know Attack on Titan is an anime that a lot of people watched and loved – I haven’t actually seen it since I heard it’s pretty gore-y, which I’m really sensitive to.
Here’s the inside of the hanging travel case. I like it a lot! It has lots of pockets and almost all of them zip up, which is nice.
LOOT TEES
Exclusive District 9 Multi-National United T-Shirt – value: $15?
This shirt is comfortable and flattering, and the design is pretty cool. I wouldn’t say I’m a huge fan of District 9 so this isn’t a shirt I’m particularly thrilled with but it’s comfortable and good quality!
LOOT WEARABLES
Exclusive Ghostbusters Baseball Jersey
This is an interesting shirt. It’s not Luke’s (or my) style but I love Ghostbusters. I think my brother-in-law would love this, though, so this will be gifted! The material feels like a nice, thick knit and the buttons actually button (may sound odd to specify but I know I’ve come across some shirts where the buttons like this are just decorative). The fit is great, too.
Verdict: If you’re looking for a guarantee that you’ll get geeky wearables each month, Level Up is the way to go. You can bundle everything, or do as little as one Level Up – so it does make this subscription really flexible. On top of that, they release which franchise will be featured for each item while you can still buy – it’s very helpful to avoid anything you might not want, which is something I really appreciate in pop-culture/geek-culture themed boxes. Also, everything is exclusive in Level Up these days so the great value also includes the fact that no one else will have these that doesn’t subscribe!
