Included was an information card with a list of the items for the month. This month’s theme was “Spring into Style.” (Note: This is the May box. This subscriptions ships from the UK so it took a little longer to get to me.)
Cat Wallet – Value $19.60
I have no idea how to put a value on this. But I love it. And my wallet was starting to come apart. So this is useful AND timely!
Here’s a look inside. It’s a little hard to see here but there are plenty of slots for cards and things.
Silk Scarf with Cat Print – Value $11.60
This is really big, and I love it. (I keep saying that…) It is more of a fall/winter item for me (although it’s lightweight). This will get a lot of use, though, later in the year.
Handmade Cat Necklace – Value $14.50
This is really pretty and includes actual dried flowers inside (though I suspect those are dyed). I have a couple of dresses I could totally wear this with.
Here’s a little closer view of the necklace.
Quirky Library Chocolate Bar (100g) – Value $8.64
This is milk chocolate and, surprisingly it came to me in June in Georgia without being melted. The extra little cat label (it’s a wraparound) is a nice touch. Plus I am always up for getting new sweets from overseas.
Cat Fabric Buttons from The Heyday Shop – Value $8.71
These are adorable. I need to find some clothing items with four buttons and remove them right away so I can use these instead. Surely there is a cardigan or something in my closet that could use some kitties on it (I mean, in addition to the Monkey hairs).
Pet Munchies in Beef Liver (10g) – Value $2.50 (?)
This is a cat treat from the UK so the brand is new to me. Sneaky is a big beef fan so these were a hit.
Handmade Collar by Lovely Luna Crafts – Value $8.69
My cats don’t wear collars (they always seem to manage to remove them). But, this is super cute. And if I keep subscribing to cat boxes, I will eventually collect enough collars for each of my cats to have one. So I have something to attach all those loose rabies vaccination tags to, if nothing else…
Here is my attempt to show you a close-up of the cat charm on the collar. Sorry if it’s a little blurry, I really don’t have the right sort of camera for close-ups.
Colorful Fleece Blanket – Value $8 (?)
This is made in the UK by a disabled woman to help raise awareness for vasculitis (here’s the maker’s website but there’s not much information on it). My cats do like resting on blankets; somehow it is so much more interesting than the bare floor. I put the it in a sunny window and here are the results:
You may have noticed you haven’t seen Mr. Kitty yet. Well, he didn’t feel like coming downstairs during the day. But I know he is a fan of ribbons. So later at night, when he was more alert, we played with an item from the box. Unfortunately, only one picture came out. But it was a good one:
(I told you to watch for the ribbon! Mr. Kitty LOVES ribbons.)
Verdict: I calculated a value of a little over $82 for the May 2016 My Purrfect Gift Box. That is above the cost of the box plus shipping by a fair amount at the current exchange rate. Many of the items were exclusive to the box or not available in the US, so that adds value as well (think of what you would pay for shipping ordering from individual merchants!). Plus, you know, the ribbon makes a great cat toy. I liked and will use pretty much everything except maybe the collar, so I feel like this subscription is a pretty good deal if it fits in your budget.
What do you think of My Purrfect Gift Box? Do you subscribe to any cat boxes?
