Loot Crate Limited Edition Ghostbusters Crate Review - all items

ghostbusters-card

I loved the ghost trap information card! The back has all the details about the items inside.

Loot Crate Limited Edition Ghostbusters Crate Review - shirt

2016 Ghostbusters Unifrom Shirt - Value $15?

The first item in the box is the new-style Ghostbusters uniform t-shirt.

While I would have liked an original style shirt better, I have cautious excitement for the new movie (I love the cast) - so I'm excited to get the new style shirt.

Loot Crate Limited Edition Ghostbusters Crate Review - sleeve

It's got the logo on the sleeve as well!

Loot Crate Limited Edition Ghostbusters Crate Review - titan

Exclusive Slimer Titan - Value $15-20?

This is my favorite item in the box - an exclusive Slimer Titan vinyl figure. I'm not a big Titan fan - but their design style works well with Slimer!

Loot Crate Limited Edition Ghostbusters Crate Review - Slimer

Slimer glows in the dark and has articulation in the arms and wrists - easily my favorite Titan, ever. I can see him about to slime Venkman.

Loot Crate Limited Edition Ghostbusters Crate Review - proton pack

2016 Proton Pack Replica - Value $15-20?

The next item is a replica model of the new Proton Pack. The first thing I noticed was that the packaging was not ideal for collectors who keep boxes for value. Instead, it was in a plastic bag that you have no way of saving.

This left a lot to be desired for me. I didn't feel that the detail level on the item was high enough for a limited edition collectible. I was excited to get my hands on this, but it was disappointing for when I took a closer look at the details.

Loot Crate Limited Edition Ghostbusters Crate Review - mat

Ghostbusters Logo Rub - Value $20-30?

They included a Ghostbusters logo rug. I would consider this more of a bath mat than a rug or doormat - but maybe that's just me.

You can't go wrong with the Ghostbusters logo for me - it's classic. This mat is pretty small, too - it's got a 2-foot diameter.

Loot Crate Limited Edition Ghostbusters Crate Review - pin

Ghostbusters Pin - Value $10?

Liz taught me that pins are on-trend at the moment - so as far as pins go, you can't get much better for me.

I really like how they kept a lot of similar details to the classic Ecto-1 - it's such an iconic piece of the franchise that I think it's important to keep it similar.

Loot Crate Limited Edition Ghostbusters Crate Review - prints

Set of 2 Pre-Vis Art Prints - Value $15-20?

The final item is this set of prints. These are concept art pieces for the new movie. I like that it's something original, but prints are never exciting for me, especially in a higher-priced box.

The last fun piece of the box was the box itself! You can invert it and make a proton pack with the included arm straps:

You can get a sense of the logo mat here as well - it's not too big.

I had to break out the PKE Meter for pictures! Bustin' makes me feel good.

Verdict: This box was a bit of a letdown for me. I love the Ghostbusters, and while this wasn't a bad box, I thought, as a fan, that there was so much more potential for it! I do love the shirt, rug, and especially the Slimer Titan - but the other two items left a lot to be desired for me.

Are you excited for the movie? I have cautious optimism. That's the best way I can describe it. I'm a fan of the cast, and I've loved what they've done in the Ghostbusters comics of having different Ghostbusters teams in Chicago and New York - so I'm not totally tied to the original Ghostbuster as much anymore. Fingers crossed. No spoilers in the comments - it takes me forever to get to the movies! I still haven't seen X-Men!

On the packaging for the doormat, it says “for indoor use”. I think bathmat works. I looked at Ghostbuster doormats on Amazon and found nice ones for about $20.
Personally, I would increase value of titan figure to 20-30, because Titan figures are expensive, and lower the value on doormat to 15-20 based on quality and practicality.
I agree the detail on the proton pack could be better, nice from a distance. I do like that they included the release date as numbers on the proton pack.
What I thought was missing was a tribute to Harold Ramis. They could easily have made a print for it.

Well I saw the movie today because I was really looking forward to it and I too love the cast. Think the movie is like the box I mean how can you not be a wow when there is such much there. Well they managed it. It’s not awful but why wasn’t it better? Glad I passed on this box and wish I had waited for movie on blue ray. I saw the orginal in the theater as yes I am that old so I might be jaded.

Glad I passed up on this box now. I was all excited when I saw the teaser email and really wanted it but the price combined with shipping to the UK was a put off for me and looking at the spoils i’m glad I swerved it. The only thing I would have been excited for would have been the rug and…crazy as it sounds…the proton pack box!
Everything else was ‘meh’
Eric, did you go for the Halo crate? That was another I was tempted for but again, the price put me off!!

I love Ghostbusters, but I passed on this box. It just seemed like more “stuff” and I’m trying to lean towards more practical things. I do like the shirt and the rug, though! Maybe someone will eBay them eventually. I loved the comic run. I wish the main series hadn’t ended. I do hope they will keep putting out stand-alones once in a while, though. I’m glad the movie is getting good reviews! I was on the fence about seeing it in the theater. Now maybe we’ll make it a date night. I also wanted to say the last photo, where you are all geared up, is super adorable! You’d make a great Ghostbuster. 🙂

Eric

Thanks! Are you reading Ghostbusters International? I’m current, but it hasn’t gripped me like the main series did.

Not yet, but it’s on my wishlist. I read them on the kindle and the first volume of GI doesn’t come out until later this month. I did read the crossover with TMNT. That was amusing. I will take any Ghostbusters I can get. 🙂

Tamara

75% on Rotten Tomatoes! “Critic Consensus: Ghostbusters does an impressive job of standing on its own as a freewheeling, marvelously cast supernatural comedy — even if it can’t help but pale somewhat in comparison with the classic original.”

It’s been a weird journey with this movie. I may see it in theaters or I may wait for streaming.

That’s a decent start for opening rating. My friend, who is a major major Ghostbusters friend, said there were a lot of references throughout the movie to the originals – so that should be fun!

Nice review, glad I passed though.
