Scotty O’Hotty Beer-Bacon Chipotle Sauce – 5.3 oz, value: $7.49
The name of this brand makes me giggle. This sauce is also fantastic. It tastes great from the little sample I tried, but I can’t wait to make some grilled chicken with this.
Chazzano Coffee Roasters Fruit of the Bean Cascara Soda – value: $4.99?
I can’t find this for sale online, so I’m guessing the price. This soda is interesting – it’s made with the fruit of coffee plants, which is apparently a cherry. I keep forgetting to drink this in the morning and don’t want to try it at night since its caffeinated, so I have yet to try this. I’m curious, though. Their website says that it smells like prunes with a touch of cherry, and the taste is supposed to be a combination of “unsweetened prunes, slightly fruity tea, tobacco, and mild coffee.”
Dearborn Original Classic Hunters Sausage – 3 oz, value: $3
This sausage is made with beef and pork and tastes really good! They also have a hot version of this sausage. And fun fact: this brand makes great honey spiral hams.
Mrs. Dog’s Chipotle Salt – 4 oz, value: $4
This chipotle salt is a very versatile salt – they recommend it as a beef or chicken rub, in soups, on eggs, or basically anything you can put salt and pepper on! I love getting seasonings in subscription boxes.
Happy Girl Maple Chocolate Walnut Granola – 2 oz, value: $4.50
Happy Girl Cherry Almond Granola – 2 oz, value: $4.50
Oh. Em. Gee. This is possibly one of my favorite food discoveries from subscription boxes ever! I am definitely going to order more. Both of these granolas are fantastic and crunchy (not chewy at all) and pack a ton of flavor. Both are fantastic but my favorite is the maple chocolate almond. I am picky about my maple-flavored things (sometimes I think it can just seem weird to me in different food contexts!), and this is delicious. Initially I thought there could be more chocolate chips (life advice: there can always be more chocolate), but honestly once I tried it I didn’t think it needed them as much as I just wanted them! Haha. The cherry almond is great, too.
From their site, I’m also eyeing some other flavors… Lovely Lavender Chocolate Chip, Cinnamon Raisin, and Blueberry Almond.
Here’s a look at the ingredients labels, too.
Verdict: I loved this box! I love seeing my home state represented, and I really liked everything in this box. The value comes out to about $28.48, which isn’t awesome for a $35 box, though it seems like it’s about what I’ve come to expect from this box. I’d love to see more value from them, though I know a big part of this box is curation and finding small brands and products you wouldn’t normally find.
