This month is My Texas Market's 1 year Birthday, so the theme is How Sweet It Is: "My Texas Market is turning one! Celebrate with some of our favorite sweets and treats from these wonderful Texas Makers. Thank you for an amazing year!"
EcoBabe Cupcake Candle - $11.00
This candle smells delectable. It definitely has the sweet scent of vanilla cupcakes. This candle is all natural, clean burning and eco-friendly, made from soy beans grown here in the U.S. It seems to burn pretty evenly too! EcoBabe donates a portion of each sale made to local (Dallas) animal shelters.
Blue Heron Farm - Original Cajeta goat milk caramel - $10.00?
This cajeta from Blue Heron farm is delicious. I received an 8 oz. mason jar full of it - which means I am going to have cajeta lattes for days! It has just three ingredients: milk, cane sugar, and baking soda. If I don't use all of this up in my espresso, I'll use the rest of it to make my husbands favorite cake: yellow cake with dulce de leche/cajeta on top instead of frosting - if you've never tried this, you should! It's the easiest cake you'll ever make and it's really delicious.
EMZ Jamz - The Peach Boys peach jam - $2.25?
My Texas Market recommends eating this jam with ricotta or baked brie, on pork chops, baked salmon, with a pistachio and ricotta salad, or on top of vanilla ice cream. I tried it on a biscuit (ever the rebel), and I really enjoyed it. The peach flavor came through super nicely, and it was just sweet enough. It brought back memories of making peach jam for days on end during the summer when I was younger - I'm still a bit scarred from those days on my feet boiling mason jars.
Cornucopia Popcorn - Patriot Pop - $4.25
This popcorn has a mix of white sweet corn, red cherry, and blue raspberry flavors. I was first introduced to Cornucopia popcorn from My Texas Market, and I fell in love with their BBQ flavor. This flavor was really excellent, but nothing can beat the Smoky Sweet BBQ popcorn!
Bona Dea - Outrageous Oat Cookie Mix - $6.99
This oatmeal cookie recipe was really simple to make. I added in some chocolate chips and a sprinkle of sea salt, but didn't add in the optional honey or agave. This mix is easily adaptable to be vegan (just use coconut oil instead of butter), and is gluten, dairy, soy, nut, and egg free. I enjoyed the flavor of these cookies, but I did find them to be a bit dry. Next time I would add in the optional nut butter or honey to see if that made them a bit better.
Verdict: I always love My Texas Market boxes - they're excellently curated, with a nice variety of items to treat yourself throughout the month. This box was no different and has an approximate value of $34.49. This is right around the value that I've come to expect with My Texas Market - they promise that the value will be at least what you spent on the box and I've found that to be true every month.
