PLVSH Style Subscription Box Review – June 2016

PLVSH Style is a subscription styling service for plus-size women. They describe themselves as "Concierge Styling, Exclusively for Women Sizes 14+." I love this type of box! When I signed up, I had to fill out a pretty in-depth questionnaire regarding my size, style preferences, and lifestyle in order for them to select pieces that are just right for me. Selections for each subscriber will (and should) vary.

plvsh-jun-info

PLVSH sent this info sheet with details on each item and a brief explanation of why each piece was chosen for me. I really like knowing that everything was hand selected for me!

plvsh-jun-terms

On the reverse side are some important reminders of their terms and the process for returning the items I don't wish to keep. I wanted to mention that this month I needed a couple of extra days to try everything on and decide, and they were totally fine with that. Much appreciated!

plvsh-jun-dress

Michael Kors Flare Shift Dress - Cost to keep $82.50

What a beautiful dress! I'm actually kind of shocked; this is the first piece from Michael Kors that I really felt was flattering. This is definitely a keeper! I love the pattern and the cut, and the neckline is just open enough for me to make it work.

plvsh-jun-pants

Vince Camuto Print Stretch Wide Leg - Cost to keep $98

These pants are definitely cute, but I'm on printed pants overload at the moment, so I have to send these back.

plvsh-jun-lucky

Lucky Brand Embroidered Damask Print Top - Cost to keep $89.50

When I pulled this shirt from the box, I was instantly in love. It's a lightweight, natural cotton with really beautiful, unusual patterns and embroidery. I love the color too! Then I tried it on.

plvsh-jun-modeling

There's a rule I learned a while back: If you have big arms (and you're self-conscious about them), cap sleeves are off-limits. That's why I'm standing like this. The sleeves make my arms look enormous. Another great rule I learned is to take a picture of yourself in an item that's expensive before you buy it! I'm so glad I did! I still love this top, but not on me. Sadly, it had to go back.

plvsh-jun-nyjd

NYJD Shangri La Print Top - Cost to keep $108

I love this top, too, but I just can't even kind of deal with long sleeves right now. It's toooooo hot! The pattern on this top is amazing, but it has to go back.

plvsh-jun-camuto

Vince Camuto Printed Tie Blouse - Cost to keep $89

This blouse is another definite keeper! I love the pattern and the colors! It's sheer and lightweight, and the sleeves are long enough to neutralize my big arms. I love the detailing at the shoulders, too!

Verdict: This month's package was so awesome! I loved everything in it, honestly, and I feel like they finally really nailed my style! I didn't buy everything in it, but that's okay because they just sent really wonderful options. I think PLVSH is a really great service for women who are too busy to shop, or even just those who prefer to try on clothes from the comfort of their own home! Their pieces tend to be a bit pricey, but they always send pieces that are current and high quality. I'm a big fan of PLVSH!

I also am not happy with my arms but I just stopped caring what others thought of them because some of the cutest tips have cap sleeves. As long as the top fits and I like it, I am wearing it. You could totally rock that top!

I’m so glad to see you in the pictures! I’ve been size 2->>18 & currently fight to stay in a med but I totally understand the are thing. I lost over 75lbs because of being ill.. I have been a smaller size for 4yrs now and am only now baring my upper arms! It’s like something we’re not supposed to do after we have been over wt!
But enough of that! I am with the one who said that the fushia or hot pink shirt looks great on you!!! I really do not think that your arms are too big for the shirt-but I have been there. My sons actually got me to stop & wear other stuff! Because, like the other person commented, YOU ROCK THAT TOP!!!
Thanks for posing for the pictures! You look great!!

I’m very self conscious about my arms as well and I REFUSE to wear sleeves that “show off” my arms. I do have to say the selection in this box is right up my alley.

I lost about 90 lbs 2 years ago, and decided never to wear anything I didn’t feel gorgeous in. Kudos to you for doing the same — whether anyone else would notice your arms or not (I wouldn’t, and that shirt is gorgeous on you) isn’t the point; the point is that you feel self-conscious in it and therefore it’s not for you. However, I think it’s worthwhile to remember that that color is absolutely a hit for you and to look for other clothing in it. I also love the NYJD shirt, although I agree that long sleeves in summer aren’t a great idea. It’s probably worth keeping an eye out for it on sales racks, though.

I am so happy to have you write these reviews for women who aren’t a size 2 or 4. Most of us have areas where we are self conscience so it’s refreshing to see honest reviews. I also love the fact that this most commenters are always people who are supportive of one another and don’t pick each other apart. 🙂

Ditto, I appreciate it as well.

Thanks Stacey! I am grateful for the support, too. ?

Thanks for being brave with the pictures! I disagree with you about the top, though, I think that color looks so wonderful with your hair, that no one would notice arms 🙂 But, you know what you are willing to rock, so I “get” that you only buy what makes YOU feel pretty–but I hope they send you that color again!

Thanks for including a picture! It’s always great to see the clothes on an actual person! 🙂

I’d love to see how the dress looks on.

Thanks Aussie! Maybe next time. 🙂

I think you look adorable in that top! But I get the arm self-consciousness! It’s usually pretty cold in my office, so I feel justified buying cute sleeveless tops and wearing a shrug over them. 🙂

I had to laugh at how they described a long-sleeved top as “perfect to keep you cool on hot summer days.” No. It’s going to be 110 (again) in Phoenix today. I would pass out if I wore that top outside for more than 2 minutes. It’s super-cute though, but not remotely seasonally appropriate. Also Anna, as predicted, you are adorable!

In had the same issue with Dia this month. I live in LV. It’s 130. They sent me 2 long sleeved shirts, a long sleeved black jersey maxi and black wool dress slacks. I kept a shirt as not to lose my styling fee. It’s cute. Everything else went back with a mean note.

Thanks Amy! I know, right? I get that there are lots of circumstances, apparently, in which someone might need more coverage in the summer. I’m just saying, I am never in any of those circumstances! I srsly was melting lastnight at the fireworks. It was 89 degrees at 10:30 pm!
