pura-vida-jul-coffee

Pura Vida Costa Rican Terrazu Coffee - Value $4.80

This coffee is outstanding! I prefer coffees from Central America, and this particular coffee is a great reminder of why. It's bold but not too bold, and there's very low acidity. Just rich coffee flavor!

pura-vida-jul-snacks

Thunderbird Real Food Bar - Value $2.13

The ingredients on this fruit bar are pretty clean by my standards, so this is officially going into my emergency food stash. It looks delicious!

Taza Chocolate Coconut Crunch Tazito - Value $1.24

Of course this was completely melted by the time it arrived, but at least it didn't melt all over everything. Chocolate in July is a rookie mistake for subscription boxes. I'm sure by now they have heard plenty of complaints about it!

pura-vida-jul-salts

The Natural Choice Apothecary Detox Bath Salts - Value $6

This is basically what I consider perfect bath salt! It has epsom salt in it for a magnesium boost, plus two other types of salt, plus soothing herbs such as lavender and peppermint. I get tons of bath salts in subscription boxes, but I am glad to have this one!

pura-vida-jul-kit

pura-vida-jul-kit-2

Cuccio Somatology Yoga Essentials Kit - Value $12.95

This is a really neat kit! It has three different products in deluxe sample sizes - all designed to help enhance the yoga experience through heightened awareness of your body and environment. It includes a balancing oil, a balancing lotion for dry skin, and a yoga mat cleaner. I actually received this exact kit in my June Yogi Surprise Box, and they're all nice products.

pura-vida-jul-sanitizer

Life's a Beach Hand Sanitizer by Nicole Made This - Value $7?

This is not for sale in Nicole's etsy shop, so I'm basing the value on her similar products. I have to be honest and confess that I hate most hand sanitizers... They leave my hands feeling sticky, and so I'm not sure what the point is. BUT, the schools require that I send in hand sanitizer as part of my supplies bundle, so it will still go to good use.

Verdict: This was the second box from Pura Vida, and I have to say I think they moved a little in the wrong direction this month. I can't spot anything besides the coffee that was made in Costa Rica, and I'm not sure what the salts, the yoga kit, or the hand sanitizer have to do with Costa Rica at all. The value this month is around $34, which is well below the $47 cost. For a box of this nature, they should be able to provide abundant value for the cost. Everything I received is nice and will go to good use, but I am frankly pretty disappointed. If next month's box isn't much better then I will definitely have to re-think this subscription.

When I saw the brand name, I was thinking it was a bracelet box sub, which might sound odd, but I was excited.

Yes perfect review and I am very shocked they would send most of thoses things and the price was so low compared to what was payed. I also think that you were nice when putting a dollar amount on moost items because most could get some of these things for half that. I would of cancelled. Better luck with next months though.

Your review of this box… It’s like you were writing all of the thoughts running through my head while I boxed it! I, too, was dissatisfied with this second box (especially since I thought the first box was so unique & pretty amazing) and wondered how this fit with their overall theme. I really want to like this box but it is more expensive than others I receive and it has to “wow” me. This one was way below the “wow” factor (especially with the melted chocolate everywhere)! I’m giving this box one more month and will decide if I’m going to continue it out not. It’s a shame, really, because I thought the first box was one of the best boxes I’d ever received.

I have to agree , when I think of Costa Rica I’m thinking coffee, spices , candy, maybe some type of jewelry, postcards this is a very disappointing box….
