July's theme is "Destination Beauty". Usually Beauteque's themes are irrelevant to curation so I wouldn't give it too much thought.
Milky Dress Deo Essence Soft Armpit Cream - $17.99
How intriguing! This is an underarm brightening essence that contains niacinamide and papaya leaf extract to gently brighten dark spots due to frequent shaving. It is applied to dry armpits after showering. The cream is slightly scented and absorbs quickly. Even if the cream was true to its claims, it would take a while to see visible difference in underarm skin tone! Therefore I can't say much about it for now.
Light-Blocking Sleeping Eye Mask - $5
I rarely use eye masks; I have this amazing ability to sleep anywhere regardless of brightness. That said, my boyfriend has the ability to lose every single eye mask he owns! He'll be happy to get this one.
Esfolio Moisture Soothing Gel in Snail - $10.99
This is a large tub of lightweight gel. It contains 95% snail mucin, which is known for its moisturizing, replenishing, and repairing properties. Aside from using it as head-to-toe moisturizer, I use lightweight gels like this Esfolio one as wash-off masks for an extra boost of hydration.
Purpletale 5 Steps to Lovely Skin - $7.99
This Purpletale product has been in many K-beauty subscription boxes recently! It is an all-in-one skincare pack that includes foam cleanser, ampoule, sheet mask, face cream, and neck cream in TSA-friendly sizes. The five steps are labeled clearly so you know what to use first.
First, the cleanser makes my face feel clean to a fault-- the squeaky clean, friction-y feeling is so intense it's uncomfortable. Next, the ampoule feels thick at first but once dried it leaves skin smooth, nourished, and without any of that sticky or residual feeling. After that is the sheet mask. It's is a two-piece gel mask that is super thin and clings to my face like second skin. Its essence is thick but does not leave my face sticky after use. Finally, the face cream and neck cream smell really amazing and absorbs quickly without leaving any residual feeling on my skin.
This is the third time I've tried this set and I now hold it in higher regard than before. Aside from the squeaky cleanser, I love the fragrance and non-sticky formula of this skincare set. As someone who's really picky about sticky or tacky skincare, this is an amazing discovery!
Inner Skin Soothing Cleansing Water - $12.90
Inner Skin is a Taiwanese brand. This cleansing water is alcohol and fragrance free, and it's gentle enough for sensitive skin. It contains witch hazel extract, hyaluronic acid, collage, and ceramides to balance and tone the skin. It doesn't smell like much and does a great job cleaning off day makeup. Whereas some cleansing/micellar waters I've tried leave a strange, even uncomfortable, residue after use, this one keeps that residual feeling to a minimum. Overall this is another great discovery!
Secret Kiss Chubby Jelly Lip Tint Pack - $8
This is almost identical to the Berrisom lip tint packs I've received in PinkSeoul boxes. This is like a heavy-duty stain that requires a 10-15 minute wait after applying to your lips. After the gel dries, peel it off your lips for very long-wearing color. Unfortunately, I don't like the orange color. It's messy to apply and hard to color within lip lines. Plus, the resulting color looks uneven. Overall, I don't think the Secret Kiss formula is as good as the Berrisom one.
A demonstration and lip swatch of the Secret Kiss lip tint pack. The color didn't come out very evenly. I suspect the formula is at fault.
July's bag is cute! I think this is the first Beauteque branded bag too!
Verdict: I almost always enjoy my Beauteque BB Bag. The curation is consistent (bags are more skincare-focused, they feature a variety of Asian brands) and value is always over the cost of subscription. I'm really happy about discovering the Inner Skin cleansing water and reaffirming my love for the Purpletale 5 Steps set. The estimated total retail value is $62.87, which is more than twice the cost of the bag.
