BB5-description card front

BB5-description card back

Each Beauty Box 5 comes with a description card. This month's theme is "Will Brake For Makeup” since all the products are road trip ready. The card has everything you need to know: name of product, short description, price & they even state if it's full-size or not! This month we received a bonus: a $10 gift card to Better Skin Mirakle Cream.

BB5-products1

Hikari Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Bone- FULL SIZE! $13.00

I’m familiar with the Hikari Cosmetics brand thanks to subscription boxes. I love adding eyeshadows to my growing collection and I don’t have one this color so I was excited to receive it! It has good pigment and will blend well with other colors.

Beauty Box 5 Round Blending Brush – FULL SIZE! $10.00

I love receiving beauty brushes in subs because it’s one of those products I don’t want to buy, but love getting! I also like the quote on the brush handle: "Can’t Stop Contouring!" Pretty cute. The card suggests using this brush to buff eyeshadow and to sweep on glowing highlighter.

BB5-products2

Skinny Tan Application Mini Mitt- FULL SIZE! $4.95

This is the cutest baby mitt ever! It’s so tiny and perfect for traveling. The card calls it a mitt-lette which makes it even better. I have this in my makeup bag waiting for fall when my tan fades and I need a quick boost. Side note: it’s sold out on their website so it must be pretty popular.

Chella Tantalizing Taupe Eyebrow Color Pencil- FULL SIZE! $18.00

Once again, thanks to subscription boxes I’m familiar with the Chella brand. I’m a fan of this brand and I really like this eyebrow pencil, because it not only blends well with my brow color but also goes on super smooth. Throwing this in my makeup bag now!

BB5-mirror

Sweep Rose Gold Tweezers & Mirror- FULL SIZE! 19.00

When you have eyebrows like mine you can never have enough tweezers. My personal favs are the tweezers that have handles similar to scissors. However, I love rose gold & tweezers so when you combine the two you can’t lose.

The mirror is a bonus item from Sweep Beauty- awesome!  It’s so cute & quirky that it already has a home in my purse How can you say no to that winky face?

BB5-swatches

Hikari Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Bone (top swatch) and Chella Tantalizing Taupe Eyebrow Color Pencil (bottom swatch)

Verdict: I really liked this month’s Beauty Box 5! Although the theme is a little random for August they gave a good variety of products. I also liked how every item was full-size. I plan on using everything in the box so total win for me! I calculated the value of this box to be at $64.95 which is significantly higher than the $12 purchase price so I’m extremely happy.

I found that the support staff answered quite quickly but were a bit rude at times

Im not all too pleased with that eyebrow pencil, it doesn’t glide on well for me and breaks easily. I was somewhat happy with this box. I am awaiting my 3rd box before deciding if this box is a keeper. So far I haven’t been wowed.

I got the same box but my Hikari shadow was a very dark brown shade. It was too dark for me to use as anything but a liner (which is fine, I like brown liner). I think that BB5 has really improved their game from a while back.

Ahhhhh. I keep contemplating getting the 3 month sub to try this one. Looking back at the last few months reviews, it does look worth it. The struggle. Do I or don’t I? lol

Are all the boxes the same? If I recall correctly they were like Ipsy and all over the place.

I’ve been subscribing since March or April this year, and I’ve never seen any variations when I compare my box to those that are reviewed.

Mary K

That is correct. No variations — one of the things I love about BB5! They also answer their emails! ?

Paige

This looks like a really great box. My Ipsy and Birchbox annual subs both run out in December. I am going to keep an eye on this one and if this continues, I may drop them both and do an annual for this, which only calculates to around $8.25 per month. It looks like an amazing value and very usable items.

I’ve received the chella eyebrow pencil in a couple sub boxes and I absolutely love it. It is definitely an item I will repurchase.

I think BB5 is such an underrated box! They send some interesting items that you didn’t realize you needed, like that tanning mitten, or a little spatula to remove the last bit of product from packaging. I’ve gotten some real gems from them and I always get a kick out of unboxing each month. I got an annual sub with a coupon so pay less than $8 per box.

Laura

Is there a coupon now for a reduced annual sub?

Mary K

No, not at the moment. Their only current coupon is for a free eyeshadow with an annual sub. I’ll let you know if I hear of any though. 🙂

Danielle

That mirror is super cute! It looks like the past two boxes have been really great.

They do! I just cancelled a few other boxes and seriously thinking of coming back to this one. I had it a few years ago and really liked it!
