Alterna Caviar CC Cream 10-In-1 Leave-In Hair Perfector - 1 oz Value $12

Alterna is one of my all-time favorite haircare lines. Their products are all free from ingredients you may want to avoid (parabens, phthalates, etc.) and the formulas work well and smell amazing, too. This CC Cream is designed to provide "moisture, shine, smoothness, softness, anti-breakage, heat protection, light hold, UV protection, manageability, and strength."

I can tell a difference in my hair softness and shine when I apply it to damp hair. It's also great as a finishing product for dry hair to manage frizz and flyaways.

Vincent Longo Eyeshadow in Rhythm Mix 2 - FULL SIZE! Value $30

One thing I didn't realize the first time I received a Vincent Longo eyeshadow trio is that the Sun, Stars, and Moon are coordinated for how you are supposed to apply the shades:

Using Brush #22, cover eyelids from lash to brow with lightest shade (Sun). Next, use Brush #33 to apply deepest shade (Stars) to define the lash line and shade outer corner of eyes. Follow by brushing accent shade (Moon) into crease of your eye, using Brush #18. Finally, with a light hand, use Brush #22 to blend everything together.

The pigment in these shades is pretty good. There is a decent amount of shimmer, and I could really build color with a few brush strokes:

Lovely jewel tones!

beautyfix-august-2016-juice

Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Sensitive - FULL SIZE! Value $39

I love Juice Beauty products - they're organic, gentle on my skin, and usually smell great, too. To use this peel, you apply a thin layer to a clean face and let it sit for 10 minutes, then remove. It left my skin feeling soft and surprisingly moisturized, too. (I was expecting a "peel" to be drying.)

I'm going to continue to use this and see how it helps my skin/pores. (I've read several reviews where it has done wonders for acne/blackheads/etc.)

beautyfix-august-2016-bliss

Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Foaming Mask - 5 ml Value $2.70

If you like masks that you can feel working - I think you'll like this one! You apply it to damp skin, massage in for a few moments, and then it starts to foam! It was foaming for the entire time I wore it (only 5 minutes needed), and when I removed it my skin felt super clean and smooth.

It did leave my skin feeling slightly dry, though, so I recommend following up with a moisturizer or serum:

Decleor Hydrating Oil Serum - 5 ml Value $24

I thought this was a small sample, but it is actually 1/3 of the full-size version! This serum is made with 100% natural oils, and it felt decadent on my skin! It took a little while to fully absorb, but it never made my skin look shiny or oily.

beautyfix-august-2016-pill-box

Danielle Creations Vitamin & Pill Box - Value $15

beautyfix-august-2016-cork

This pill box has gold flecks mixed into the cork and a peach felt lining inside:

beautyfix-august-2016-open

And the pill case is completely removable:

beautyfix-august-2016-removed

I think this would work well as a travel jewelry case, too:

beautyfix-august-2016-jewelry

It's such a pretty piece!

beautyfix-august-2016-pangea

Pangea Cosmetics Facial Cream in Nigerian Ginger with Lavender & Thyme - 1 oz Value $19

This facial cream is so thin it is almost a liquid, and it absorbs almost instantly. If you are looking for a lightweight moisturizer - this is it! Plus I like the natural scent, too.

(One thing to mention - this product is temporarily unavailable on Pangea's site.)

beautyfix-august-2016-cream

Luzern Pure Oxygen Creme Luxe - 10 ml Value $25

This creme is a liquid/cream hybrid, and it absorbs well and left my skin feeling super hydrated and soft. (And it is paraben-free!) At this point, I'm hoping I don't love it too much since the full size retails for $150!

beautyfix-august-2016-tocca

Tocca Perfume in Stella - 1.5 ml Value $2.50

This scent wasn't for me, but I can't complain - the rest of this box is amazing!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $170! Incredible! So many luxe products in this box, and I love that adorable pill box ended up being one of my favorite items this month! (I'm already thinking of buying another duplicate box!)

I think BeautyFix almost always delivers a great value compared to the cost, and they did that again this month. If you are looking for a good mix of skincare and haircare products with the occasional beauty item, I highly recommend this box.

What do you think of the August 2016 Beauty Fix box? What are your favorite items this month?

Why does the website say that the box is sold out?
How do you sign up to their next box?

You have to watch it early next month, when they will open up subscriptions again. There will probably be posts here with spoilers and such, which should be good reminders to go check.

This was my first box, and I really want to continue it. However, I logged in to my account to view my subscription information – e.g. when I can expect to be billed next – and there are absolutely no details about any active subscriptions, only a record of my initial purchase. The live chat rep said my subscription details should appear under “Manage Auto Refills” after my *second* shipment. I asked how I am supposed to know when I will be billed. She said the billing date will appear after my next shipment. However she also said I would be billed the same day my next box ships. Perhaps I misunderstood, but this implies I will not be notified of any billing ahead of time – I will only be able to see billing/shipping info after the fact. She did say that I will be billed sometime during the first week of the month. I told her that I’m pretty sure consumer protection laws prohibit varying and uncertain recurring billing dates. Then she offered to cancel my subscription.

I’m a little freaked out at this point. I loved my first box, and the value to price point is reasonable and great for my budget. But I don’t want to keep a subscription with unclear terms and unpredictable billing. Can anyone else give me a better idea of how this sub works??? Thank you!

Janet

Hi there. I just looked up my account, and I agree that their website is a bit confusing! That being said…I have been a subscriber for well over a year, keeping between 1 and 3 subscriptions per month (I always maintain 1 subscription…but if I really like the box a particular month, like this month, I’ll “turn back on” my other subscription(s) for that month)…and I have never had a problem with billing from them. They don’t notify me each time my card is charged, but my charge consistently goes through on the 4th of each month (for July, when 4th was a holiday, it processed on the 6th, but otherwise it’s always been the 4th.) The only thing I don’t care for about BeautyFix is that to cancel, you do have to call them, rather than being able to do it online…but it has always been a quick call, and no problems. (I call them to cancel my “duplicate” subscriptions after the months when I ramp up to get extra boxes 😉 ). I also have found their overall customer service to be really good. The few times I have had a damaged product they have either replaced it right away; once they even sent me an entire new box. So, hopefully this helps to ease your mind about their billing…they are consistent with their billing (at least for me), so I wouldn’t worry about it. 🙂 Why their website doesn’t better reflect subscription statuses, I’m not sure…it could definitely be made much clearer! But overall I think this is a great subscription…while not everything I receive is a “hit” for me, more products are than are not, and their boxes are always high value.

Hi Janet,
When you duplicate subscription boxes do you use different from mail addresses and/or names?
Thank you, Alyce

stfne

Janet, thank you so much for taking the time to respond! As long as the billing date remains consistent I will have no problem. I keep a chart of all my subs and when they bill. I really don’t want the hassle of keeping track of a variable billing date. Your experience sets me more at ease. Thank you!

Sure sign of sub box addiction- when you get home from vacation and there’s a pile of boxes waiting for you! I’m super happy with this box and even got the eye shadow color I was hoping for! (The one in the spoiler pics- I don’t have anything like it). BeautyFix is my favorite. I’m still kicking myself for not ordering a second July box because of that amazing night serum.

Claudia

I hear you! I was away for a week, only a week and there was a huge pile of sub boxes waiting in the Post Office for me. The postal workers were a little bit snappish at first then they asked me how i intended to get the pile back to my car. As it is, they only gave me half the packages. Haha, at least now i can see which subs are still active. I really like the BeautyFix box! It give me a chance to try products that wouldn’t be on my radar otherwise.

Ditto – I pick up my boxes one a week, and get interesting looks from the staffers. I’ve been asked if I’m a reviewer. LOL

Now, when they ask me my box number I reply, “You don’t know?” We have a good laugh and it seems to break the tension. It’s a small PO, so I’m wondering if I should bring them some sort of goodie tray as a thank you during the holidays.

Michelle

Well, I did it! Subscribed today! What a box, can’t wait to try everything! I was sooo disappointed with my Glossybox this month so I dropped it…Hello Beautyfix!!

Reply ButtonReply

JACKIE M WALLACE

Use to have GLOSSYBOX as well, I can only use so much makeup but I love love getting new skin care I can always use that! I really love the Allure box as well. They send an occasional makeup product but it’s interesting at least.

Reply ButtonReply

Dawn

You will see a HUGE difference with Beautyfix! This is THEE BEST BOX OUT THERE! I Cancelled GlossyBox too and Allure!

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

Yeah I was disappointed with Allure this month as well…needless to say I am Super excited to get this one! I need a pick me up!lol

Leslie

What I love about this box is the value for the price. My income bracket does not afford for me to buy luxe skincare, but that is what I love the most in any subscription box. I used to buy Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair once a year and use the tiniest amount, so I could make it last the full year. This box allows me to try many different products and, especially with the thin fluid that is found in serums (which are my favorite), I can make almost any small size sample last for 3 months at a time. I believe that the science behind skincare has vastly improved since the eighties and nineties, when you could pay a lot of money for a cream and it wouldn’t really do what it was advertised to. Now, I usually see results with most products. It has made a big difference in my skin. I may be paying much more than one bottle of ANR a year, but it is worth it and I really get the value for my money. This box is the best!

Dawn

Amen! I TOTALLY 100% AGREE!

I’m so excited to actually see Luzern Laboratories in a sub box! I think I’m going to buy this just based on the travel size Force de Vie alone (I was already planning to buy the travel size on its own, which is $25)…. Luzern is a super luxe natural skincare line made with alpine plant extracts, and it’s by far my favorite skincare I’ve ever used. I found out about it from an esthetician here in NYC and apparently it’s also used in the Four Seasons spa/has a celebrity cult following. I’ve actually stopped buying other creams since I started using Force de Vie a few years ago–it’s that good (I used to try new skincare constantly and never really found something that I loved and felt like balanced out my skin until this stuff). I know I probably sound like I spokesperson for Luzern at this point, but I just love this stuff so much! I hope a few more people become Force de Vie devotees after trying it in this box!

Also a tip for buying products from Dermstore in general–if autoship is available for the product, buy it during a sale (like now, there’s a 25% off sale going on) and select autoship, and future shipments will continue to ship at the sale price (plus the fifth refill is free)! It’s helped make my Luzern habit more affordable for sure, lol. It’s easy to change/cancel/skip the autoship too, which was important to me.

Reply ButtonReply

Dawn

Wow! Thanks for the tip on the sale price remaining the same for future shipments as I am enamored by the decleor aromessence neroli oil! Very spendy! But now I think I figured out how to make it more affordable thanks to you ?

Ragan

I need to do that for Epionce stuff. My favorite product by them is carried by Dermstore (and practically no one else) and is $54 a tube!

Kelly

Love this sub! I got the same eye trio as Liz, but I prefer neutral tones. Anyone who got the browns want to swap?

Reply ButtonReply

Ashley

Hi Kelly!! I got the eyeshadow trio in Premiere Dreamwhich has a brown, nude/gold, and light lavender shade. I’m thinking this is the one you’re wanting. And I want the one searched above that Liz received. If you still need to swap, let me know!! I just received by box yesterday. Thanks!

Sorry *swatched…lol

This sub is the best! I use almost everything every month and Customer service has been amazing when I have a problem!

There is no code available, but if you add the box in the shopping cart, at the bottom right corner of the page they ask for new subscriber email. After you enter an unregistered email there and enter, you get $4.99 discount.
P.S. If the discount doesn’t show right away, refresh the page. It worked for me.

Love the box, but the eyeshadow was busted into a multi-hued powder. I emailed Customer Service requesting a replacement, but haven’t heard anything yet.

What’s wrong with this picture? I REALLY wanted the eye shadow….the ONE thing I WANTED! But, I’d have obv chose an $$ item at least to maybe swap for a shadow! I’m kinda upset!

Randi

I love that pill box. Definitely going to look to swap for it

Reply ButtonReply

Dawn

Man do I love this Box! I’m really really really in love with the decleor oil! The eyeshadows I got were GORGEOUS Browns, and I loved everything basically except that pill box…? Odd addition to a beauty box and I don’t take any pills so just weird. I’d swap it if I only knew how ?

Reply ButtonReply

Leslie Belt

I totally don’t want my pill box! So, we should trade! Lol!

Reply ButtonReply

KarenG

Just opened my box and loved it! Not a major fan of Juice Beauty but it makes a nice gift. The pill box is super cute and you can re-purpose it if you don’t take meds or supplements, it’s really nice item. I got the same eye shadow that Liz did, love love love anything Alterna. Decker is a superb luxury brand and I can’t wait to try this serum. Listen Cree smells wonderful. Bliss mask not exciting, I’ve seen it too many times this summer in other boxes, low value. Looking forward to trying Pangea and my least favorite is the Tocca fragrance.
All in all a great box, will definitely get a second one, my mom would love this pill box and I would love doubles of most items. Good job Beautyfix!

Decleor. Darn auto correct ?

Is anyone else tired of getting juice beauty products? I want something cutting edge. Probably be swapping most.

The surprise find for me was the Caviar CC Cream for your hair. It fought the frizzies without weighing my hair down! I think I’m going to purchase this product after I run out.

Is there still a 50% coupon for first time subs?

Great box this month. I am always happy with this sub. However, my peel jar was broken and the peel was everywhere! This is my first time contacting customer service. Waiting to hear back. Customer service can make or break a sub for me…especially since there is a risk receiving broken items from shipment.

The peel jar in my box was not completely closed and spilled all over. Customer service was great, they responded fast and shipped a new jar immediately.

Customer service WAS quick and sent me an email they will be shipping out a replacement!

So, I just bit. I was going to sign up for the monthly service. However, as a newbie signing up, I received a 15 percent off my order plus a $20 Instyle magazine sub.
Great deal!

I admit, I ordered this box just because I wanted the pill case. Looking at the remaining items, I see that this is in fact a really good box from Beautyfix! Looking forward to trying the Pangea product.

I’m a little sad with this month’s box, but I still think it’s a fabulous deal. I didn’t get either Liz’s eyeshadow colors or the spoiler ones – I got another set of browns. I like brown fine but I have so many. Also, won’t use the heavier face cream and don’t care for the smell of neroli. Oh, well. The rest is all nice; I think I’m just being picky today.
