July's theme is “Hello Summer”. This month, Cocotique has teamed up with Luster Products, Inc to bring us a Takeover box filled with haircare from two of their brands, Pink and You Be-Natural. Our note from the founder, Dana Hill says to remember to take the time to be thankful daily to give us a mood boost during a busy day.

COCOJUL - 9

Pink - Jojoba & Grapeseed Oil - 2oz - $2.99

I love oils. This one ok for me. I’ve tried it in my hair and it works fine, just isn’t my favorite. I’d decided to finish it off as a body oil. It doesn’t have much of a fragrance, but it smells sweet and fresh.

Pink - Original Oil Moisturizer Hair Lotion -  2oz - $1.90

We used this all the time when I was younger and didn’t read ingredients. In my opinion, mineral oils aren’t good for your hair. So, I’m passing a few products along to non-ingredient conscious friends.

Pink - Shea Butter Coconut Oil Edge Smoother Gel - 20oz - $4.98

There’s not enough edges to go around for all the edge gel we have in the house. LOL. I’m going to gift it away to a friend along with a few other products from the box this month. It doesn’t look any different than any other edge control we already have in stock.

COCOJUL - 12

Pink - Moisturizing & Silkening Conditioner - 0.75oz - $1.00

Pink - Sulfate Free Shampoo - 1oz - $1.00

I’m not a fan of foil samples when it comes to haircare. Both of these are too small for me to completely wash and condition my hair. I will pass them along. I did take note that both packets have notches for easy opening, and neither had the ingredients listed on the back. I tried to find the ingredients listed online and couldn’t come up with a list on several websites that carried the brand.

COCOJUL - 15

You Be Natural - Botanical Black Castor Oil Scalp Soother Ointment - 2oz - $8.98

I really love this ointment. It melts down so smooth so that you can apply it to your scalp. It’s lightweight and lightly fragranced. I wouldn’t call it a soother though. It doesn’t tingle, chill or warm the scalp after application. It just goes on well. I’m glad to have it and will use more of it in the colder months when my scalp tends to feel more dry.

You Be Natural - Botanical 3n1 CoWash Cleansing Conditioner - 1.5oz - $1.00

We love cowashing! I’ve found that our hair loves us back when we cowash versus shampoo/condition. I’m trying to remember if we had this one before from Cocotique. I believe a few subscribers may have received this as an alternate product when this brand was featured previously. I could be wrong. This sample size isn’t enough for me of course, so I plan on using it on the kiddos. We’ve nearly cleaned out the tub of cowash from Eden Bodyworks.

COCOJUL - 17

You Be Natural - Botanical TKO Tangle Knock Out - Leave In Detangler - 8.5oz - $9.98

I really wanted this one to work out for my thick hair. It’s ok. It works so much better on the kiddos loose curl type. In my curls, I found that I still needed to add a ton of water to completely saturate the curls before manipulation. Otherwise, wavy to curly hair will love it. It smells very nice, applied well, and mixed seamlessly with other hair products.

COCOJUL - 18

Verdict: This July, COCOTIQUE had an estimated retail value of nearly $32.00. I didn’t care for most of the Pink line, but I know that I will use everything from You Be Natural. Takeover boxes can be hit or miss depending entirely if you love the brand or not. I love that this month, they split the takeover within an incorporation in the attempt to hit the mark for more subscribers. I really appreciate that!

What did you think of COCOTIQUE this month? Did you enjoy Pink over You Be Natural? Or enjoy both equally? Tell us your thoughts about it in the comments below.

TAM

I used the Pink Lotion a lot when I was younger. I was going to subscribe but when I saw that this month was a take over box of products that I wouldn’t use, I opted to wait.
