YAY! We were so excited that this subscription box finally arrived! We have been waiting since it was announced earlier this summer. We have a small collection of ear hat ornaments so far and are very excited to be adding to that collection!

Disney does not release spoilers for this box.

As you can see, this arrives in an unassuming outside shipping box that does not give away the contents within. As soon as you open the box, you are greeted with Disney Store tissue paper. I don’t know how Disney does it, but as soon as you see that paper, the room gets really quiet, and you can feel something special is inside the box.

Disney has perfected the packaging and presentation here.

This totally reminded me of gull-wing doors on a gift box. My dad would be impressed.

Love the glossy Mickey ear hats everywhere.

Packaging and presentation are so important for a box like this. This would be an amazing gift.

disney_park_pack_holiday_edition_august_box11

Love it.

Here is the bottom of the box itself.

Let’s take a quick peek….

Interesting!!!

Ok, let’s open this thing up! Under the cover, we have another lid. Here the satin ribbon is fed through a hole in the center of the box. I am pretty sure the plastic ring and Mickey tag are there to prevent the ornament from being prematurely removed from the packaging so the recipient knows what they are receiving is authentic. (Smart move, Disney.)

After snipping the plastic ring, we can get to the ornament inside.

Jiminy Cricket! AKA Pinocchio’s conscience, of course. I would never have guessed that Disney would start this subscription box series off with Jiminy Cricket, but I love it. It is awesome that they reached back to a classic and one of my personal favorite Disney characters of all time. Am I the only one who immediately thought of this song upon seeing this?

disney_park_pack_holiday_edition_jiminy_cricket2

I love all the references to Jiminy Cricket on this ornament without actually having a picture of Jiminy himself on here.

disney_park_pack_holiday_edition_jiminy_cricket3

Disney likes to maintain a little mystery without being over-the-top obvious when you first look at things. Keeps it interesting and fun.

It is also awesome that the ribbon is easily removable for those who want to keep this ear hat ornament on display all year round instead of just seasonally.

Here is a closer look at the sparkles on the umbrella.

Here is the back of the ear hat ornament.

Jiminy’s signature and his hat. I always love to see Disney characters’ signatures. When you meet characters in the Disney theme parks, they will sign things for you and they always keep each character’s signature consistent. It is the little things.

disney_park_pack_holiday_edition_jiminy_cricket_bottom

Speaking of signatures. The bottom of the ornament has the printed signature of the artist who designed it. Derek Lesinski is a character artist with Disney. Per his LinkedIn profile, Derek has received the Walt Disney Legacy Award which is the Disney Parks highest honor given to those to live up to the standards set by Walt himself and exemplified through the main focal points of Dream, Create, and Inspire. That is really cool. We can also see the Park Pack logo on the bottom of the ornament here.

Value: Disney Ear Hat Ornaments usually sell for $24.95 each. That is the same monthly cost as this subscription box when an annual subscription is purchased up front and likely why that option is sold out. The monthly subscription is $29.99 which is a bit over the annual price per month, but offers flexibility. For reference purposes, both Disney official subscription boxes as well as third-party, unaffiliated subscription box companies who offer Disney items almost always come at a premium cost and still are almost always completely sold out. You can see a list of these here.

I should note, however, that items within the subscription boxes that come from Disney itself often are exclusives and/or collectible items that either premier in or are completely unavailable outside of the boxes themselves and which regularly command an additional premium on the resale market.

The ear hat ornaments usually don’t come in this special packaging which really adds to the whole experience. I have never even seen a Jiminy Cricket ear hat ornament before! I love that this box allows subscribers to easily enjoy a little bit of Disney magic in their own homes. To me, that makes this the perfect gift for any Disney fan.

Verdict: We love the Disney Park Pack: Holiday Edition at our house and can’t wait to see next month!

What do you think of this box? Do you love Disney as much as we do?

If I order this subscription through this website, does it come in a MySubscriptionAddiction.com box as pictured, or will I receive it in a Disney Box? How does this work?

This subscription comes in the special gift box as pictured above. In order to protect that special box during shipping, Disney packages that box inside a regular brown shipping box that will have a label with the recipient’s mailing address on the outside. I put the MSA sticker over the mailing label so my address is not visible in this review. Hope that helps!

Nice review!!!! Definitely jiminy cricket was a surprise. I’m not too crazy about him so I wasn’t 100% loving the ears. But I can’t wait to see what I’ll be getting next month.

We are so excited, too! 🙂

When they had the yearly Disney collector sculptures they started it out with Jiminy Cricket. It was the most sought after along with year 2 which was Chesire cat. Maybe you’ll get him next.

Great unboxing. I love the autograph on the ears with the umbrella J.

Ohh, interesting! The May 2016 Pin Trading Edition of the Park Pack, https://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/2016/05/disney-park-pack-subscription-box-review-may-2016.html, had a Cheshire Cat pin that was super popular as well.

Definitely looking forward to seeing what is next! 🙂

Great review Chris! I felt like I was opening the package myself (without the cost)! I love that they used Jiminy. He is definitely one of my favorite Disney characters. It’s cool that the first one in the sub was old school. Way to go Disney! They always seem to hit it out of the park.
