Horror Block July 2016 - 3

Horror Block never has a monthly theme - but they will spoil 3+ franchises included in the box before your deadline to sign up.

Horror Block July 2016 - 21

Horror Block July 2016 - 22

Each month includes an information card with details about each item included.

Horror Block July 2016 - 19

Pyscho House Shirt - Value $15?

This month's shirt features the iconic Bates Motel. It glows in the dark as well. While I've seen the original movie, I've steered cleared of the remake in 1998 and the Bates Motel TV series. This is one of those films that they can just stop trying to remake, in my opinion.

Horror Block July 2016 - 4

Friday The 13th Baseball Hat - Value $15-20?

On first glance, I wasn't too excited for a hat - but on further inspection, and with some wear, this hat is awesome!

Horror Block July 2016 - 6

It's got some fun details. The underside of the brim has some blood splatter and 'Jason Lives' typed out.

Horror Block July 2016 - 5

On the side, you'll find a Jason Voorhees mask. It looks like a pin, but it does not detach.

Horror Block July 2016 - 7

It's a snap back, of course, you should expect to receive snap back hats in subscription boxes since they are 'one size fits most'. This hat has a 'worn-in' feel to it as well, which I appreciated!

This, surprisingly, turned out to be one of my favorites of the month!

Alright, to get in the mood for the next item - play the theme song while reading!

Horror Block July 2016 - 8

McFarlane Walking Dead Hospital Doors Set - Value $10-15 on Amazon

This month, they included a buildable Walking Dead scene! I think that you could have received different scenes (the card shows a prison cell) - I received the hospital scene from the first episode/issue of The Walking Dead!

Horror Block July 2016 - 10

It's a McFarlane toy, so it's really detailed. It took about 30-40 minutes to piece together this 112 piece set.

Horror Block July 2016 - 11

I was a little surprised my the lack of detail in Rick's face, yet you can still tell that it's totally Rick - but overall, it's a greatly detailed set.

Horror Block July 2016 - 12

Look familiar?

It's a great throwback to the beginning of it all.

Horror Block July 2016 - 14

The doors even swing open! Very cool, very detailed, and one the best items ever sent in any Nerd Block block.

Horror Block July 2016 - 15

Assorted Blu-Ray - value $10-15?

This month, you could have received one of a number of Blu-Rays. I got a triple feature pack.

Horror Block July 2016 - 16

It's one disc but contains 3 movies. Forget Me Not, House of Fallen, and Red Hook. All new to me - is there any of these 3 I should be watching right away?

Horror Block July 2016 - 17

The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror Print - Value $10?

One of the franchises mentioned in the monthly spoilers was The Simpsons. I was a bit sad to see that it was a print - I was really pulling for a Treehouse of Horror specific vinyl figure!

Horror Block July 2016 - 18

August Rue Morgue - Value $9.95

As always - the monthly Rue Morgue issue is included!

Horror Block July 2016 - 20

ShirtPunch Credit - Value $10

This is a newer perk to all Nerd Block blocks. You'll receive $10 to spend at ShirtPunch, where you can buy geeky shirts and toys (yes, including Funko POPs)!

Verdict: This is one of my favorite month's of Horror Block, ever. I especially love the hat and The Walking Dead build set - it was a ton of fun to build and photograph. I also love the ShirtPunch perk they've added across the board! More McFarlane buildable sets, please!

This was my favorite box since the six months ive been a subscriber am glad ive stick around even if my first 3 months were overall disapointing cuz the last were full of cool horror movies items . But this month with the awesome looking cap of my fav slasher franchise (already went fishing with it most cool looking i ever felt fishing) ,The print , aldo like you i was hoping for a cool toy , the print was a nice welcome since Return of the living has been a favorite of mine since ever. I got 4closed any one seen it , kinda looking forward to see Jamie Kennedy in a creepy role . The inly thing am suprise you dont complain is the monthly magazine dont get me wrong love rue morgue but i would prefer having the chance to subscribe , they switch it up with other magz or items . Since you review all their boxes why havent been more vocal thats its their only box thats contains a the same monthly magazine instead of a item. Knew you would get addicted to the building sets , was so glad thet switch it up from the pops i too collect pops specially horror but it is my least favorite item to collect horror wise since its the cutest of the bunch . i too received the ivonic hospital scene , up to three building sets now , Daryl and his bike , the boiler room , this one plus a few blind bags and a box set of five figures , someti es there is dome flaws with the figurines specially in the blind bag but still a great horror toy

I thought “Forget Me Not” was pretty decent.

In my Horror Block I received Scar 3D. It has terrible reviews but stars Angela Bettis so I may have to check it out.

Great box review! I didn’t realize the Psycho shirt glows in the dark (I rarely read the info cards if it was described there). I loved the Jason hat, very cool! I didn’t care much for the Walking Dead kit but overall, good box. I would recommend you check out Bates Motel. Go into it with an open mind. It is a reimagining of the original story but Vera Farmiga is an amazing actress so I’m able to overlook its flaws.

I didn’t know there were horror boxes. This looks so great, although too expensive. I would love that toy to build, too, and would wear the hat! And the pin, also good.

Not interested in anything Simpsons.

Also love anything that glows in the dark. In fact, I’m wearing my vintage Swatch watch now (all year!) with a pumpkin face that not only glows in the dark, but has a special button with an extra light!

There are so many horror movies…surely they could have found one good one for the DVD. (I haven’t seen these, just going by the other comments.)

You can usually find this stuff on ebay for individual purchases 😀

The pin will actually come off the hat. You have to lift up on the material going around the hat and then you can see the back of the pin and unpinch it and pull it out.

Thanks – not sure how I missed that. I should stop doing photoshoots when I’m tired.

I love the hat! The shirt is really cool as well. This is one of the best Horror Block boxes I’ve seen yet. As far as the movies, I’ve seen Forget Me Not. It was really bad. For reference, some of my favorite horror movies are Session 9, Halloween (1978), The Innkeepers, Spiral and You’re Next. Red Hook received terrible reviews, and I’ve never even heard of the other movie.

I was hugely bummed that I missed this box but we jumped on ebay and grabbed the hat for my husband…it’s so cool!

Awesome review!!! This is a perfect example of why I love this site so much…I don’t subscribe to this box, but I feel I was right there with Eric unboxing it and I loved every second of it! What a fun fun fun box. I can’t believe it’s only $20 (plus a hearty shipping charge, but still…that’s a great price for a big box of fun!!).

Thanks again Eric!
