My Geek Box July 2016 - 2

My Geek Box is an assortment of random geeky goodies. You won't find a card or theme in this box.

My Geek Box July 2016 - 10

Geek Shirt - Value $20 on Amazon

Welcome to my childhood! I love this month's shirt, it brings back all the feels. I think all Sega gamers remember the first time beating Sonic 1!

My Geek Box July 2016 - 3

TMNT 3D Mug - Value $10?

Well, the value is actually $0 for me because it arrived broken :(. This is the risk of getting an internationally shipped box. This is a cool mug, and I'm a TMNT fan, so it was a bummer for my favorite item from the box to arrive damaged.

Bowser Mini Figure Collectible - Value $10 on Amazon

We also received a Mario figure this month - it was a good month for the classic games. I got Bowser, but I'm betting there are some variations to the characters you could receive. I wouldn't consider this a mini figure as the package suggests, either. Bowser stands as tall as a full-size Titan vinyl figure - so around 3-4".

My Geek Box July 2016 - 6

Power Rangers Super Megaforce Mega Bloks Figure - Value $7 on Amazon

The last figure in the box was a blind bag Mega Bloks Power Ranger.

My Geek Box July 2016 - 7

Here's the red Rangers all put together with accessories - I'm not even sure the thing on the right is - some type of spinning blade?

My Geek Box July 2016 - 8

Jupiter's Legacy 2 #1 - Value $3.99

The final item in the box is a comic from Image Comics. I have some minor dyslexia because I read the writer's name as Frank Miller and got excited.

My Geek Box July 2016 - 9

I'm not familiar with the series and I feel as though I jumped into the middle of the story since this is after the first book. Overall, this issue was fast moving, so it was tough for me to get any footing without knowing the previous story.

Verdict: This was a good box - but its value fell a lot for me with the shattered mug. Overall, I love the shirt and Bowser figure - and would have loved the mug, which would have made it a great box for me. My boxes from My Geek Box typically arrive pretty roughed up after international travel, so it might not be unexpected to see this happen with fragile items.

My mug was broke also. I email them about it and they said they would credit me $5 (which I have not seen yet). Since the best thing in the box was broke and I did not see paying $19.99 for nothing I tried to cancel but was told I had missed the 14 day wait period. I have no idea what this is as my first bill was 7/10 and I emailed them on 8/3 (2 days after I received my box). There is already another bill to my card and that is fine if I missed the cut off to cancel for this billing cycle but I have no idea about a 14 day limit. I have emailed again just waiting on a reply. Would not recommend.

They won”t replace the mug. They are giving us a refund of 5 pounds which is not good because they charge a conversion fee which means it will be around $5. We cancelled. The shirt was the highlight of this box. There are too many other geek boxes with better value.

Out of all the boxes I’ve tried, this was one of the hardest boxes to cancel. I wanted to cancel because I hadn’t received a box yet, so I didn’t want to pay for second box . You had to email them to cancel, but they sent an automatic reply that I had to wait to get my first box before cancelling. It didn’t make any sense that I had to wait for my first box before I could cancel. They charged for my 2nd box before recieving my 1st box. I had to dispute it with my credit card company to get reimbursed. I could never reach an actually person.

Finally canceling this subscription (wish me luck!), as this box just takes the cake as being worthless for me. What a collection of pointless, ancient items, an obscure comic book you need to buy other comics to even begin to follow, and a tacky shirt (even by geek box standards). TMNT, Power Rangers, and Mario – what is this, 1998? Extremely disappointed yet again…

Have you reached out to customer service about the mug? I would hope they would offer to replace….

The paint on my bowser was terrible, a lot of it is peeled off and it is still in the package. My Donatello mug arrived safely though.

I wonder how that even happened? Sorry to hear that – but glad you got the mug!
