This month the theme for The Pantry Box is happy tropical dreams...or that's my interpretation of the letter, that is! Eat.Feed.Love also includes recipe cards.
This month the charity that Eat.Feed.Love is partnering with is Meals on Wheels West, an organization that delivers meals to homebound residents in Los Angeles Communities.
Got Snacks? Sweet & Spicy Lemongrass Roasted Coconut Chips - $3.00
These roasted coconut chips have a great flavor; you get the sweet heat of the lemongrass, and the nutty bite of coconut at the end. I really enjoyed these. I think they would be great sprinkled on oatmeal or a salad too!
Pacific Spice Company Jamaican Jerk Rub - $9.00
This Jamaican jerk rub is made with paprika, allspice, brown sugar, cumin, garlic, onion, thyme, black pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, sea salt, dried scallions, and habanero pepper.
The key word there is habanero - this stuff is spicy! It packs a flavorful punch, as you would expect from Jamaican jerk. I will be finding many ways to use this, for sure!
Bluff Cove Olive Oil - Mango White Balsamic - $10.00
One of my favorite subscription box discoveries has been white balsamic vinegar. I really love the clean, crisp taste of any white balsamic, and this one is no different! I made some mango scented rice with this to use with my Cascabel sauce below; the mango flavor came through very lightly, and complemented the sauce quite well!
American Juice Company - Herman Mangoville - $12.00
This mango juice is delicious with a bit of sparkling water and mint. Eat.Feed.Love recommends grapefruit liqueur and a dash of bitters - since I don't partake, I created my own little mocktail and enjoyed it immensely! I think you could also make a killer mango lassi with this.
San Angel Mole - Cascabel Sauce - $10.00
This is recommended for use with beef or pork, so I had to improvise a bit. I mixed this with some black beans, and ate it with the mango scented rice. It was excellent! I really enjoyed the flavors and the gentle heat from the cascabel peppers.
This was my completed beans and rice, and mocktail! Everything was delicious.
Verdict: This Pantry Taste Club from Eat.Feed.Love has a value of about $44.00. Since that is pretty close to the cost of the box, I think this is a winner. Eat.Feed.Love offers free shipping on each box, which is a great perk for a subscription box company. This is one of my favorite boxes I get each month!
