Each box comes with an illustrated card of the curators, and on the flip side is the item list;

The Brow Gal Brow Dual-Ended Highlighting Pencil in Gold/Nude – Value $20

beauty-con-box-september-2016-013

This pencil is part shiny highlighter and part matte concealer. Both ends go on smoothly and blend well - I'm really impressed with the formulas and the coverage/pigment. (Both swatched in lower photo.)

DUO Eyelash Adhesive - 2.5 g Value $1.60

I'm completely new to false eyelashes and glue, but Emily let me know that this glue is THE glue all youtube makeup artists use! It's also free of Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Dyes, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs and Triclosan.

And this is a critical item to include since they also included lashes in this box:

beauty-con-box-september-2016-011

Eyelashes by Flutter lashes by MakeupShayla – Value $10

For years now, I've received false lashes in subscription boxes, and kept them saying, "One day I will try these." Well, in an effort to make sure I try every item I review when possible, it was time to actually try false eyelashes!

beauty-con-box-september-2016-012

They were actually pretty easy to apply once I got over my fear of glue on my lashline. If you haven't tried false eyelashes before, first, hold the lashes up to your lashline and see if the lashes are too long. Cut any excess, then apply a thin layer of glue to the lashes and let it set for a few seconds. Then apply to your lash line and move into the correct place.

(You can always use makeup remover to take it off if you make any mistakes.)

Here I am with one side on so you can see the before and after (apologies in advance for the closeup):

beauty-con-box-september-2016-022

And these were pretty easy to remove, too. (I used makeup remover solution on a Q-tip on the lash line for a few seconds, then I was able to remove them without pulling out any of my own lashes.)

beauty-con-box-september-2016-001-2

Jouer Conditioning Lip Treatment (4.5 ml) Value $8

This lip treatment is paraben-free, and non-sticky! It goes on clear and provides a lot of shine and moisture.

beauty-con-box-september-2016-009

Laser Kitten Sweetheart Lipstick Pin - Value $12

There's usually at least one or two non-beauty items in every BeautyCon box (think accessories like a keychain or necklace). Given how popular enamel pins are right now, I think this is a fun choice. (Though I wonder if this box would it feel like it had a higher value if the accessory item had literally bigger.)

beauty-con-box-september-2016-017

Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow in Bella Taupe – Value $5

beauty-con-box-september-2016-018

I really love how smooth this pressed powder felt while applying it! The pigment is pretty good, too. (Swatched in lower photo.)

beauty-con-box-september-2016-019

Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Mocha - (8 g) FULL SIZE! Value $19.50

This liquid lipstick is heavily pigmented, and it has decent staying power, too. I found this Mocha shade to be flattering on my skintone, and I also like that the formula didn't dry out my lips!

Here it is swatched:

(Lipstick, Eyeshadow, Highlighter, Concealer)

beauty-con-box-september-2016-010

Luxie Rose Gold Large Angled Face Brush – Value $16

I've received these Luxie brushes in subscription boxes before, and I'm a fan. The brush is soft, vegan and cruelty-free, and the bristles are coated with an antibacterial solution.

beauty-con-box-september-2016-020

Sugarfina Sugar Lips - (Taster Packet) Value $2.50

beauty-con-box-september-2016-021

These sweet & sour gummy lips are in the flavors of Watermelon, Strawberry, and Bubble Gum. I couldn't eat these because they are made with Red 40 :(, but Emily and Eric both were happy to sample them!

beauty-con-box-september-2016-015

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes – 7 wipes Value $1.25

I’ve sampled these before and I’m happy to have more. The wipes are gentle on my skin and remove makeup well.

beauty-con-box-september-2016-002-2

Mystic Tan Mocha-Kyssed Bronzer Lotion (1 oz) Value $5.85

I was surprised by the scent of this lotion! Most self-tanners I've sampled range from not-great to tolerable when it comes to scent, but this one smells like a lovely perfume!

This is a 2-in-1 product. It immediately gives you a bronzer, and then the tanner gradually builds over time. So far, I really like it for the bronzing part - the color looks very natural on my skintone.

beauty-con-box-september-2016-007

And this box also came with some stickers!

beauty-con-box-september-2016-008

Verdict: Based on my estimates, this box has a value of about $101. I think that value is great, but it does feel like this box is missing a stand out hero item or two, or more full-size items like the Summer Box included.

That said, I'm still going to be using almost every item in the box, so I feel like I got my money's worth.

The fall box was supposed to be my last ( or so I thought) I cancelled back in September through email and got a confirmation email from Kathleen on my cancellation.

And here today I received December box and find out they charged my cc $105 for another year !!

I contacted them and said they couldn’t refund so I could cancel in 2017 after my subscription was up !!!
Really !?!?
Really upset 😤
Guess I will contact cc and dispute

Candis

Does anyone know this sub’s shipping policy? Specifically how long before an order is considered lost and reship-able.

I signed up for the Bunny box, and was happy with that one so I stayed subscribed. I tried to cancel after the Summer box but didn’t realize they have a weird cancellation policy, so I had to get this box too. I was excited at first to see Angel as one of the curators because I have a bunch of his diamond glow powders, so I was hoping for another or at least a sample size (maybe it would come in a shade I don’t already have?)… but this box sucks so bad. I cancelled before mine even made it to me in the mail. I cannot believe how stupid this box is! The value amount promised is a joke!

My son is allergic to red food dye, so I didn’t pass these gummies on to my kids but they were horrible. So sticky and too sweet.

I got a years subscription for my daughter (15) and this was the last of the 4 boxes. There was no doubt before that I would renew for her because the previous 3 were awesome! This one does absolutely suck and I may look for a different box for next year!

Try Boxycharm! They have it here on the site, best box ever, and its monthly

Thanks for reviewing this!

I agree with everyone. I was disappointed with this box as well especially after the awesome summer box. I wasn’t so upset at the self tanner after using it. I was losing my tan so it came in handy.

Lisa Phillips

This box sucked! Self Tanner for a Fall box? Really? Candy, stickers and a teeny tiny pin? Was this box curated by 2 10 year olds? Not everyone wears false eyelashes and even if they did, could they spare the lash glue? Not even a full size on that. I really hope the Winter box is worth the price and that an “adult” puts it together or I’m out. Anyone looking for beauty boxes that ARE worth it should check out Boxycharm $21 5 FULL SIZE products and Beauty Fix $24.95 with 5 FULL SIZE products. For that matter Target and Walmart have better beauty boxes than this piece of crap, for less than $10!

Reply ButtonReply

Thea

Yeah…I really enjoyed the last two boxes, but this one was incredibly disappointing. It did not feel particularly well put together at all. I mean, tanner in a fall box? And not even enough tanner to cover my whole body at that. After the care and curation that went into Bunny’s box, I guess I’m a little spoiled but ugh.

Vicki Vertrees

This was the most disappointing box ever. I was going to do the yearly subscription this box definitely changed my mind. Gave what little there was in box to my daughter.

Reply ButtonReply

Pilar

I hate to be negative but I feel like this box wasn’t as good as the others maybe because two YouTubers curated it, they each should had gotten their own month I feel.

Jo

Liz, can you tell me if the eyeshadow is matte or shimmer?

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

It is a satin matte. Hope that helps! 🙂

Jo

Yes! Thank you!

The Ofra Mocha I have looks so very different from the one here, and actually from every other one I’ve seen swatched around the internet. I am baffled as to why. Mine is a chocolate brown, but here and every where else it looks like a mauvey brown.

Reply ButtonReply

Yari

Yeesss! I even went to check on the website to see why mine look so different. My ofra mocha doesn’t look like that it looks like a cheer chocolate brown? Smh…

Reply ButtonReply

homesweetgliese

I’m glad it is not just me and I’m not crazy. I have the same problem with Americano and Honolulu. They look totally different in person than I’ve seen around the internet. I wonder if it’s because of photo editing.

Sabrina

So the fall box was a huge disappoint BUT, I am in love with the browgal highlighter pencil! It goes on SO smooth, super blendable and the color is perfect!!! So at least I was able to find ONE product in the fall box that is worth using!

alysania

The Milani eyeshadow has made regular appearances in Dollar stores, so while the full retail value may be $5, you can usually find it for $1.

I still want more from this box since it’s quarterly and they have the time to really build an amazing box. Maybe a special collaboration or put together a unique, BeautyCon-exclusive lip color, palette, something special that you can ONLY get through the box. Unfortunately, it looks like they just stuff in things you can find at the drugstore. I’ve been super underwhelmed with this subscription.

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa Martin

Yup, that exact shadow is in my local dollar store. So was a skincare product from the summer box. So upset.

Reply ButtonReply

jen

Total dud box for me.

Reply ButtonReply

Tracy

I was very disappointed. It’s always to be expected to have both hits and misses in your subscription boxes, and I’m not one to usually complain because I look at subscription boxes as a way to try new brands and products that I wouldn’t normally buy or haven’t heard of, and it does always feels like I’ve gotten my moneys worth, but I expected better of a $35 quarterly box. I am happier with my $10 ipsy bags than I was with this box. I don’t expect products to be all high end or all full size, but when companies like boxycharm can put 5 full size products in a $21 box every month, or my $10 ipsy bags that usually have been having well over $60 value, they make this month’s beautycon box look like a joke.

Reply ButtonReply

Katy

Nice close up Liz. Your brow game is strong! I really regretted not getting the Summer box after seeing the reviews because with so many full sized products and a value at almost $150 I felt like I missed out on a great deal for a lot of great stuff I would have really enjoyed. So I was all geared up for the Fall box but when I saw the lashes, glue and tanner stuff I said nah, I don’t use those and now looking at the review Im definitely glad I passed. This box is nowhere near as great as Kandee’s or even as good as Bunny’s. Maybe the Winter one will reel me in.

Reply ButtonReply

Amanda

I am upset I didn’t wait because I paid for the kandee box and I could have got it for free…5 for the price of 4…I would do it. Just know that the Benzac is already expired from that box. It says 09/16 which is now, and I myself haven’t even touched it. Just found that out.

Reply ButtonReply

Carolina

Just in case you’re still interested, the box they are giving away with the annual sub right now IS the summer box by Kandee. At least for me, getting both kind of offsets the not-so-great Fall Box.

Reply ButtonReply

Katy

Ohhh that is tempting. And $86 is a good price. Does the annual sub start with this box though? And how do you find out which extra box is included?

Kait

That’s not a full size ofra liquid lip. the ones you order from ofra for the $20 price point are about double that size – boxy charm did the same thing saying the tiny one was the full size! Definitely agree this box was missing a big ticket/standout item. The wipes easily could’ve been a full size pack, like they had in the box when Bunny curated. And the lipstick could have been an actual full size, but that’s just my opinion!

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

It is full sized. It’s just a packaging differentiation. The way ofra explained the difference is the older packaging (looks smaller and fatter) does indeed actually have 2 g MORE than their new (slimmer and longer) packaging. Ofra states the difference as being an inner lining plastic lining. This quote is straight from them on their instagram as it is a common discrepancy that people complain about. I remember it specifically as I was planning on (and did) buy products during a hautelook sale.
“This packaging actually has 2 grams MORE than our new regular retail packaging as our regular packaging has a plastic inner lining! This packaging is shorter but fatter and has no inner plastic lining and is more travel friendly!??”

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

Here is the link the insta pic that has it mentioned a few times https://www.instagram.com/p/BIpwa2Vg6jn/?taken-by=ofracosmetics

Liz Cadman

Hm, I saw that the packaging was different than the regular full-size version: https://www.ofracosmetics.com/products/long-lasting-liquid-lipstick

But the size on the Ofra site is listed as 6 grams, and the one in the box is listed as 8 grams, so I thought it was actually bigger than full-size.

So in conclusion… I’m officially confused! 🙁
