honest diapers september 2016 review

Here's my package this month. So many goodies that it barely fit on the table! I know it's just diapers, but getting a package from Honest Company is still fun.

5 packs of Honest Diapers, size 5 - Regularly $13.95/pack ($0.56/diaper), save 22% with subscription

1 pack of Honest Overnight Diapers, size 5 -Regularly $13.95/pack ($0.63/diaper), save 22% with subscription

Like most diapers, Honest Diapers have different quantities per pack depending on the size you get, so the above per diaper costs reflect the size 5 quantities. My son is almost 18 months, is on the tall side, and weighs at least 26 pounds; these fit him perfectly with some room to grow

Honest Overnight Diapers, size 5 -Regularly $13.95/pack ($0.63/diaper), save 22% with subscription

Let's talk about these overnight diapers. I was previously using a store brand and we had lots of leaks overnight. My son usually drinks a huge bottle before bed, so I just chalked it up to him being a giant baby who pees a lot at night and figured it was just something we'd deal with forever.

We've been using Honest Overnights for just over a month and we haven't had a SINGLE LEAK overnight in that time. I no longer have to wash his sheets every day. Life changing!

Plus, the sheep pattern on these is super cute, and now when grandma babysits she no longer confuses the overnight diapers with the regular ones -- she knows that sheep are for sleep!

honest-diapers-september-2016-seasonal-print

I got two seasonal prints this month: Navy Flannel and Weekend in the Woods. I love when Honest has plaid prints; they're just too cute! My son also loves walking around outside and picking up leaves now that it's starting to be autumn, so the Weekend in the Woods print seemed perfect for him.

I also got some of my favorite "standard" prints: Skulls and Workshop. We're a DIY family and are working on our 100 year old Victorian, so the Workshop pattern always feels appropriate. I just cannot resist the baby skull and crossbones; it's just plain old fun, totally my favorite of their regular patterns.

honest-diapers-limited-edition-designs-september-2016

Honest has two new limited edition patterns that I'm going to try to get in my next bundle delivery next month: a cute design for the upcoming presidential election, and a Halloween print! Honest doesn't guarantee that subscribers will get the limited edition diapers since they depend on availability, but it seems like I usually end up getting at least 1-2 of the seasonal designs that I pick.

honest-diapers-september-2016-wipes

4 pack of Honest Wipes - $18.95 ($4.95 individually)

The best wipes ever. They never rip, they've got the perfect amount of texture to make cleaning up easier, and they smell pretty much like nothing. I'm sensitive to scent, and I prefer these even to other 'unscented' brands.

With an older baby, 4 packs of Honest Wipes a month is generous, so we'll have some leftover at the end of the month. They are great for wiping faces and hands when you're out on the go, so I like to take the almost-empty packs and put them in the car and in my purse so I have them handy.

I also got some add-ons this month:

honest-diapers-september-2016-add-on-bottom-wash

Honest Soothing Bottom Wash - $9.95 ($7.50 with the add-on discount when you subscribe)

I've had one bottle of the Honest Soothing Bottom Wash for the last 18 months, and it finally just ran out. It's not something I use with every dirty diaper change, but it's seriously awesome stuff for those particularly messy and stinky ones. When my son was a newborn who pooped approximately 100 times a day, this was a lifesaver. I'd describe the scent as fresh and a bit citrus-y. I gift this to every new parent now, I love it so much!

If you're not familiar with Honest Bundles, they have a great discount for add-on items! You can get 25% off on up to 3 items with the diaper bundle, so it's a convenient way to be able to stock up on diaper cream, soap, and other essentials.

honest-diapers-september-2016-bonus-item

Honest Company Bandana Bib - $12.95

I also couldn't resist adding this skull patterned magnetic bib! I love the bandana-style bibs and these magnetic ones are nice; no scratchy velcro on your baby's neck. There are two magnets in the back, so it's adjustable to fit babies of all ages.

I got this as a free add-on with the Honest Company customer loyalty coupon for bundle subscribers, which is still active through 9/30! I didn't know Honest had any loyalty type promotions, so this was such a nice surprise this month!

honest-diapers-activity-september-2016

One last bonus: Did you know that your Honest Bundle also doubles as a fun activity? My son had a blast taking everything out of the box and putting it back in the box, over and over again. This was at least 20 minutes of solid entertainment.

Verdict: For $87.45 this month (bundle price + add-ons), I got $125.55 worth of products at their regular retail prices. The overall value was a little higher this month because of the free subscriber bonus itemHonest is a little more expensive than some other diaper brands, but I'm always happy with the quality, and now that I've tried the Overnight Diapers I'm even more of a fan! Their online tools for account management are also the best of the best, they make it easy to change selections and delivery dates.

I feel sorry that so many people have gone through this. I can tell you that personally when I started I tried the diaper and home essentials bundle. It was clearly stated that you would be enrolled in their bundles and the bundles themselves came with info stating this as well. I figured out that the home essentials bundle wasn’t for me so I called to cancel. The wait was annoying g but maybe 10 minutes tops (still way too effing long). I told them I was didn’t want the home essentials bundle. They asked why. I told them. No hard sell (maybe because I was keeping one bundle?) and the home essentials bundle was cancelled. My diaper bundle I receive every 4 – 6 weeks (I switch it up when I have enough diapers) and I usually just go in and switch up the actual ship date. Also before my item is processed I get an alert a few days before to update/edit my bundle so while they do make cancelling hard they aren’t deceptive about what you are signing up for and there are ways to prevent those shipments from going out.

Now, I haven’t had a bad experience but others obviously have and no matter what they need to get their wait times down (and ideally offer a way to cancel online).

I have had poor experiences with other companies so my tips for anyone who has a bad experience with Honest is to contact your bank to dispute the charges if you have tried to cancel and you can’t. (I would specifically show them any copies of e-mails where you asked to cancel and they didn’t). While waiting for the dispute move the day out as far in advance as possible to avoid getting charged.

It’s so weird – I posted that comment and now it’s deleted!

My post was in response to someone who posted a link about people having trouble cancelling the sub – but that comment is gone.

I discovered Honest Company bundles from MSA over a year ago.

At first I scoffed. I thought: those diapers are expensive and we go shopping every week anyway so we don’t run out if diapers. On a whim I tried the sample pack they offer and I was hooked.

I love the cool patterns. The skull and crossbones is my favorite but I love the elephant/balloon print, T-rex and plain white ones. They ysusally gave great seasonal prints and after one time completely missing out on two patterns in the same month I know will order a pack separately if I really love a seasonal print (since it is easy to adjust when your bundle is sent this is super easy to do). Right now we are loving the hedgehog print and hope we get the political and Halloween prints.

The wipes are as amazing as everyone says. And the customer love. What other sub regularly sends out extras to current subscribers?!? Not just newbies. Since subscribing with Honest Co. I have received two skull and crossbones totes (my choice to get a duplicate and not something else) and a their diaper caddy! When my pack ships out Monday we will get their multi vitamins for free.

Their boxes are also pretty sturdy so we use them for storage and play (a couple if weekends ago we painted a couple if them and the kids are in heaven with their colorful boxes).

OK. That was long. Here is the TLDR version:

Honest Company makes cute, quality diapers and they treat their customers right.

I think so too! 😉 Glad someone else loves the skull print as much as I do!
