VNYL is a pretty interesting subscription service for record collectors. When you sign up for this service, you fill out a lengthy profile that includes not only your likes and dislikes, but also links to all of your profiles on digital audio services such as Spotify and Sound Cloud. They then ask you to choose a "#VIBE," which is an activity that you would like them to select the music for, such as studying or pool party. They then select 3 new albums and send to you based on all these criteria.
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

VNYL often sends a flyer advertising their new releases. One of the perks of membership is access to the member store, where they have a variety of albums for sale at a discount. Records purchased in the member store are shipped free with your next month's regular shipment.
I chose #DOGDAYS as my "#VIBE" for this month. My curator for this month was Jamie (pictured above). He writes:
"Hey Anna, Saw you were a fan of Ty Segall, so I got you a record by one of his contemporaries, Wavves. I also grabbed you a GREAT stoner rock LP from one of my favorite groups, Om. And lastly, I saw you like Flaming Lips, so I thought you might like this loner singer / songwriter Liam Hayes. Hope you do! Jamie"
King of the Beach by Wavves ($15.69 on Amazon)
This one definitely fits the dog days vibe, and I am dying to get back to the beach before summer is over! I already have one LP by Wavves, so I'm glad they sent me one I don't already have! It's just good, solid fuzz-pop.
Pilgrimage by Om ($16.99 on Amazon)
This is the kind of album I love to get from VNYL. It's a selection that shows me that they have really paid attention to what I like. This album is fantastic! It's good and heavy, sludge-y psych rock that drones on and on forever. I love lots of different types of music, but I have to admit that although I hate the name, I love psychedelic rock. I love discovering new artists in the genre, too.
Slurrup by Liam Hayes ($22.05 on Amazon)
This is another great album! It definitely has that singer-songwriter vibe, and it reminds me a lot of John Lennon's solo work. It's not what I typically listen to, but I've actually been listening to it a lot lately. It's a really fun record.
Verdict: The day I get my VNYL in the mail is one of my favorite mail days all month! Although I did not get any colored vinyl this month, I did get three albums that are all wins! I like all three records! The value this month comes to about $55, which is great for a $36 box. I'm a huge VNYL fan, and I've discovered tons of great new music because of them.
What do you think of VNYL? What did you get this month?
