Elk Ridge ER199 Axe - Value $13.43
First up we have this cool little tomahawk/axe and sheath from Elk Ridge. The cutting edge is 4” long on this black stainless axe. It has black pakkawood handles and a hole for attaching a lanyard. There are also a few wrench holes built in and with the handle you could get considerable torque. I assume this would also function as a handy tool for field dressing if you are a hunter. Overall the quality is very nice and the size is ideal for quickly creating tinder.
Pocket Chainsaw - $24.99
This item is pretty cool and seems like it would be super versatile. It would be a great item to throw in a backpack for a multi-night camping trip too, as it takes up barely any space at all and would help you take down a tree in no time. I really like how the chain completely folds up into it’s carrying tin, and the handles are really easy to assemble with the included clips. This could even come in handy around the house if you have roots or branches that are at difficult angles.
Smith’s Tinder Maker - Value $6.99
I love this little gadget. I can’t wait to try it out on my next camping trip. The tinder maker is basically an ultra sharp grater box with included flint and striker so you can start a fire anywhere. You shave some dry wood into the box, dump it into a pile, and then use the attached flint and striker to spark it. The flint and striker can be tucked away into the box when not in use, and you can flip the shaver edge inwards to protect other items in your backpack. This would be a great tool for preppers, survivalists, or just regular campers.
And it comes with this 25% off coupon on any other camping and outdoor items!
ReadyMan Camper’s Cleats - Value $8
Next we have these handy ReadyMan Camper’s Cleats. These are great for quickly tightening paracord on tarps, tents, guy lines, anything you have paracord on. Eliminate the need for tying and untying messy knots with these cool little tools.
EasyKlip Midi Tarp Clips - $4.33
These clips are super helpful when you need to get a tarp pulled taught but don’t have accessible grommets. They hold very tight and will keep your tarp clipped despite whatever weather hits your site. I’ve used this to wrap tarps on boats for the winter and they have held up for months.
That would be the items you get in the basic box. At $25 (plus shipping), you get $58 worth of gear. A great value.
Now we move on to the items included in the Advanced box:
Wicked Tree Gear Wicked Tough Hand Saw with Sheath - Value $49.99
This thing is awesome. Super light, super sharp, and no plastic! This saw has a cast aluminum handle with a rubber grip, a carbon steel blade, and weighs a half a pound. It has a safety lock that is completely hardened steel. The closed length is 8.25” and the blade measures 7”. You can quickly cut through 1-2” thick branches in seconds. It also comes with a sheath that has a belt loop built in.
And this comes with a coupon too! 10% off and free shipping for anything on their website. Very cool!
Arborist Throw Weight/Throw Bag - Listed Value $24.15
This little Arborist weight bag is branded with the BattlBox logo and weighs in at 200g. You can attach this to some paracord and loop it over branches for easier felling, or throw it in your backpack and use it to run up a line to hang your food/pack/whatever while out backpacking in bear country. Very useful, tiny, and again handy around the house or out in the woods.
In addition to all the items in the Basic box, this would be the items you get in the Advanced box. At $50 (plus shipping), you get $132 worth of gear. Again, a great value.
Now we move on to the items included in the Pro box:
Outdoor Edge SaberBack Bowie - Value $49.19
Whoa. That’s a knife. (Did you hear that in Mick Dundee’s voice?) This knife is big, sharp, and multifunctional. It’s made from carbon steel and coated in black powder coat. The blade is 10” long and is hand-finished with a convex cutting edge on the front, and a saw on the back. The handle is rubberized and non slip which would really help if you were preparing a shelter in the rain. There’s an included sheath with a belt loop that allows for low-ride or high-ride on the belt. This knife is definitely serious business.
It also comes with a one-time 35% off coupon at OutdoorEdge.com!
BattlBox 12’x9.5’ RipStop Tarp with Waterproof Coating - Listed Value $45
This tarp is awesome! Tapered edges, plenty of grommets for all the different ways to set up a tarp shelter, reinforced corners, and of course RipStop material make this an ideal tarp for all outdoor situations. I found it surprising there was no paracord included with the tarp, but I would bet that most subscribers would have loads of it at this point.
I use a similar tarp when hammock camping, and am really looking forward to trying this out on my next adventure. It’s considerably larger, allowing for a ton of protection from the elements.
In addition to all the items in the Basic and Advanced boxes, these would be the items you get in the Pro box. At $100 and free shipping, you get $226 worth of gear. Again, a great value!
Now we move on to the item included in the Pro Plus box:
The Zippo 4-in-1 Woodsman - Value $45.35
This is the most versatile item in this whole box, and would be a great item for camping, backpacking and even for general yard work around the house.
The Zippo 4-in-1 Woodsman is a hatchet, bow saw, stake driver and puller all in one. The sheath doubles as a handle for the bow saw, and the blades for the bow saw are stored inside the handle when not in use.
I didn’t try this out on anything but a stump, but the blade on the axe is super sharp, and the blades for the saw compare to any standard bow saw. You can also use standard 15” bow saw blades if the included ones run dull.
I think this would be a versatile tool at any campsite, and can’t wait to try it out on my next trip!
The Pro Plus box includes all items in this review. At $150 and free shipping, you get $272 worth of gear. I think that’s a fantastic value.
Verdict: I think this box is chock-full of cool items and is definitely well curated to the theme. You could easily erect a shelter in the woods in no time with all the tools provided here. I think the value is fantastic, and I plan to get use out of every item here. Very much looking forward to future editions of this box!
