Doctor Strange Shirt - Value $15?
I'm so ready for this movie! So far, Comic Block has really stuck to sending shirts of the classic character designs - which I think is great and totally appropriate for a comic-themed box! This one is no different, so get ready to rock the Sorcerer Supreme to opening night!
DC Comics Essentials: Aquaman - Value $19 on Amazon
Aquaman makes an appearance this month! These DC Essential figures are really great - while it's not the exact same line, my Talon figure is very similar and is one of my favorite non-statue items of my collection.
This design is from the Jim Lee New 52 Justice League and stands 6.75 inches tall. This is his Saturday Night Fever stance!
You received 1 of 3 possible figures: Aquaman, Batman, or Wonder Woman.
Marvel Champions #1 - Value $4.99 + Exclusive Variant Cover
This was my favorite issue this month. This is the origin story of a new super-group: Champions. I love all 5 characters involved, Ms. Marvel, Nova, Spider-Man, Viv, and The Hulk. So far, Ms. Marvel is the leader of the group and they spend the first issue joining up and taking down some enemies - sounds like a typical superhero storyline! If you're interested in any of these characters - give this one a try.
Serenity: No Power In The Verse #1 - Value $3.99 + Exclusive Variant Cover
Of course, I love this one! This will help extend the 'verse for all you Browncoats. Continue to follow the captain and his gang as this takes place post-movie. One of my favorite things about comics that extend a TV or Movie is that I already have the voices in my head, it gives the characters a little more life for me, and brings me right back to the show.
Warhammer 40,000 Will Of Iron #1 - Value $3.99 + Exclusive Variant Cover
The last comic in this month's box is Warhammer 40,000. This extends the well-known tabletop and video game series into comic form.
From Amazon:
After a thousand years, violent warp storms have receded from the Calaphrax Cluster, and an ancient battlefront in the war against Chaos has again been opened to the universe.
Now, multiple forces risk complete immolation to attack the sector – drawn by the lure of ancient relics, lost knowledge, and powerful megaweapons, buried for aeons. Chief among those forces, the fearsome Dark Angels, emerald-armored Space Marines, shock-troopers of the Emperor's Imperium and indomitable defenders of humanity. But Chaos stirs in the warp, and the Dark Angels will not be alone for long!
Based in the universe of the ever-popular miniatures game, novels, and videogames, this new ongoing series is perfect for both the hardcore Warhammer 40,000 fan and the complete newcomer!
I'm not a big fan of the franchise, and from reading it, it felt like you may need to have been a fan to really dig in.
Zombie X-Men Print - Value $10?
This month's print is just in time for Halloween - zombie X-Men! There's a lot of fun stuff to look at here - from Jubilee eating The Juggernaut's brain to Nightcrawler BAMF'ing into The Blob!
Verdict: They've done a great job in morphing Comic Block into a comic discovery box + a value box, all while staying in the comic vein. I loved this month - From the shirt to the print, it was a nice collection for comic lovers!
