Every month has a different theme, and October's theme was Horror, naturally! Typically, each month's box unfolds and transforms into something cool. This month, they changed it up a bit - you'll find a removable zombie mask at the bottom of the box!

The Walking Dead: Negan Sluggers Shirt - Value $15?

Well, couldn't have been better timing for this shirt as the Walking Dead TV show follower found out what the comic readers have known for a long time - Negan is a bad dude.

I like the shirt because Negan is one of my favorite bad guys in recent memory. It's also a great part of the series where the narrative becomes less about fearing the dead, and more about fearing the living.

Leatherface Phunny Plush - Value $12-17 based on other Phunny Plushes on Amazon

The next item features Leatherface. You'll either get a smiling version or a frowning version. I didn't really know that KidRobot had a plush line - I'm guessing a lot of vinyl toy makers do, or will. This almost instantly became a dog toy whether I wanted to keep it or not!

Freddy Kreuger Chopsticks - Value $10?

My first thoughts were "I can't even use these" and "What a waste of Freddy Kreuger"!

loot-crate-october-2016-0022

These chopsticks don't remove from Freddy's hand - so you're stuck trying to use them like training chopsticks - if you're used to using normal chopsticks, these are pretty much unusable.

Update: Thanks to Erin in the comments below - you can pull these out of the fingers - I had to pull to the point where I thought it would break, but they eventually came out!

It also looks like Freddy is throwing you a peace sign. I love the Freddy Kreuger franchise and was excited to see him in Loot Crate, so this kind of bummed me out - it felt like a missed opportunity.

Camp Crystal Lake Pennant - Value $5-10?

This is a smaller size pennant featuring Jason's stomping grounds - Camp Crystal Lake. Again, it felt like an opportunity lost from my perspective. With the amount of source material from Freedy and Jason - a pennant and chopsticks were very surprising choices.

Legion of Regrettable Supervillains Book - Value $13-15?

This completes the Legion of Regrettable book collection started with the Hero version in July 2015. I like the hero book, and I like the villain version as well!

Lots of fun, bad, villains to read about!

Verdict: This month feels like more of a miss for me. I was really excited when I saw the franchises they chose to feature, so I think that made me even more disappointed with the items. While the shirt and book were good, the other items kind of outshined them - so, overall, it was a down month of Loot Crate for me.

What did you think about the Loot Crate 'Horror' box?

I guess I’m in the minority here cause I loved this box! The chopsticks and the pennant are great decor items! Or so I thought. Now I’m starting to doubt my taste…lol!

What size do you get your shirts in? I just signed up for a woman’s tshirt size but not sure how they fit?

This will be my last box from Loot Crate. It used to be a really fun box with a good mix of items and genres, but now since they’ve added all the specialty crates like Marvel, Harry Potter, and Firefly, the regular crate just seems to have whatever is left over. I’m not ready to spend the bigger dollars on the specialty crates, so I’m afraid Loot Crate and I are parting ways.

This was my first month since I gave them the boot. I feel I dodged a bullet, you are spot on, once there was higher end box options the core box ( the one to get them to where they are) turned it to a scrap pile. I feel the once $13.95 box now requires a $30 investment. GREEDY

I stopped my subscription to the main Loot Crate after last month’s box. And so glad after seeing the horror box! I had been giving away so much of what had come in recent boxes, decided it wasn’t worth the money anymore. I get the Firefly Cargo Crate, the items in it are from Quantium Mechanics, and that one is awesome! The special theme Loot boxes are much better than the main one!

This box is horrible!! I didn’t get it cancelled in time so I ended up with this box! I dropped it to start getting the gaming box. Fingers crossed it will be better!

I’m glad I unsubscribed. Here’s hoping the dog shirt in the Loot Pets box isn’t an exact replica of this shirt!

This was a terrible box I was so disappointed when I opened mine. A pennant and chopsticks? really?

What we Americans call the peace sign has much more nefarious connotation in other parts of the world. Somehow, that seems more suited to something Freddy Krueger would do! 😉

True. Just look at Spike from Buffy! ?

Is this box still available? I really like the Halloween pin and the zombie mask!

Eric

This box isn’t available anymore – the sign up period ends on the 19th of each month.

My chopsticks removed from the hand no problem. I just wiggled them a bit & they popped out. I was also able to slide them back in, so it seems like they were designed to be removable.

Thanks for this comment – I had to pull it to the point where it felt like I was going to break it, but it did come out!
