This month's theme is Clean & Green! I like the sound of that!
First of all, My Best Box has one of the nicest boxes I've ever received. It's really sturdy! This box will definitely be repurposed. This info card was included in my package, detailing the contents.
This month, My Best Box also included a recipe for Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream. It looks like a step in the right direction health-wise, but I don't think I will actually make it. I think I would prefer to just drink matcha, which I love.
Clean & Green by Parragon Books - Value $7.18 on Amazon (retail price $12.99)
I've really gotten into juicing lately, so this book could not have come at a better time! It has loads of great recipes, including some fantastic ideas for juicing. From Amazon:
Science has proven that green leafy vegetables and fruit knock all others off the top spot for their spectacular concentration of phytonutrients, vitamins, and fiber, and the quickest way to get an instant boost of these healthy greens is in a juice or smoothie. Packed with raw, whole vegetables and fruit, as well as herbs, spices, and healthy fats, these fabulous recipes are literally a health boost in a glass -- or bowl. If you juice regularly, you'll be getting all the essential vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals that you need. Whether you're trying to get in shape, boot your general health, or give your body a deeply nourishing cleanse, incorporating green juices and smoothies into your diet is the simplest and most effective way to eat clean and green!
Green Superfood Sun is Shining by Sunfood - Total Value $3.58 ($1.79 each)
This is a powdered drink mix that is raw, vegan, organic, non-GMO, and all those wonderful things, and it's full of phytonutrients and probiotics. It tasted pretty much like what you would expect, ahem, but it was great to know I was getting all that awesome nutrition!
Martha Stewart Salad Container - Value $9.99
This is a totally ingenious salad system! It's BA-free, it has all the components (dressing container, fork, knife) all contained neatly within, and it's microwave and dishwasher safe! Awesome!
I'm Real Avocado Sheet Mask by Tony Moly - Value $3.75
I have been wanting to try a Tony Moly mask for a while now, and I'm so glad I did! This smells good and left my skin feeling moist and soft. It's supposed to have all kind of nutritive value, too, but I'm not sure how to tell if my skin is nourished. I will take their word for it!
Rishi Tea Japanese Green Tea Latte Mix Sweet Matcha - Value $6.07
This is basically a sweetened matcha blend (with cane sugar) that you mix with hot milk. I tried it, and of course, it was delicious, but I think I prefer my matcha straight up. I might be able to get the kids to try this, though, and it would be awesome if they liked it.
Kombucha Wonder Drink - Value $2.26
I already completely love kombucha, so this was an easy win for me! The green tea and lemon flavor is outstanding.
Verdict: I think MyBestBox is great! It's an awesome way to discover new products to help you live a healthier lifestyle. We received lots of new things we haven't tried this month, and I think we will use (and probably buy more of) almost everything we tried. This month's value comes to about $33, which is fine for a $30 box, but it concerns me a bit. It's low on the value side for My Best Box, and it falls far short of their claim to pack "over $100 worth" into each box. I kind of wish they would just leave that claim off their site and let the products speak for themselves.
