Olivia Palermo X Ciate London The Cheekbone Cheat Blusher Bronzer Duo in Seaside Park – Retail Value $32

This blush/bronzer duo was also in the Today Show POPSUGAR Special Edition box, and it was one of my favorite items in the box, so I'm happy to have another one!

The packaging is fab. I love the gold text on the embossed black print. Gorgeous!

The formula is great, too. The pigment is lovely, and the pressed powder has such a silky finish - it feels so good on your skin.

(One word of caution - the pan itself popped out when I opened this compact, so I added a little glue to put it back in place.)

Here are the shades swatched:

I used several swipes so you can really see the color, but it is buildable, so you don't have to worry about overdoing it with one brush stroke.

Kitsch Patch Sticks - Value $8

This patch sticker was inspired by the designs from Power Your Happy by Lisa Sugar.

pop-sugar-mini-october-2016-011

This sticker is made from vegan leather (it has a little dimension to it). Here is a closer look:

They recommend putting it on laptops, phones, bags, etc. (Not clothing):

I tried it out on my laptop, and I think it looks really cute:

Good news, this is described as a one time use sticker, but I was able to remove it and put it back on my laptop without losing any stickiness, or leaving any stickiness behind on the laptop.

Friendship Socks - Retail Value $15

pop-sugar-mini-october-2016-006

A pair of socks ready for gifting or keeping! Friendship Socks lets you easily send a gift of socks to your friend (you get to message them through Facebook to let them know socks are on the way), or you can subscribe to get socks every month and your friends will get socks every month, too!

You can send a friend a pair of socks for $10, buy a set (a pair for you, a pair for them for $22), or sign up for a subscription to get a pair for you and a friend every month for as low as $16 a month.

And the best part:

pop-sugar-mini-october-2016-007

The socks are really cute!

(These socks are 80% cotton, 16% nylon, 4% lycra, and made in the USA.)

Verdict: This box has a retail value of $55. I think this box is a good mix of luxe, fun, and practical items - plus sending 3 items instead of 2 is always a good thing! This is one of my favorite mini boxes in this subscription so far.

I think if you bought the Today Show POPSUGAR Special Edition Box, and you don't want/need another bronzer/blush that part of the box may be a letdown, but I really liked the compact (and you can't buy it online anymore) so it is a win for me.

I personally love the box! 🙂 My blush combo came broken, but Popsugar usually does an amazing job fixing things so I’m not worried. I love the socks.. and personally, I like the sticker. My computer can use a hint of rainbow!

I really am not happy with this box. I seen some items in the past I loved. I liked last months and had hopes for better boxes. Even with the new lower price if they can’t offer better items I’m going to end my subscription. I would rather have one good item and maybe 1 or 2 cheaper items then all bad. This was a miss, the regular box was not that great. I hope the mystery boxes are good.

Very underwhelmed. I had unsubbed months ago and just resubbed last month because I liked the Sept spoilers (heartbeat necklace and lash kit) and thought they were making a comeback, of sorts. Then I see bronzer and socks and a dumb sticker for Oct. I wish more boxes would include spooky or autumnal things in Oct boxes. Not bronzer and stickers. I like the socks but not twenty bucks worth. I am ghostgirl pale and I don’t use bronzer. Thought I was ‘safe’ resubbing for fall after skipping all the summer boxes. Nope. A fall scented candle would have been a more appropriate inclusion. Right now I’m just gonna be happy that there’s no sea salt spray and the price is going down in Nov. I may be happier with the box overall at a lower price point.

This box is the worst so far for me. Didn’t want the blush/bronzer duo when it was in today show box and still don’t want it now. It seems out of place in an October box anyway to me as I only use these duos in spring/summer. The rainbow sticker isn’t my style and neither are the socks (I only wear low cut). It seems especially odd that they would recycle old products in new (other than mystery) boxes when one could easily swap for past items!

The price looks good and I was considering it until I saw the childlike sticker and socks.

I did not buy the today box, although I have bought every single $100 LE in the last 2 years or so. I got at the bubble bath and the glasses in the last mystery box and when I saw this compact, I literally screamed with joy. I do not really care for socks but they can be easily gifted.

I just realized I was really ranting about this box in the comment above, lol. I love PopSugar and even though this box is a miss for me I can gift the bronzer/blush duo( not sure if it will work with my skin but will test before I gift to a family or friend) will wear the socks and put to use the sticker eventually. As I stated early I’m hoping the last two boxes of the year will be hit for me. Have an amazingly fabulous day ladies.

Some people are never happy lol. People have been begging Popsugar to include LE items in these mystery boxes they are sending out and they finally include one in the mini box and people are pissed. I mean really?

Reply ButtonReply

Marie

Isn’t the point of these boxes to include new products? Not punish the loyal subscribers just because they want to clear out their old inventory?

Reply ButtonReply

Danielle

You feel like your being “punished” ??? Wow, I want your life then lol. I’m stoked for the “old inventory” in this month’s box. It’s a good quality item and I’m excited for it as I didn’t get the Today Show box and wanted this item in particular when I saw the spoilers. (My opinion, I know) Not every box is a win for everyone, but a $32 bronzer is hardly a punishment.

Tessa

Exactly! And I’m not a “hard to please” customer. I love the monthly box, the Target collabs, the limited edition boxes, etc. but for some reason the mini is just always “off” to me and the recycled items kind of drive that point home.

Kimberley

My box has not come yet but I feel that the blush/bronzer was a let down from previous boxes. So disappointed…..Stickers?really?socks? I know that this company can come up with some items that wow us again. The boxes say must have right? I wonder where this company is going?

This would be a good box if the Ciate product wasn’t a repeat. I was in on the first few months of the mini but canceled after the sunscreen/ice tray one and haven’t been sorry. It does seem they’re making an effort to round it out with 3 items though, which is nice. Might look for those socks in swap.

Reply ButtonReply

Tessa

Agreed-the best part about the mini is that they have finally taken the feedback on including 3 items instead of 2.

Ashlea

So an $8 … Sticker?

Reply ButtonReply

X

Oh man. Repurposing an item like that screams financial problems. I can see adding it as a GWP or a special extra but…. wow. Adding it as one of the main items is really low. I’m sure some people are happy to receive it, but from a business standpoint it seems to signal a problem. I think there seems to be a steep decline in quality recently and this worries me.

I really, really love popsugar. A lot. I find that most boxes are super fun and useful even if not exciting at all (see: October box). But I am starting to get really worried about the future of these boxes. While October was cozy/fun, I can’t get over the $58 (free GWP/non automatic) umbrella. These things are just really suggesting a nosedive. The only reason you do those things is to save money.

I’ve also noticed they are sending boxes
to bloggers and Instagram influencers to push HARD on selling.

Just a side note, I think the curation is excellent in terms of the limited boxes. They’re consistently on/before trend. I hope they turn it around with the monthly boxes. I don’t want this to be taken as a smear campaign against then because I love them. Just worried. ?

Haylee

Worst part of all of that is when you see all of these bloggers getting extras and freebies then you e-mail the company and they say “No problem to wait! We will have the box until November”, but sell out at the beginning of October. 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Kate

Pop sugar told you that? Or is the the same complaint you made over on the FitFabFun comments?

Barbara

I’m really not happy with this box. I already have the blush from the Today’s show box and I didn’t need another one. For the first time, I am considering cancelling. This just does not compare to how much I like Serendipity which costs me less.

Reply ButtonReply

Danielle

I’m excited, I didn’t get the Today Show box, but loved the spoilers. So I’m happy about all three items this month. 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Nich

Ugg, an awful box, a product from a previous box a kitsch patch I already got from the Power Your Happy event(I believe this is the same one) and socks really! Not impressed and I had missed one month from my intial subbing of the mini and was excited to sub again! Boy I hope next month is better!

Reply ButtonReply

Whitney

This looks like a really great box! Popsugar site indicates this box is sold out! 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

I love the socks! I wouldn’t like to receive a duplicate though from another PS box though.

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah

So annoying. I already have the blush from the Today Show box. I hated it the first time too. Makes me want to cancel the mini. Recycling leftover items from previous boxes is not cool.

Reply ButtonReply

Anne

Yeah I got the Today Show Box and I thought that was the same blush duo. Ugh 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Tessa

I didn’t get the Today show box, but I still find it kind of weird that they “recycled” an item as well. It’s funny because the mini box has also featured the ice water under eye things that were also previously in their other boxes. I don’t think most subscribers will appreciate that. I don’t really have use for a rainbow patch and the socks will get used but are underwhelming nonetheless.

Reply ButtonReply

Marie

The funny thing is that the eye patches were also from the Today Show LE box. Lol.

Kristin Craft

Hey, Liz!!

Do you by chance know when the Mystery Boxes will start shopping? So curious what items they are going to be putting into it this time!! 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

Orders will ship by Oct. 17 via FedEx SmartPost. Hope that helps! 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Tessa

Seriously cannot decide about the mini box. I have purchased every single mini box so far, but I have only actually liked about 30% of the items…yet for some reason I keep subscribing and feeling let down/underwhelmed when it arrives.
